### 4/5 — Fun but expensive & mildly stressful

*2026-02-27*

I quite like this app & have learnt from it. It’s quite simple & fun but I don’t like apps that feature ‘run streaks’. I’m sure some do & need for motivation but I find it slightly stressful & irritating. At the cost ( high) of annual, I like to be able to decide myself if I want to look at the app, especially as it’s about philosophy! I wish I’d just paid monthly

### 5/5 — Bite size insights

*2026-02-08, version 1.1.3*

Love the UX and ease of this app.

### 5/5 — Life raft in a storm

*2025-12-26*

First of all, this review is long overdue. I have been learning in Fathom for 213 days and I’m not sure where I would be right now without it. It’s been worth the very modest subscription fee many times over.

Over the past few years, my worldview started to feel like it was crumbling around me, and this app has given me much needed exposure to new ideas and wisdom when things stopped making sense. I wanted a bird’s eye view on the entire field of philosophy and this was exactly what I was looking for. Short, accessible lessons with mini quizzes to help retain information, and a screenshottable infographic summary at the end I can add to my daily journal app along with my thoughts on the lesson (I use Day One, highly recommend).

I was traveling recently and missed a day, and when it didn’t automatically use my Streak Freeze I reached out for support to see if I needed to do anything. Kind, quick response, even though they are a very small team. They let me know that it was a glitch on their end and would try to repair it. A couple days later I had my streak back and two new streak freezes to use.

The streak is just a number, and I would have still written this review even if it couldn’t be fixed. The fact is that these people have created something that has had a deep and lasting impact on me and I am forever grateful.

### 5/5 — Underrated!

*2025-12-04*

This app taught me essential philosophical concepts and principles and such. There are some charged parts, and I sticked with the free plan (since I’m not a philosophy student), but it is high quality, and helpful. It is surely worth a try.

### 5/5 — Great learning format

*2025-11-16*

I love the units and lessons provided, but I can't wait until they have more content.

### 2/5 — High Cost, Low Content, and Shady Access Revocation

*2025-11-13*

This subscription is simply too expensive for the content it provides. I quickly finished everything offered and noticed a lack of new material, so I cancel my membership.
The most frustrating part: even though my subscription was valid until mid-July 2026 after cancellation, when I later opened the app, it blocked me from accessing new content, unless I resubscribe. This is unacceptable business practice. I paid for the full year of access and did not receive it.
Ultimately, this was a complete waste of money. Look elsewhere if you expect value and consistent updates.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-09-23, version 1.1.1*

Such a great morning habit

### 1/5 — Can’t find quiz results in app

*2025-09-11*

Once you go through the quiz, you have to enter your CC and download app to see results - which I did because I was that interested (thought there was a free trial, but apparently not!) And then, the results are flashed to you on one page (shoulda took a screenshot), never to be seen again. There is no explanation of the results, no further information, and no way to access them again.
Just a bunch of philosophy books to read. Which is fine if that’s what you want. But I was hoping to learn more about MY OWN philosophy- why I think the way I do. Apparently this app is not the place. I’ll probably delete it today despite paying $12 for it. :-(

### 5/5 — Amazing! Just what I wanted!

*2025-07-20*

Im a philosophy major, and I love this so much. It feels like Duolingo but for philosophy, and is incredible. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Ad with quiz is click bait

*2025-07-06, version 1.0.21*

Ad with quiz is click bait. Not as advertised.
