### 4/5 — Had to buy

*2026-08-03*

It good like you can listen to the story on the app but haven’t found away to listen to summary of story’s via app or tablet text to speech

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Supporting summaries and author notes in TTS is something we would love to do in the future.

### 4/5 — Fic filtering bug

*2026-06-20*

Hello I love using this app for read fics on AO3 since I use mobile and its easier to read fics using this app but there is a bug with the filtering system that I’ve noticed where when I add tags to be excluded in my custom feed the tag just continues showing up even when I remove it with it not removing the fics with that tag and continues showing the tag even after I made sure it was meant to be excluded when I filtered for fics in the fandom I was looking at fics for so please fix it.

**Developer response:** Thank your for your feedback! Could you reach out to support@fictivity.app and share your custom feed settings? That would help us identify the potential cause of the issue. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best app

*2026-03-30*

The same as 3AM reader app, so sad its gone but this app is the exact same, connected to AO3 and saves my fics and picks up where i lwf off, so greatttt 🤤🤤

**Developer response:** Glad to hear that you enjoy the app. Thank you for writing a review!

### 5/5 — Good stuff

*2026-03-11, version 1.2.4*

Good stuff

### 4/5 — 4.5 Just Missing 1 Thing IMO

*2026-03-07*

I really like this app but would like it if stories that I’m following would appear in the custom feeds like they did in the 3AM app. I seem to be “losing” stories bc the search function is glitchy and does not always pull up fics when being searched for in my library. It appears once I’m reading/following/saved a fic they do not appear again in the search function outside of the library. If fics still appeared in the feeds it would be easier to keep track.

Thank you!

**Developer response:** Hi there! Currently, stories saved in your library do not appear in feeds to help you keep discovering new stories to read, but we'll consider make this behavior configurable. They should still show up when searching with the search bar on Discover tab, or searching within your library. You could also check if your global filters might be blocking it. Feel free to email support@fictivity.app to help us learn more about your issue. Thank you for taking the time to write a review!

### 4/5 — Problem

*2026-03-03*

I enjoy the app but there are constantly something wrong with the app that needs to be fixed . It’s really frustrating especially when I’m reading something and it won’t load

**Developer response:** Hi! It was caused by the AO3 downtime which we cannot control.

### 5/5 — Fire

*2026-01-21, version 1.1.2*

I love it so much it’s peak

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2026-01-18*

I was so excited to see a new version of the previous 3am app. It has several awesome features that I wish AO3 would implement. I love that it tracks stories you’ve already read or started, and when you open it, it picks up right where you left off—unlike AO3.
I also love the talk-to-text feature, even though it can be a bit glitchy at times, with voices occasionally cutting out or reading from a previous fic and needing to be reset. I really appreciate that it connects directly to my AO3 account, so I can see my bookmarks, saved-for-later items, and locked fics without going back and forth between the two.
The annual fee is very reasonable.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to write a review and providing feedback!

### 5/5 — Keeping the Devs Awake

*2025-12-29*

Great features, my favorite being able to “share” the ao3 fics to the app, dark mode for reading at night, and the ability to customize fonts. Great app all around and worth a download for sure.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We're glad to hear you find the app useful!

### 5/5 — Buggy (update)

*2025-12-21*

Fictivity is good, but it has this bug for when a story updates, the app doesn’t show the actual new chapter that was added, doesn’t matter the amount of times i refresh it or use the “check for updates” button, it just won’t update, i was told to delete the app and download it again for it to update but in reality, who wants to keep doing that?

There is another bug with the writing itself, when reading, i realize some sentences are missing, so when i highlight it and leave the app, it pops up but doing this repeatedly does get annoying, i hope both of these bugs do get fixed ASAP, cause the app is good.
(( App is way better now, updated my review))

**Developer response:** Both issues have been fixed in the latest version. Feel free to contact support if you continue to experience them.

### 4/5 — pretty good

*2025-12-13*

it’s a pretty good app, i don’t really have many problems with it. but i do feel like too many of the things to do on this app are blocked by a pay wall. i wish i could make at least a few collections without having to pay, bc me as well as many others don’t have enough money to pay for perks on a fanfiction app. i also wish we could download fixs without having to pay. i do a lot of traveling and therefore i will be out of wifi a lot. and because of the lack of wifi, i presume i probably wont be able to read the fics on here. other than that, its a great app! the fics are great quality and i can read them well.

### 4/5 — Nice but still a bit glitchy

*2025-12-02*

I enjoy having an app that reads to me since it allows me to enjoy my stories when I’m busy. The price is also not bad for a full year. Only issues are that the app is still a bit glitchy. The experimental voices don’t work and sometimes the reader will cut off and I have to turn it back on. Also when starting a new story, it will often continue reading aloud the last one instead. To work around have to skip ahead to the next paragraph and it will then start reading the new fic.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Improving text-to-speech and ensuring experimental voices performs well on all devices is an ongoing effort. We weren't able to reproduce the issue of the app reading the last story when you start a new one though. If you encounter the issue again feel free to email support@fictivity.app and we will look into it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitch🙁

*2026-05-10, version 1.2.9*

The app won’t open

### 1/5 — Won’t open

*2026-05-03, version 1.2.8*

No matter what I do the app will not open.

### 1/5 — Mad

*2025-12-05*

I was reading and then next thing Ik I’m kicked from the app and it’s not asking me to log in? I never had to log in before and when I try it’s telling me “something is wrong” like what? I never made an account or anything if this is some way of making ppl buy the subscription that is just wrong

**Developer response:** Hi, it was caused by the Cloudflare outage on Dec 5 which has been resolved. Feel free to reach out to support if you need help.

### 1/5 — Ehhh

*2025-11-20, version 1.0.6*

Pretty confusing, log in won’t work, doesn’t have a clear place for me to find where I can start writing.

### 2/5 — Used to love it but the lag is unbearable now

*2026-07-15*

Simply put you can’t do anything without intense lag in the app anymore, I use fictivity because I hate reading on web and I have used fictivity since it was 3am and loved it, but now the lag is so horrendous I can’t even open a doc without having to wait 5 minutes for the app to respond. Might be time to switch apps.

**Developer response:** Could you email support@fictivity.app and share your device and os version so that we can look into this? Thank you.

### 2/5 — I want to love this app

*2026-06-15*

Notes feature doesn’t work.

Please allow for manual notes to be added or a default notes button similar to the bookmark button, or give the book mark button a double feature for bookmark or notes when pressed.

The holding down highlighted text does not work. At least allow Manuel entry and the ability to copy text, which isn’t a thing for some reason.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your feedback. Text copy option should show up when selecting text, but it sounds like it did not show up for your. Could you reach out to support@fictivity.app and share your OS version so that we can investigate this issue? Thank you!
PS: you can add notes via the "Write down your thoughts" button at the bottom of a chapter.

### 2/5 — Skipping paragraphs

*2025-10-31*

It pauses the voice speech or takes seconds to start reading again

**Developer response:** We'd like to learn more about the issue you experienced. Feel free to reach out to support at support@fictivity.app

### 3/5 — Can’t handle high word count fics

*2026-06-16*

Hello I just wanted to say that this is a good app it just can’t handle really big fics like 400k word fics and well.

**Developer response:** We've made improvements in the latest versions. Feel free to update the app and try it out. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Kinda Useless Without Paying

*2025-12-31*

I was really excited to try this out, and I can admit that there are some cool features. But you really can’t do anything without paying for the subscription. You can’t make collections, you can’t read restricted fics, you can’t lock the app, you can’t easily import fics you’ve read outside of their browser, you can’t connect to ao3, and it doesn’t seem like there’s any way to actually track your reading stats besides the time you spend in their app.

I’ll most likely try the free trial, but for those of you who want to track your stats WITHOUT paying a subscription fee, I’d recommend using SoftGoods.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2025-10-29*

Fictivity is good, but it has this bug for when a story updates, the app doesn’t show the actual new chapter that was added, doesn’t matter the amount of times i refresh it or use the “check for updates” button, it just won’t update, i was told to delete the app and download it again for it to update but in reality, who wants to keep doing that?

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2026-08-23*

I can hardly stand to visit AO3 directly anymore. This app searches fics for me, lets me know when they update, allows me to follow authors, and makes it easy to comment without leaving its nice, clean interface.

There are only a few places where I'd like to see improvements: better support for skins (some social media fics force me to visit the site), ability to follow specific series as well as authors, and--my fantasy feature--a way to export lists (collections or custom) for sharing recs with others.

But even as is I think this is a woefully underhyped app and I tell everyone about it.

**Developer response:** So glad to hear that you're enjoying the app, and thank you for sharing your suggestions! Feel free to share a few fics where skins are not supported well with support@fictivity.app so that we can look into it.

### 5/5 — Been 5 star until recently

*2026-08-07*

So I’ve been using this app for a while I love it especially text to speech function but recently a lot of my fictions have been saying couldn’t load content for text to speech. I’ve deleted stories re-downloaded nothing works. Please look into this guys it’s ruining my experience 🥲

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Feel free to share some links to stories you couldn't load to support@fictivity.app so that we can investigate further. You can also try clearing cache in settings. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best AO3 App!

*2026-08-03*

Thank you! This app is amazing!

To potential users:

I did some investigating and I think this app is made by an individual developer or maybe a very small group who clearly care about the usability of the app. I’ve only been using it for a few weeks (and I happily subscribed to the payed version when the free trial was over) so here are my thoughts so far…

Pros:
- The pricing is reasonable
- The privacy/data collection policy is not scummy! No seriously—I care about this immensely! Most other “free” apps of this sort are showing ads and collecting user data to resell! They are not really free
- Backups are easy and available for the free version / iCloud is supported for payed users
- The actual reader is fantastic! Seriously, developer, I’m dyslexic and I have a request—would you consider making an ereader app? I’m going to send you an email about this but tl;dr the reading experience is the most accessible I’ve ever had. Particularly, because you allow the adjustment of contrast. I (and many other dyslexics) do better with LOW contrast so it’s so refreshing to see that supported!

**Developer response:** Glad to hear you're having a great experience! Usability is the whole point of a reading app, your recognizing the care we put in the app means a lot. Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review!

### 5/5 — i love this

*2026-07-15*

I was a big user of the app 3AM until one day it randomly got deleted and I was very upset. I wish I was able to track how much time I spent reading on the app just like I am on this app and this app is awesome. I love being able to keep notice of the stories I’ve read and how much I’ve read also while being able to see how much time I’ve spent reading and the percentage of where I’m at in the story. This is an awesome app and it is so much better than using AO3
 on Safari love this app.

**Developer response:** Glad to hear you like the app! Thank you for taking the time to share your review.

### 5/5 — Nice interface

*2026-07-10*

It feels very sleek and customizable with minimal to no adds I’ve seen so far

**Developer response:** Glad to hear you like the app! There is no ads. Thank you for writing a review!

### 5/5 — The app is good

*2026-06-08*

That is good and easy to use i’m illiterate and it helps me listen to books easy to use and easy to navigate sorry if there’s any spelling mistakes

**Developer response:** We're glad that you find it helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write a review!

### 5/5 — show finished works option

*2026-05-25*

everything is fine, the app is super comfortable, but please add an option "show only finished" or "show only unfinished" in the feed filters, to reread the favourites from each interest and not search for them among all finished works. also would be nice to see a few most popular tags in the feed filter, like on ao3 site.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to write a review and sharing your suggestions!

### 5/5 — It’s great

*2026-04-26*

For literally month I tried finding a good app for audio fic and I finally found one it’s awesome

**Developer response:** Wonderful to hear! Thank you!

### 5/5 — My review!
