They’re clean and minimalistic, but not simple. The game is really beautiful overall. However, I’ve found that there is often a tiny amount of lag between making contact with the screen and the little character’s jump, which consequently leads to “death.” It’s really frustrating to play because it’s difficult to play for very long due to lag. ### 4/5 — Beautiful game but bugs *2019-02-11, version 1.4* This game is so beautiful and the ambience is wonderful, however every time I go to play it, I can get into it for like 10 seconds and then it kicks me out completely. Beautiful design, neat and simple gameplay. Not much to say but honestly can’t emphasize enough how great the visuals are. My only complaint gameplay wise is that it takes too long to earn the in-game currency that you need to buy new characters, however the default character is fine on its own. Recently I haven’t been able to play it at all though because it keeps crashing. But, I am upset because lately it has been crashing in the middle of me playing the game. This game’s main song might be actually cure my depression. I just want to say that your game is incredibly calming and meditative, and I find myself hypnotized while playing. That being said, on my iPhone XS Max, the pause button at the top of the screen is cut off by the notch. Could you please have a fix for this in an update? Maybe just allow us to adjust our UI safe area in settings? Also, if you’re reading this far! I’m sure you’re probably adding more characters at some point (the fox is beautiful), but please have whoever composed the music make another track or so for us! He/she is very talented! Keep up the good work- please make me change this to a 5 star! ### 4/5 — This game has lots of potential. *2018-09-16, version 1.3* This game is truly a great visual experience. I love the simplicity of the levels and the characters. It has potential to be something even bigger. One thing that would make this stronger would be creating an incentive for collecting the fireflies. What is their purpose? Some were in difficult spots and therefore a meaning for the fireflies would compel the player to challenge themselves when trying to collect them. In terms of a scaling difficulty, if you choose to make the environment the focus (which I hope it is because it’s stunning) a scaling difficulty could be to add more environmental hazards as oppose to enemies. That way of the focus is on the level itself, the player will have to pay attention to all aspects of it to advance, including the hazards. The crumbling rocks is a great start. Keep up the great work! ### 4/5 — Great but... *2018-08-30, version 1.3* I really like Fern Flower. The music, the graphics, it’s just beautiful. But there are some things that bug me. #1. Exits out of the game Sometimes when I’m playing it just randomly exits me out without warning. It’s annoying and I would like it to be fixed. #2. Monument Valley???? I had Monument Valley once. This game has very similar music and theme. Maybe you borrowed the music from Monument Valley? Idk. I am awaiting and update/response. ### 4/5 — Visually Mesmerizing! *2018-08-19, version 1.3* Need a short little escape from the mundane? Look no further! Great game to put down once you perish or pick up and challenge yourself when you’re bored. A beautiful modern take on fairytale creatures & landscapes. Players beware- dont get too lost in the ambiance! Sooner rather than later your thumbs will turn cold and your phone will no longer recognize the touch, therefore you falling to your death lol ### 4/5 — Its very good but it could use some things *2018-07-15, version 1.3* It’s a very good and eye-pleasing game, but it’s very repetitive and boring after awhile. Maybe add a more detailed story line, with different levels? Such as making the thing you climb on in the beginning stop at some point, and then you do something else with the character. Maybe add in enemies and different characters to add to the story? ### 4/5 — I loved it, but I have a concern *2018-07-06, version 1.3* The game is great and fun, but it has useless mechanics. Like the use of fire flies. They hold no purpose other then multiplying your score. It’s frustrating that I collect a lot of fireflies but only one of the flowers. I think that there should be more flowers around, not as many as fire flies. But I can go up to 500 meters and not a single flower shows. Other than that the game is fun. ### 5/5 — PLS LOOK DEVELOPER VERY IMPORTANT... *2018-07-05, version 1.3* The game is so beautiful in art style music and sound but their is nothing here. It needs a story or something to push it and give us more why make a beautiful game with no pages to the story except the small story before the game. Making the game become boring very quickly if their were enemies guarding the flower i just feel a story would just make this game soooo more addictive and you could connect yourself more with the characters and what’s the point of the fireflies other than giving you a small point up? The ambiance music is beautiful and I like it when you collect a flower of a firefly it isn’t a loud noise but a nice quiet ping. Love the music, the simplicity, the unique mysterious characters... I just wish there were other worlds to unlock. Make it more fun! ### 3/5 — v1.4 on iOS 13.4.1 (iPhone SE 2020) *2020-05-26, version 1.4* Cons and pros Cons: •• Constantly drops frames, which not only jerks the image a bit, it ignores your input, making it highly likely to not register your taps (which have to be quite precise at times) and fall to a game over - It can be highly frustrating: -2 What puzzles me, is that I had a lot less dropped frames with an iPhone 6+, which is about 5 generations of processor older, has 2GB less of RAM, and has a larger screen resolution to process at a time (thus, needing more power). They’re phenomenal. Although the graphics were amazing, the instructions on how to play weren’t amazing. I had no idea how to play after experimenting for a half hour. Has a few glitches that make it incredibly annoying (hit pause and your guy still falls, or worse where it doesn’t register your tap and either you don’t jump at all or it waits a second each time). It’s addicting enough where you want to beat your last score, but feels like it’s missing something. More characters would be cool, different scenery/maps, maybe pick-up items or boosts that you can get while jumping along. I promise you. Listen to the words of a gamer who cares about your success. This is a fun little game. It’s stressful and relaxing at the same time. -I like the music. -I like the gameplay, simple yet addicting. -I do not like that fireflies mean nothing but a slight increase in your score. They should mean more. You should have things you could spend them on, even if cosmetic. We like cosmetics. We like change. -I do not like that in order to revive (which I never will) it costs five flowers, yet in the admittedly short time I’ve been playing, I get maybe two each run. Nobody will ever sacrifice the progress they made and then some like that. It’s easier and better to just start over. -Sometimes when I tap to go up a cliff, it doesn’t register that I tapped and I fall to my death. Figured I’d mention it. Summary: make those fireflies worth it. I find myself skipping them if they are floating out of my way. I’m sure you’re still working on improving this game. It is beautiful. I dig the music, and the vibes. I dig the gameplay. I am simply here to give advice that I hope you may follow. I want to see you succeed. A few suggestions *2022-03-02, version 1.4* This is a really great game and has been helping me improve as an artist. However, even the best things still have room for improvement. First, I’ve seen a lot of reviews talking about adding more characters. In my opinion, it would be really intriguing if we had many different characters, each with their own unique design. Maybe a purple bat, possibly a teal monkey or primate, and maybe even a few insect themed characters like spiders and bees. Second, I had an idea where you could convert fireflies into flowers, or you could use them to unlock new biomes and themes with different challenges and quirks. Maybe one has moving platforms, and maybe another might include an active volcano where you have to get away from lava and falling objects. Finally, you should add a rewards system depending on how far you jump in a round. There might be prize boxes where you can win fireflies, flowers, accessories, and maybe even event exclusive characters. It’s beautiful. The music and art style are superb. It’s got a calming sense to it. Simple to play even young children could play the game and enjoy it. It’s peaceful and has a nice selection of characters in the amazing art style. The game is so simple I think maybe adding just a tiny bit more to the game would be a bit refreshing. Maybe in future updates. The only thing I find difficult are that these flowers you need to unlock characters are few and far in between so if your looking to unlock the aurochs (the first unlockable character in the game.) you will be spending a lot of time and effort just to save up a whopping 100 flowers. I have yet to see any reason for the fireflies except to coax players of the rock side to get to them or to unlock an achievement in the Game Center. There is a reason for them later on in the game as the fox character will grant you a flower for every 30 fireflies you get but again this character is the I believe third unlockable character making the goal for the flowers you need seem almost unreachable. Again I’m not knocking this beautiful game but to really advance past the doe character you will be spending a great deal of time playing this game. But is that even a bad thing. Despite the difficulty advancing in this game I still have to rate it 5 outta 5 starts for how stunning and addictive it really is. I think if more fun little details were added in, it would make the whole experience a lot more entertaining. For instance, if the flowers were guarded by something, an enemy, they would be more challenging to get. Also, if the fireflies did something else other than just give you a few extra points. Like if they could buy power ups and stuff like that. This game is absolutely gorgeous. The developers have nailed everything down to a tee and the aestheticism of this game is just absolutely incredible. I can’t help but fall in love with everything this game has to offer from the simple graphics and gameplay, the stellar score, the colors, the character, the changes in setting, to even the way the grass moves or the pause menu.
