There seems to be no way to get started without an account with some RSS service. You couldn’t even save to Pocket anymore without paying their ridiculously high monthly fee. So I tried Feedler and was impressed. The layout is very good, there are a lot of options, and it’s a one-time purchase to get rid of the ads instead of a stupid monthly fee. All in all it works very well. I deducted one star Because webpages are displayed with their own internal browser, which isn’t very good, especially for ad heavy sites. And there’s no option to make safari the default browser. At least you can use the option to open webpages in Safari instead. At one time, it was the best rss reader out there. No longer the case. The ability to read the full text of an article no longer functions anymore. If you want to view the full text of an article, you’re forced to use the web view, instead. And, the web view is full of annoying ads and pop ups all over the place. Fortunately, Newsify RSS Reader, to the rescue. Newsify is now my goto rss reader. Feeddler is garbage. ### 1/5 — WAS a great reader. *2019-04-29, version 4.3* —4/29/2019— I still haven’t heard from the developer. Full Text is still not working. —4/18/2019— Full text is still broken and still have not heard back from developer after sending 7th email. —3/29/2019— I really did love this app for years. Somewhat recently, Full Text view starts acting like RSS Sumary view. I made many attempts to contact the developer and never received a single response. Full Text view doesn’t work well over 95% of the time forcing me to view a web page (you know, ones with all those annoying ads). Here hoping the developer get the message and fix the Full Text view issue. I will provide update periodically on whether or not I hear back from the developer and/or no longer experiencing the issue. ### 1/5 — A terrible mistake *2019-03-11* To log in via a third-party account is impossible in a three-tier authorization. I open the application to allow entry, and when I go back to the application, everything is reset and you need to entry everything in a new way. Tried on Google and Microsoft. ### 1/5 — Cannot log in *2018-11-12, version 4.3* The app doesn't play nicely with iOS 12's third-party password management changes. It forces you to use one of several cloud based news readers to view content. Literally, for years. RSS is so useful that I can’t believe it ever tailed off in popularity. Feedler is clean and consise, easy to customize, and lightweight. I’ve tried bunches of others and deleted them each in less that a day. Feedler doesn’t go out of its way to be a show boat. It just delivers the news that I want from the sites that I like (that offer RSS). Come on web developers, add rss to your site.
