### 4/5 — Smooth but limited

*2024-05-22*

Fast fractal is what it claims to be: fast! It’s fun to play around with but the zoom is quite limited so you can’t really get down to the fun stuff. Also it’s missing auto zoom.

### 4/5 — Let us toggle some other fractals

*2022-12-07*

Can you let us toggle the Burning Ship fractal?

### 4/5 — Zoom limit

*2021-11-23*

When I zoomed into the Mandelbrot set the zoom limit is 1e+11 please update this app so that you can zoom infinity

### 4/5 — Very clear fractal imaging but zooming could be slightly better

*2020-03-04*

I overall love this app. I am amazed at how detailed and clear the images of the Mandelbrot set are. I also love how for each point on the Mandelbrot set, the corresponding Julia set can be accessed also simply by a double tap.

However, I do have a suggestion for improvement, relating to zooming. Overall, the zooming feature is very convenient, except that sometimes I want to zoom far inside the Mandelbrot set to one specific spot, but then the zooming hits a “dead end”.

I know that of course that no software can zoom truly indefinitely, but perhaps there can be a “maximum zoom” option in the settings, where one can set the maximum magnification factor by which one can zoom into the Mandelbrot or Julia sets. If the developer could add such an option to the settings, then that would make the exploration of these fractals even more interesting.

### 5/5 — Fast & Responsive

*2019-05-01*

Having written several Mandelbrot programs, I am blown away by the speed and responsiveness of this one. You can go deeper by increasing the iteration count on the Advanced menu.

### 5/5 — The Maldebrot Zoom

*2018-12-31*

I love this app because it makes you explore the maldebrot zoom!

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2018-03-27*

Great fun app amazing

### 5/5 — Nice

*2018-03-07*

Great app. I think I’m brought closer to a panic attack every time I use it.

### 5/5 — More useful than I thought

*2018-01-07*

By default, the app sacrifices some of the finer intricacies for extremely fast rendering. However, you can increase the number of iterations in the advanced settings, making it far more useful.

### 4/5 — Fast & Fun fractal app!

*2017-06-09, version 1.0.3*

Definitely one of the fastest of the fractal apps& programs
for small devices I've used. You will be charging your apple twice a day if your exploring much.
It does make cool pics, though very limited colors it allow you to set iterations amount and shows the coordinates.

### 3/5 — Zooming Physics

*2017-01-28*

Absolutely excellent app, but the one thing I would like is a zoom that doesn't freeze the second you take your hand off the screen.

Everything else you can see is in the other reviews.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-01-25*

In the 80s I first started exploring the Mandelbrot set using an 8-bit Atari computer. It would take literally HOURS to draw an iteration of the set. Fast forward over 30 years later and this application simply amazes me. Such blazing speed! I can finally get to explore the set without waiting days for it to refresh. The young geek from the 80s is finally satisfied. Thanks!!!

### 5/5 — Психота

*2017-01-14*

Спасибо за обновление

### 5/5 — Insanely fast

*2017-01-14*

This app was pretty fast before the last Update, but now you don't even notice it having to calculate anything until you have zoomed in to the max.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lol hilariously ad heavy

*2022-09-26, version 1.0.4*

Threw down an ad before it even opened.

### 1/5 — Constant ads

*2019-12-06*

Constant annoying ads and the core functionality of the app is laughable. You can only zoom in a small amount. Don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — That other guy wasn't kidding about the useless zoom

*2018-12-28*

You can zoom a few times and then it just hits a hard stop and refuses to zoom further or render additional detail. Fractal explorers are fun for hours when you can keep going and going and get into weird edge detail, and this app has neither of those things. It only offers a Mandelbrot set, which despite being my favorite is still only one of the many fun fractal explorations. It's no faster than Fractint was back in the 486 days despite the author's claims above. To add insult to injury it pops up an annoying ad every time you open it. This app was deleted within 2 minutes, as I'd seen all it had to offer, and it wasn't much.

### 1/5 — Silly little toy

*2017-03-25*

Allows as much zooming as a $5 microscope from the 1950s.

### 1/5 — Lies

*2011-09-15*

This app claims to be over twice the speed of other apps but I tested it against fractile+ and it's no where near as fast or as good looking as fractile+, it doesn't even show the outer reaches of the set, it has less options for colours and the picture loads from the top so you have to wait for the whole image to load even if you just want to keep zooming in. It forgets everything that is off the screen instantly so exploring the Mandelbrot set is near impossible unless you have the whole day to compute pictures which you had previously seen not even a second ago and if you accidentally turn your iPod to the side your entire picture is lost and has to compute again. The good part about the app is it's claim to not have a limit to the iterations it can do but I'm yet to prove that as I can't stand waiting for the whole image to load

### 1/5 — Slow

*2011-07-18, version 1.0.0*

Not fast as the name claims. Actually it's quite slow and relatively featureless.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2011-01-28, version 1.0.0*

Deleated

### 2/5 — Meh

*2022-06-23*

It’s fine I guess but you can barely zoom in at all!

### 2/5 — Good basic functions but limited app and annoying opening!

*2019-11-16*

I like some of the functions, but the zooming is ok, like it lets you go for a while, but it does not let you zoom infinitely, which it should let you do. Also, every time I close out of the app and enter again, it advertises me this other app, which is really annoying! I will search for another app or simply create my own personal generator.

### 2/5 — Nice fractal video player. Has 3 fractal zooms

*2014-02-22, version 1.0.2*

This app doesn’t actually calculate fractals, but does show some nice deep view zoom frames from a precalculated movie of a deep Mandelbrot zoom. Go download XAOS if you want to enjoy fast Fractal zooming.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Surprisingly Powerful

*2023-01-28, version 1.0.4*

You can do a lot with this app. It’s fast and powerful, with a lot of options. Take the time to explore the settings, and you’ll be surprised what all you can do.

### 5/5 — Lightning fast

*2021-10-22*

The strength of this app is indeed how fast it can calculate the Mandelbrot set even when zoomed in a lot, pretty impressive!

### 5/5 — Ismaël B

*2021-06-30*

Vous pouvez mettre une mise à jour ?

### 5/5 — BEST MANDELBROT SET ON THE IOS APPSTORE

*2020-07-05*

I have always been curious about the Mandelbrot. I have had many apps that work good but don’t ever allow you to zoom by pinching. It projects a very clear image and allows you to zoom very far into the fractal. So this definitely deserves a 5 star rating.

### 5/5 — Love it! Neat little app

*2020-06-11*

I grew up programming fractals in the 80s on my Atari ST, took around half and hour per render what you can do on iPhone in real time.
Thanks Tom (Kerrigan) for Programming this.
Quick wish, if it so moved you to implement this: once at max zoom level, allow a button press to automatically “fly out” eg auto-zoom out. That be nice.
Anyway. Really love it.

### 5/5 — Best Mandelbrot App on IPhone 8

*2020-03-17*

I compared it to 5 similar apps and this one is the best!

### 5/5 — hello

*2019-12-15*

this is what I see when I rub my eyes too hard

### 5/5 — Awesome real-time mandlebrot

*2019-11-25*

Just pinch and zoom and explore in real-time. Amazing! One request , add a button to start where you are and slowly zoom back out. Extra points if you include a slider for speed. Add add bookmarks so you can zoom from start to book mark and back. Then charge a dollar! Lol great app!

### 5/5 — Can zoom in endlessly

*2019-11-03*

The reviewers for the app who are saying you can only zoom in so far before the iterations stop forgot to look in the settings. You can control the number of iterations, the zoom and much more. It just slows down the rendering, as you'd expect.

Also worth noting, for those of us with large tablets, the screenshots are misleading; the app DOES provide landscape view (aka widescreen).

### 5/5 — Cool!

*2019-08-14*

That is so Cool, and Awsome.
