December 7: On December 12, Artifex Mundi will release Yuletide Legends. In case you are wondering, Domini will finish out the year with 2 more games. One will be the next installment in Spirit Legends, and the other will be their annual Christmas Story game. Note to all gamers: Elephant stopped releasing games. I spoke to an executive at Elephant and it seems that they do plan on releasing games in 2020. I’m trying to get more information. BIG NEWS: Outside of this month, Domini released one game per month this year. HERE IT GETS EXCITING! In 2020 we will all be able to take advantage of their subscription model! Oleg plans on releasing 4 games per month (48 per year) on the iOS platform! My work paid off. Eventually I will give you more details but isn’t this exciting?!🤙🏻🤩😀 I vowed to keep this genre alive, even without BigFish, and with my beloved Catalina, we did it! I can’t wait to share the rest with you, but not yet! Dream Team Elite, spread the news so the other gamers know to start the subscription in January! As far as this game went, I’m keeping my review brief. I was thrilled with the storyline, as it was NOT fantasy-themed. It was an homage to Agatha Christie, with the murder suspects being picked off one by one in an isolated mansion, and as the detective you must solve the crime. The game was good; however there were certain technical issues which could NOT be ignored. At times the screen was incredibly non-responsive, and if I didn’t have the match-3 alternative I couldn’t have finished the HO scene. I also had to tap hard and repeatedly to acquire inventory items. The game was sluggish, and the complex items did not combine immediately. However, once Domini updated it, the game ran way more smoothly! Did any of you notice that Oleg and his programmers finally gave us a zoom feature in the HO scenes? There were plenty of puzzles; however most of them were unoriginal, mundane rotational types. Still and all, the gameplay was fast-paced and the game was a decent length. My rating will remain at 4 stars. I deducted a star for the technical issues I have noted that still plague the Domini wizards. However they are striving to get a handle on these issues so that next year is better for all of us! As for the BigFish rumors, a few developers have told me that we won’t see the return of Karp. I can always depend on this developer to deliver outstanding games, and this one is no exception. This traditional who-dunnit murder mystery takes you on an exciting adventure full of suspenseful twists and surprises, as you find yourself stranded on a remote island and locked in a mansion with other unfamiliar guests—and one of them is a murderer. The well-constructed, fast-paced storyline combines compelling characters, interesting dialogue, and intensifying drama. The engaging characters heavily contribute towards unraveling the backstory as you learn each one's connection to the deceased. With the exception of the unfortunate inclusion of a supernatural gadget, the storyline is devoid of paranormal entities, rendering an organic sense of trepidation in the atmosphere. In true Domini style, there are many instances of creative animations incorporated into the background. The gameplay is mesmerizing in every respect! The inventory is puzzle-like, with little manipulations giving rise to puzzles. I love how the storyline is cleverly tied into the gameplay through story-driven HOSs that convey the backstory via narration. The rest of the HOSs comprise various interactive formats. To my delight, this is a puzzle-heavy game; and I am beside myself with solving the entertaining, sometimes challenging puzzles. I am happy to say that I did not experience any technical flaws. This game is perfect. All of the components fuse together harmoniously to create a fluid production. If it’s an interactive story for Young Children with the most basic skill levels... you’ve hit your mark. (making the dead characters and mature themes highly inappropriate) 😕You’re one of my Fav Developers and Expect SO MUCH MORE. The game began with such promise: Custom Difficultly, Loud Upbeat Movie Quality Sound, Fast Moving Images, Decent Graphics, (overly saturated deep jewel hues - not a fan) Interesting Characters and a Storyline that quickly Hooks you ..... 😭But my bubble of Excitement quickly burst, seeing the exact same items and going through the old motions of a stale routine. I don’t want to waste time finding the Map, Journal, etc. (have everything already in place) 🔭 much less engage in painfully boring redundant tasks of unlocking with pins, retrieving items from birds nests too far too reach out a window (or squirrels/mice), manipulating zipper pulls, cutting stitched up seams, etc.... and especially the maddeningly ridiculous simplicity opening the case. It’s bad enough including the code written on a cheat sheet, that you must use to solve, but to already have a cheat sheet, and having each number light up when correct .... is the epitome of BORING, the equivalent of a Preschool toy...and as much excitement as a log of wood. (Ren & Stimpy Commercial excluded) By continually repeating the EXACT same Blueprint for each game, the exact same steps, the exact same points throughout the game, utilizing the exact same items and either exact, very similar or UGH, even easier Mini Games and Puzzles....it’s recycling the same basic game over and over. So Please: Utilize your company's talent and creativity to the fullest and continue to introduce new modern ideas, with unique challenging and Stimulating Mini Games and Puzzles - that require Logic and Skill. 🙏🏻 GLITCH: Half the time I touch anywhere close to the bottom screen it brings me back to the previous area. But it’s especially problematic while watching the Will Video, because if I touch anything near the Hint Button, I immediately exit the Video....which means I can’t use Hint if I needed to. ### 3/5 — Predictable, Bad game design. In this case, however, something must be said. This is mediocre at best and should be priced accordingly. Even though HO is a predictable, formulaic genre, there are many superior hidden objects games out there that provide actual entertainment. This is not one of those. It has the same number of activities in every scene and the player has to follow the predetermined pattern even when the clue is in plain sight. Also, many scenes don't make sense. Insulting.
