## What is Fern?

Fern is the eating disorder recovery app built by people who've lived it.

Whether you're managing anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, or any other ED, Fern gives you the tools to understand your patterns, work through hard moments, and support your recovery.

Fern is not a food diary. Meal moments in Fern are about how eating feels, emotionally and physically and not what or how much you ate.

Log feelings, meal moments, movement, and urges. See your whole month in a beautiful calendar view. Understand your patterns without pressure.

A simple mood check-in that meets you wherever you are, whatever kind of day you're having.

Short, evidence-based content covering the restrict-binge cycle, emotional eating, body trust, nervous system regulation, and more.

Export your full log as a PDF or CSV to bring into your next therapy session.

No ads. No selling your data. Everything you log belongs to you.

Fern is for anyone in eating disorder recovery who needs more than a weekly session can give. It is not a replacement for professional treatment, it is the support that helps in between.

Fern is a wellness support tool. It is not a medical device or substitute for professional eating disorder treatment.

Fern is free to download. Full access to all features requires a Fern Premium subscription at $9.99/month, which includes a 7-day free trial. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iPhone Settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-18

We've been smoothing the edges so Fern feels a little gentler every time you open it.

Every check-in and log now ends the same calm way — a soft, living gradient and one kind word instead of a busy screen
Light mode got a full polish, so everything's easy on the eyes, morning or night
More breathing room on your home screen — less to take in, more space to just be

New to Fern? You can try it free — start your trial anytime and see if it's a fit, no pressure.
Thank you for showing up for yourself. We're honored to be part of it.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-06-19

What's new in Fern

Recovery Wins — a calm new place to save your small victories (a fear food faced, a rest day taken, a moment of self-compassion) and come back to them on the harder days. It's always free.
A note from the founder — a short, personal message when you begin, on why Fern exists.
Add a photo to a meal moment — optional, and it stays private on your device.
A refreshed profile — your space is now easier to read at a glance.
Gentler learning visuals — the reading modules have softer, more inviting illustrations.
Calmer motion throughout — smoother, quieter animations across the whole app.
"Movement" instead of "exercise" — gentler language, and you can now include movement in your exported log.
Smoother and steadier — fixed an issue that could cause the app to freeze after logging a few times.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-11

The version currently live on the App Store contains a subscription-enforcement bug. Due to an error in our entitlement logic, users are able to dismiss the paywall and continue accessing premium functionality indefinitely without an active subscription. As a small team, this is causing meaningful, ongoing revenue loss every day it remains live.
Version 1.2.0 corrects this by properly enforcing the premium entitlement: the free tier is now limited to basic logging, and all other premium features correctly prompt the subscription. Restore Purchases and the introductory free-trial offer continue to function as configured.
Because the issue is actively impacting our revenue while the current version is live, we would be very grateful if this update could be expedited.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-06-04

Bug fixes and performance improvements, including a fix for the onboarding screen showing on every app launch, and improved subscription flow for new users.

### 1.0 — 2026-05-27

No release notes.
