On the back of the alarming statistic that only 54% of women have access to relatable mentors, we set out to put an end to the ‘ole boys club. The result is Fellow – an app-based platform that delivers mentorship for the modern world. Changing a few hundred years of status quo? It may sound audacious, but the idea of gender equality shouldn’t be. Fellow is designed to facilitate the exchange of hard-earned knowledge between womxn, enabling real conversations between people who understand each others' experiences and, in the process, weaponizing one of the most powerful forces on the planet: Womxn. The platform works as an exchange of knowledge. During on-boarding, community members will select up to three topics they can offer other members help in. These topics range from career development, interviewing and diversity/inclusion. Users will also have the opportunity to write a short bio, expanding on their expertise and passions. Once inside the app, users will be able to search for potential mentors based on the topics they encountered during on-boarding. After selecting a topic they'd like help in, they'll be able to narrow results based on potential mentors location, experience level and department. Once matches are presented, the user can start a one-on-one chat. As the app is in its initial stages, the bugs are minor and being worked on attentively. Keep using and suggesting to your friends so it can be the best version that it will be. Excited to be a part of this community!! ### 5/5 — This is what I’ve been looking for! *2019-11-09* I’m a junior creative in Alabama. There aren’t many women in creative leadership in my state, so this app completely changes the game for women in my situation. My geographic circumstances no longer hold me back from connecting with relatable mentors, and this will be invaluable for me as I’m trying to break into larger markets. I’ve already made a couple of really solid connections! A++++ ### 2/5 — Not there yet *2019-11-08* Although it is very beautifully designed it lacks basic features. I never got my pin code but somehow was able to override the system to pass to the next step. Then I was unable to pick my city because it wasn’t listed and if it’s not listed you can not enter it. Lastly when I went to look for mentors it either showed the same one result or nothing. I wouldn’t pay for a subscription and I won’t keep this app on my phone for free.
