### 2/5 — Doesn’t even work

*2021-08-16, version 2.3.14*

I have given this app multiple chances and it always lets me down. I purchased premium and synched my Pinterest and even after waiting overnight nothing transferred from Pinterest to Favoreats. And I know I have tons of recipes in the correct format. This happens every year I try to give this app another chance. Will not be trying again

### 2/5 — Used to love it

*2021-08-13, version 2.3.14*

Used to love this app and I still use it but currently on the hunt for an alternative.

I love: that you could import from Pinterest, most websites, and manually add recipes. Meal plan, look at the grocery list, and see ingredients and steps side by side.

Ever since they started the subscription plan things have been downhill. Subscription prices, to me, are outrageous for a single app. Especially when there are so many other alternatives. If the prices were more reasonable for unlimited use or there was a one time upfront fee, I would consider it. You can continue to use the app for free with ads but the amount of ads is excessive and they include pop ups.

To use all of the features that were previously included is $12/month or $70/year! To even ask someone to pay that for an app is absurd. Yes there is a cheaper plan but that is just to be add free and does not unlock the other features.

### 2/5 — Reconsider your cost structure

*2021-04-22, version 2.3.14*

Originally loved the app but looked for something more affordable when they moved all the functionality to a pay to play model. I don’t mind paying... but $70 annually is a joke when there are other recipe apps to choose from. Do some market research and reconsider your pricing model if you want your app to reach its full potential.

### 2/5 — Too many ads and pop ups

*2021-04-12, version 2.3.14*

I love the idea of this app, but it is so difficult to use because there are so many ads throughout the whole app and I can’t even navigate the program. Also, there is a button to print recipes but it doesn’t work-nothing prints. Way too frustrating!

### 2/5 — Okay

*2021-04-09, version 2.3.14*

I like the idea behind this app but it’s hard to navigate. Not intuitive and there should be an easier way to delete “recipes” that come over from Pinterest that aren’t recipes. The technical and usability side needs work.

### 3/5 — Great concept, but buyer beware

*2021-02-20, version 2.3.14*

I love this app. I first started using it when it was free. It syncs with your Pinterest account and makes your grocery list for you! After not using it for a while, since they switched to being a paid app, I decided to bite the bullet and pay. I opted for the basic subscription, because I only use it for the Pinterest syncing and digital grocery list. BEWARE the basic paid subscription only allows 6 meals to be planned for the month. 6 MEALS for and entire month, for a paid meal planning app. I was not able to find this information when deciding to purchase.

**Developer response:** We are glad you love the app and apologize for any confusion that exists about the difference between Free, Basic, and Premium plans. A full comparison between the three is available on the subscription screen in the app at https://favoreatsapp.com/store. We are happy to help facilitate a refund of your Basic subscription if you wish. Please email us at support@favoreatsapp.com with any other questions or concerns.

### 4/5 — Great meal planner

*2020-09-13, version 2.3.6*

I love being able to schedule meals and the ease for creating a shopping list each week, but lately it seems like it’s more glitchy. I’ll try to add meals to the schedule and it freezes, etc.

### 2/5 — Subscription Baiting

*2020-09-08, version 2.3.4*

I used to love this app and all it had to offer. However, when it wouldn’t let me save meals to my plan I was a bit frustrated and confused after years of being able to do so (pre-the decision for developers to start charging for services). So I decided to buy the basic monthly subscription, as I understood that would limit ads and allow me to save meals as before. Unfortunately after only a few days I was blocked from adding meals to my plan again and still received ads to buy the higher subscription... what they term unlimited? Not sure if it is because I tried to add more then 5 or so meals at a time but that seems a bit ridiculous for something you are paying for. Monetary value aside, the biggest problem I had with this app was communication and transparency up front. Canceled basic subscription due to these issues and deleting from phone. I suggest you search for a different meal prepping app, with a more transparent and user-friendly interface.

**Developer response:** We completely understand how the transition from free to a subscription based approach is a difficult one and sincerely wish there were a way to continue to offer our full feature set at no cost to you. We regret any confusion you feel relative to the difference between our Basic and Premium subscription tiers. It is not our intent to be anything other than transparent, and we try to enumerate the included features clearly but will review our descriptions in an effort to remedy any ambiguity. We are sorry to see you go and wish you the best.

### 3/5 — Loved it, but too expensive now

*2020-05-29, version 2.0.9*

I have used this app for a long time and have loved it. I told everyone I knew about it. It has made meal planning and keeping track of all of my online recipes so easy. When they added adds it was a little annoying but I found it worth it to pay the $11 for add free. It hasn’t even been a year since I paid for add free and now I can’t really use the app. Now they want to charge $60 a year or $9.99 a month. That seems a little steep and just can’t afford it. I’m sad I won’t be able to use the app anymore.

### 2/5 — They took away the note feature!

*2020-05-08, version 2.0.7*

You used to be able to makes notes on recipes but now you need a paid subscription to do that!!! Ridiculous! The personalization is what I loved! Besides compiling a grocery list for you, this app is basically just Pinterest for food.

### 2/5 — Used to be great but now they charge.

*2020-03-16, version 2.0.5*

I have been using this app since it first came out! I was obsessed! It was so easy to find recipes and make a meal plan and the best part, it made a shopping with for you!!! But they changed it so now you have to pay $10 a month to use that service and I’m super disappointed. I understand subscriptions take the company lots of money but I can’t throw another $10 charge into my budget every month. I wish they would just make us buy the app and then make it free!
I would recommend the app called paprika. It’s not as good as this app but it’s a one time charge of $5.

### 2/5 — Can’t meal plan without a subscription

*2020-03-01, version 2.0.3*

I’ve been using this app for over a year and loved it. They started introducing ads, which was annoying but fine. Now they have a subscription for $5 a month for you to really be able to do ANYTHING. I’m going to have to find another app because I’m not paying that to meal plan. It’s really sad because I loved this app and told all my friends about it. I understand it costs money to run the app, but I’m not here for that much money a month. If they lowered the cost, maybe I would reconsider. But for now, I’ll be finding something else and won’t be referring people to Favoreats.

I also wish they’d take your last invitees and use those for the invitation for free upgrades thing, as I’ve had many people join from sharing.

**Developer response:** We understand where you are coming from and appreciate your feedback. We sincerely wish there were a way to make Favoreats free for everyone, but unfortunately there just isn't. We also appreciate your sharing the app with your friends and family, which shows just how much you enjoy using it! We would be happy to upgrade your account to the Premium version in appreciation for your sharing. Please send an email to support@favoreatsapp.com and include your Favoreats username and we will extend your Premium access. Going forward, please use the "Invite friends" tool in the app when you share so that your account will upgrade automatically. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Price

*2020-02-29, version 2.0.3*

I absolutely loved this app from the moment it was created. It made life incredibly easy and was easy to use. However, the slow intro of subscriptions that has drastically limited the ability to use the app without buying pro has forced me to seek another platform for meal planning.

### 4/5 — Love the app!

*2019-10-29, version 1.4.2*

Love the app & don’t mind the ads bc I’m not wanting to purchase. Would give five stars when Dark Mode for iPhone is compatible. I can’t read the grocery list (gray too light) & cannot see text when typing in search bar. Also having issues with syncing to Pinterest

### 4/5 — Not happy about the pop-ups

*2019-06-29, version 1.2.5*

Was loving this app and how quick and convenient meal planning was. Favorite features are the shopping list and ability to move around scheduled meals to different days as needed.

Would love to see the ability to consolidate recipes into new or multiple categories. Also would love a way to add my personal recipes.

Recently I’ve had to wait several seconds to even use the app once I open it due to all the advertising pop ups. Additionally, I’ve been asked to pay an EXTRA $1/month to get rid of the ads. Pretty bummed about this. Would have preferred to pay $20 for the app than be locked into paying $1 a month for a lifetime when I go in waves of using it depending on my current life schedule.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. Like you, we don't love the ads. For that reason we offer the ad free subscription. Unfortunately if we move to a paid download model like you suggest, many fewer people will ever give us a look. It's a tough balancing act. We hope you find much more than $1/month value from Favoreats such that paying the $1/month subscription rate is overwhelmingly worth it!

In terms of the features you suggest, we already offer both saving recipes to multiple collections and adding your own recipes. Swipe on any recipe tile in the app and choose "Move Collections" to manage which collections you would like to assign to the recipe. The add your own recipe feature is accessible from the "New Recipe" menu on the profile screen. Please email support@favoreatsapp.com for additional help with these or any other feature. We are always happy to help.

### 4/5 — Missing just 1 thing

*2019-03-06, version 1.1.22*

This is awesome but it is missing the ability to have multiple people contribute to a single collection. My friends and I would love to all contribute to a single collection for recipes that we have tried and know are good, but as of right now we just have to search through each other’s collections manually. Everything else about this is amazing.

**Developer response:** That is a great idea! Stay tuned...we are working on something that will help do just what you are describing! We are so pleased that you are enjoying Favoreats, and we really appreciate your support.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Used to love this app… I won’t use it anymore

*2022-05-16, version 2.3.14*

The ads and pop-ups are insane! The amount of ads that come up make it so hard to actually look at a recipe. I used to use this app all the time but I refuse to use it now. It’s is super frustrating. Especially since there are so many other apps out there, I won’t waste my time with this one.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work unless you pay $70

*2021-05-05, version 2.3.14*

I am disappointed in the changes to the app. It doesn’t work to meal plan unless you pay $70 a year or $12 a month. Which is pretty expensive for a meal planning app. I loved everything about this app before they raised the cost so high.

### 1/5 — Use to love

*2020-07-28, version 2.2.3*

I use to love this app and told anyone that would listen about how easy it was. Downloaded your recipes from Pinterest...that was a huge plus for me...not anymore unless you pay extra. Could add to weekly/monthly menu, not any more unless you pay extra. And sooo many ads...thought that was what was keeping it free. Everything is limited now. Use to be my “go to” for recipes

### 1/5 — Loved this when it was first released

*2020-05-19, version 2.0.9*

This was a great app when it was first released, but now I can only add 6 recipes to my meal plan per month unless I subscribe? No thank you. I’d rather pay a one time fee for full use of an app than a monthly/annual subscription. I tolerated it when the advertisements were added, but I think I’m going to be using a different recipe app from now on.

### 1/5 — Awesome until they made us pay for everything

*2020-03-28, version 2.0.6*

I’ve been using the app from day one and I’ve loved it! I’ve recommended it to numerous friends. And now everything we could do for free we have to pay for 🤬 I totally get it if they make you pay up front, but you can’t take away everything we’ve been doing for months for free and expect us to pay for it out of the blue.

### 1/5 — Only one per day....

*2020-03-09, version 2.0.4*

I loved this app and would promote it to everyone. Family, friends, IG followers, etc. was definitely 5 stars. But now with having to pay to meal plan more than one recipe per day I can not in good faith promote this app any longer to people. Meal planning helps keep people on track, budget, save money, save time and now you are charging to do more than recipe per day? Unless you start planning a week ahead of time you will never be able to use this app effectively. Not to mention if you have a party or like to plan breakfast, lunch and dinner or desert you will never be able to without paying. I don’t think you gave any thought to the fact that many people who use your app can’t afford to pay a monthly subscription that’s why they are Meal planning in the first place! They aren’t planning because they are rich or have money to blow. Give people more choices like 3 or 4 recipes per day and some other cheaper middle of the road option and you get stars back.

**Developer response:** We understand your disappointment, and we wish there were a way to continue to offer all of the features in Favoreats for free. Building and maintaining an app is a very expensive undertaking and without subscriber support, it just wouldn't be possible. We hope you will agree that value you get from Favoreats is well worth the $1.15/week subscription rate, but if not, we understand and wish you well.

### 1/5 — Used to be amazing

*2020-03-07, version 2.0.4*

This app used to be the app I recommended to everyone. Now, you can’t do absolutely anything unless you pay a hefty fee. A while ago they added adds to the free version, which I was perfectly fine with because I understand that apps cost money to run. They have no restricted the free version so much that it is completely unusable.

### 1/5 — Subscription to meal plan :(

*2020-03-04, version 2.0.4*

I loved this app when it first came out as a beta user. As a working mom this helped me out so much. I was getting friends and family to use it.

Then the ads happened and while annoying I could work around it. Now I have to pay to meal plan! No thanks, we will be going back to using a planner till we find a new app!

### 1/5 — Can’t meal plan for free anymore-subscription required ☹️

*2020-02-26, version 2.0.2*

I absolutely loved this app (past tense). I used it everyday and just dealt with the constant ads. It is a brilliant idea but now they have a new subscription required. You can only add one meal each day. Meaning you can no longer meal plan on this app unless you get a subscription. That is the whole purpose of this app. Don’t they get enough cash from the constant ads? $9.99/mo or $60/year. Disappointed and looking elsewhere.

### 1/5 — EMAIL IS NOT OPTIONAL

*2018-10-10, version 1.1.11*

When you sign up they say email is optional. But if you lose track of your sign in info or they automatically sign you out, there is no way to retrieve your password. I tried to sign up again and I can’t because they already have my phone number, it won’t work. Is there a fix for this?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I love this App!!

*2020-04-23, version 2.0.7*

It’s made meal planning and shopping so much easier. Importing recipes is a breeze, and it’s flexible enough to handle my own custom items. The support is exceptional. They are very responsive. I have a hard time spending money on Apps, but I don’t mind it when I get the value. This is definitely worth the money.

### 5/5 — A busy mom’s lifesaver!

*2019-01-24, version 1.1.21*

This is the best meal planning app I’ve ever used! I used to absolutely dread meal planning, list making, and grocery shopping, but this app makes it so easy that I actually enjoy planning and cooking for my family again! It’s easy to use and the comment section on each recipe let’s you know if it’s even worth trying or if something may need tweaking. I wish it was a bit easier to include your own saved recipes, but the grocery list is easy to edit. Love, love, love it!

### 5/5 — Makes meal planning so nice!

*2018-08-05, version 1.1.3*

I love the meal planning feature and the fact you can now add in meals for days you don’t have a recipe for. I’m not usually a recipe follower, but trying to eat better, I’m discovering new meals. This app and online grocery shopping are the best!
