### 4/5 — Great calculator

*2019-12-15, version 2.6*

I love this app but Mark Hambly would you please update it? There’s many more hops, yeasts, and specialty malts since it was last updated. Would also appreciate highlighting the selected recipe to be able to navigate easier within recipes, like another user reviewed.

### 4/5 — Ok

*2018-12-16, version 2.6*

Reds to update hops selection lemondrop hops not on it and would be great if had the ability to select coopers products as a lme addition

### 4/5 — Mead?!

*2018-10-18, version 2.6*

App is well laid out but would appreciate some common yeast strains for mead making to be added.

### 4/5 — Overall a good app

*2018-07-12, version 2.6*

I haven't used any other app for brewing. This one had good reviews, so it is what I went with. Overall it is a good app and does what I need it to do for what I'm doing. There is one 'issue' I'd like to see addressed... I usually have more than one batch going at any given time and I reference others while working on one (or more). Once you get inside (beyond) the main page, you can't tell which recipe you're looking at. For instance, once in the style, malts, notes... page, you can't see which recipe you're looking at. When bouncing between several recipes it can get confusing and I sometimes put notes in the wrong recipe. If the app would simply highlight the recipe you're looking at in the left column, you could tell for sure which recipe you're working with. Simple fix. Otherwise you have to back out to the 'main' page of the recipe to see, at the top of the page, which recipe you're on. Another 'nice to have' would be if you could import a recipe straight off one or more of the home brew sites (AHA would be nice) since they are all in the same format on a given site. Maybe you can and I just don't know how. Kind of a PITA having to type in all the stuff someone already typed in on their site. RDWHAHB

### 5/5 — My go to brew calculator

*2017-10-22, version 2.6*

I've tried a few different calculators over the years, but I always end up back at this one. Very clean format, great libraries, easy to use, and customizable enough for the more advanced home brewers. I wish it had a print function though. Come brew day, it gets pretty messy and I do a lot of scribbling with pencil and paper.

### 5/5 — So easy

*2017-07-01, version 2.6*

Really useful for All grain brewing! Great App & easy to use! Thanks👍

### 5/5 — Great Brewer's Friend

*2017-05-27, version 2.6*

I love this app! I'm a beginning brewer and it helps me craft my own recipes with ease. The OG is generally spot on and FG and ABV are usually pretty close. I've had a lot of fun using this app to create beer recipes.

### 4/5 — Simple and Effective

*2017-03-05, version 2.6*

It's easy to log and track recipes and sessions. It really requires very few clicks. I have tried a few other apps and others take much longer to add new recipes. I'll up to 5 stars when they add a timer ;). Download and try with 5 slots for free so nothing to loose to give it a go.

### 4/5 — Best app I've found

*2017-01-28, version 2.6*

Great app. Interface is clean and most navigation / use makes sense. By far the biggest drawback is not being able to sync across devices.

### 5/5 — Easy to use anywhere

*2016-11-26, version 2.6*

I have tried many apps for recording my brew day decisions. This is by far the best.

### 5/5 — I've tried this rest...

*2016-04-20, version 2.6*

This is just my favorite, there may be some little issues here and there, but when it comes to being a solid easy to use brewing recipe app, you can't go wrong.

### 4/5 — Good - needs a couple tweaks

*2016-04-07, version 2.6*

I like this app. Full disclosure - I am using the free version. If 3 things were addressed, I'd probably buy it and abandon my spreadsheets and just use this.

1). Water volume calculations appear off.

2). The font on the export email is tiny. Can't read it.

3). I'd love to see a brewing salt addition calculator in here. That's not a deal breaker for me though.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2019-12-10, version 2.6*

Very difficult to use. When you’re messing around something for 10 minutes and still can’t figure it out that’s why it’s time to go to another app. Do not download this app terrible.

### 1/5 — No longer in active develooment... or support

*2019-06-14, version 2.6*

Did not notice that the app had not been updated in 3 years. Paid to add 25 recipes, which caused the app to crash on open.

If it was actively supported, this would be a great app.

### 1/5 — Não calcula o IBU

*2018-04-21, version 2.6*

O app não esta funcionando corretamente, não realizando a estimativa se IBU que será alcançada após fervura

### 1/5 — Fine until they updated it

*2013-06-22, version 2.01*

After an update nothing seemed to work.

### 2/5 — Just a few drawbacks (updated review August 2018)

*2018-08-19, version 2.6*

Love the app. I'm able to come up with a complete brew-day plan and everything is very easy to use / see. But not being able to sync between devices is a pretty big problem for various and obvious reasons. I would be more inclined to purchase the unlimited recipes option (currently just purchased the 30 slots) if I felt like the devs were working toward the sync thing. Until then it just kind of feels like it's second fiddle to beersmith (similarly priced). Also, call me old school but some sort of desktop site would also be nice. (Update) revised my rating from a 4 Star to a 2 Star and here’s why. Most recent version / update is over 2 years ago. I paid for additional slots and lost all my recipes -approx a dozen- when I changed from android to iOS. Wrote in to the devs and heard nothing back. Finally broke down and went with beersmith. I have no idea why I waited as long as I did. Really wanted this to be my brewing app that would evolve with my hobby but it just didn’t happen.

### 2/5 — Missing a lot

*2018-03-10, version 2.6*

Has a lot of potential, but after one hour of use I found these big flaws:
- can't remove things you add: grain, hops, mash rest. Once added it is there forever. Hops and grain can be zeroed out so their presence doesn't effect anything, but not a mash rest.
- mash water and temp calculations get all messed up when creating second sparge or mash out - and you can't fix it by deleting it
- yeast catalog is far from complete: no Lallemand Belle Saison, no Fermentis Abbaye/BE-256, no Lallemand Abbaye (I think this guy doesn't like Belgian beer)
- local data only. No sharing among devices.
- you can export a recipe in a structured format - but you can't import what you exported
- can't paste photos in the notes.

Too much missing for me.

### 3/5 — Good, but can use some improvements.

*2018-11-24, version 2.6*

As a mead maker, a lot of the information in the app doesn’t necessarily apply. The whole UI font needs to be able to be scaled, I.e, some fonts are too small to read. The notes page is the worse....what is that....4pts font size? Almost need a magnifying glass and yet, I’ve got reading glasses.

It does the job, I suppose.

### 3/5 — Nice, but not maintained?

*2018-05-29, version 2.6*

It seems like a cool app. I’ll be trying it out in my next batch. However, no releases in 2 years? I hate to invest in extending capacity to find out no one it maintaining it, making bug fixes, or enhancements.

### 3/5 — It does the job without syncability

*2016-05-17, version 2.6*

The biggest drawback to this app so far is not being able to sync between devices. The developers have still not added this feature even for those who paid $9.99 for infinite recipe slots. The export feature also isn't great. Goes only to email. Importing would be nice too.

### 3/5 — Nice app, dry hop calculation does not work

*2016-03-22, version 2.6*

I like the app, the dry hop calculator does not work. Added different values of Citra up to a pound, and the IBU's did not change.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2023-05-09, version 5*

Best designed app I have seen for recipe keeping and brew tracking. Huge ingredient list. Easy to use interface. Numbers are spot on. Makes brew day a breeze.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-10-10, version 5*

I’ve used this app for 70+ brews. It does everything I need. The ability to export to the iPhone outlook app would be useful.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-05-18, version 5*

I’ve used both brewlog and BeerSmith and I will keep with brewlog because it is easier to follow and you can export and print your recipes. In the app there is a log that is continuous and allows me to make notes. Thanks for the updates

### 5/5 — The best recipe app out there

*2020-05-12, version 4*

This app is so user friendly. It is also customizable to meet your recipe spec needs. I strongly encourage using this app for all recipe designs. The best!!

Testimonial from 2006 California Homebrewer of the Year.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-09-28, version 2.6*

Easy to use. 43 recipes and counting

### 5/5 — Brew

*2019-08-04, version 2.6*

Muito bom!

### 5/5 — Go to app for brewing

*2018-09-08, version 2.6*

Although you can only keep 5 beers in the free version, you have the option to export via email or printing to keep 5 of your latest brews. App contains everything you need to brew from start to finish. Input grain bill, hops and yeast and it will determine your output including water needed to brew to hit your 5gal target.
By far the best free app for brewing.

### 5/5 — Great for the price

*2018-04-15, version 2.6*

Fun way to keep track of everything beer. Much easier than keeping a notebook on brew day

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-03-09, version 2.6*

Hold all the brewing records I need on this app. Use all the functions. It's been around for a while and had many good reviews. They seem to have disappeared. The developer is very helpful if you have a problem.

### 5/5 — Effective & super simple

*2017-11-21, version 2.6*

I have tried other brewing apps and keep coming back to this one. It is super easy & quick to use
