## What is FD Viewer?

Area Forecast Discussions (AFDs) are a text weather product released by the National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Offices to inform and elaborate on the public forecast. FD Viewer presents each office on a map and also displays a list of offices sorted by distance or alphabetically. Selecting an office will display the latest Forecast Discussion paginated by section. Swipe right or left to navigate through each section.

This app merely reformats the web-based AFD information in a user-friendly format.  All credit for the forecast information goes to all the hardworking people at the NWS.

TBD: I plan to support in-app glossary popups that will describe some of the more arcane acronyms and phrases used in the forecast text.

### 1.1.1 — 2024-03-27

Changes have been made to parsing by topic lines.  In short, Topics need to conform to the NWS spec of .TOPIC NAME...  with at least one dot up front.  Some offices are not consistently applying this and it is impossible to sort out a topic 100% accurately without it being conformant.  "New" topic updates are still being stripped but I'm noting them in order to indicate updated sections in some other obvious way.

An error that prevented some text from being displayed has been fixed.  Pago Pago, American Samoa, has been added to the Forecast Offices list.  Note, if a report is not formatted correctly by the office this app will sometimes display incorrectly.
