## What is Fernando?

The dial still works.

Fernando puts the radio dial from the greatest era of open-world games back in your hands — and in your car. Every station of six games, still broadcasting, exactly the way you remember them.

This isn't a playlist app. Fernando is a faithful recreation of the original in-game radio logic, rebuilt from the ground up:

• Stations keep playing while you're tuned away. Retune an hour later and you'll land mid-song, mid-ad, mid-rant — wherever the programme actually got to.
• Real sequencing. DJ intros and outros, station idents, adverts, and talk breaks are scheduled by the same rules the games used — not shuffled.
• Gapless, authentic transitions. Songs flow through their original baked-in intros and fades. No synthetic crossfades, ever.
• The dial feels right. Tuning static, clicks, and retune sounds come from your game's own sound banks.
• Real weather. In Grand Theft Auto IV, the radio follows the weather and the time of day in a city you choose.
• CarPlay. It's a car radio. Put it in a car.

SUPPORTED TITLES

Fernando reads the radio audio directly from your own copy of:

• Grand Theft Auto III (2001) — PC and PlayStation 2
• Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) — PC and PlayStation 2
• Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) — PC and PlayStation 2
• Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (2005) — PlayStation 2
• Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006) — PlayStation 2
• Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) — PC (Complete Edition) and PlayStation 3

Point Fernando at a PC installation folder — or import an archive, or an image of your own game disc — and it does the rest.

IMPORTANT

Fernando contains no music, no audio, and no game content. It is a player for files you already own: you must have your own legally obtained copy of the games listed above. Fernando does not include, download, or unlock any copyrighted material.

Fernando is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., or Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. ### 5/5 — New Favorite App

*2026-10-06*

Much more enjoyable than looking up playlists based on these stations. Been enjoying this immensely on my commute.

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2026-10-06*

This is insanely cool to have! Thank you truly for making this

### 5/5 — Absolute nostalgia on the go!

*2026-10-05*

Can’t thank the dev enough for creating this! Having all these radio stations in one place playing exactly like they would in-game is mind blowing.
The only thing I could possibly ask for is that the older stations show the currently playing song title like it does for GTA IV.

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2026-09-17*

The perfect app for GTA fans! Always been a fan of the music in GTA games, and the ability to be able to have them on the go in one place is perfection!

Would be great if you could import music from GTA 4 eventually!

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2026-09-17*

This has replaced Spotify for me for the time being. I love tuning in and hearing the classic radio stations. I thought 3 would be my favorite set of radio stations, but Vice City has been my main rotation.

Can’t wait for 4 and 5 to come along eventually!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.2 — 2026-10-09

Fernando now fits iPhone Duo, and names the song on the air.

• iPhone Duo: open, your library and a game sit side by side, split at the fold. Open or closed, every screen keeps clear of the fold and the status bar down the side.
• The player names the song on the air under its cover — title, artist and station — for Grand Theft Auto IV.
• CarPlay follows your car's light or dark appearance, so its text is readable in a car set to light.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-06

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City joins the dial, and Fernando now runs on iOS 18.

• Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City — thirteen stations from your own PlayStation 3 disc, with the radio from both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
• The Grand Theft Auto IV & Episodes from Liberty City disc adds both games to your library at once.
• North American and European discs both work.
• Fernando now runs on iOS 18, so it works on more devices.
• Fixes a brief flash of the stopped state when tuning in to a station.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-04

Grand Theft Auto IV joins the dial, and Fernando comes to iPad.

• Grand Theft Auto IV — all twenty-three stations of the PC Complete Edition, with the radio from The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, or nineteen from your own PlayStation 3 disc.
• Its radio follows the weather and the time of day in a city you choose: New York, unless you pick another in Settings.
• Its songs are named as they air — in the player, on the Lock Screen and in CarPlay.
• iPad: your library and a game side by side, in any orientation, with keyboard shortcuts for importing and tuning.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-16

Two more cities on the dial, and your console discs now work too.

• Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories—nineteen more stations, read straight off your own disc.
• PlayStation 2 discs are now supported for every title, alongside the PC versions.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-14

This update fixes an issue that prevented Fernando from appearing in CarPlay.
