### 4/5 — Nice functionality, would be super useful if it could include AU plugin interaction

*2023-12-26*

From the review history not many folks have reviewed this app for quite some time, and some of the early reviews reported issues. It did take some hunting to find Fidelia, but it works well enough now. It has a transparent sound and this remote app that makes computer audio music playback much more convenient and useful, especially since it can run AU plugins. If only the remote could offer adjustments on some AU parameters it would be great. I am hoping the developers are still active and will entertain an update to allow AU plugin interaction.

**Developer response:** Hi @RonfromTexas! We heard you: The latest [100% new] Fidelia Remote update includes AU plugin interaction. Check it out, and if you like it, I'd love for you to update to 5-stars.

### 4/5 — Good job.

*2022-12-26, version 1.6.1*

Easier to find/play stuff out of my mountain of stuff than the otherwise underwhelming root application. Excellent really. Not 5* as there are no track repeat or playlist buttons. Upadate this and I will gladly award the full five stars😎

### 2/5 — Good but...

*2014-12-26*

I love Fidelia, it's the cheapest of the Audiophile music players, but the remote is lacking in major features.

I would love to be able to have more control from my phone; shuffle, repeat, access the equalizer settings, would be great additions. Also, this app is really buggy, many times failing to connect unless I restart either the app on my phone or my computer.

All in all, if it actually worked, I would give this a 4 stars, until much needed features were added.

### 3/5 — Useful, but could be better

*2014-03-22*

I have used Fidelia for a couple of years. As a music player, I like it very much. I decided to try the remote app although I thought that the price was too high given the fact that I've already spent a lot of money buying the music player. This is a very basic remote. It only allows you to control playback and volume. There is no access to any EQ functions. The player software must be running on your Mac in order to use the remote. The app gives you access to your music library and playlists. You can sort the library by song artist or album as well as search the library. In that respect it is more user-friendly than the player itself. In summary, this is a useful app, but it is too expensive given the price of the music player software and it's advanced add-ins. The other minus is that you can't access all the functions of the player software.

### 3/5 — Needs one thing badly

*2013-06-05*

It is a fine interface but really needs to add an ability to create a playlist on the fly and/or at least cue a next up song. It would make the remote so much more useful.

### 4/5 — Really nice

*2012-08-04*

Good remote. Too expensive, should be about $2.99 at most. An easier way to switch between computers would be nice.

### 4/5 — Remote works, but could be better

*2012-07-31, version 1.1.0*

It works most of the time. Stalls once in a while and I have to restart Fidelia on the Mac. Would be nice if they included cover art and had a full screen version for the iPad.

### 4/5 — Works well with Fidelia Music Player

*2011-07-22, version 1.0.1*

Great remote app. Let's you navigate through your music collection via Fidelia. Fast and simple to use. No unnecessary bells or whistles. Only downside is the cost. But still worth purchasing for the convenience of a remote.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unresponsive

*2022-10-21, version 1.6.1*

Unresponsive on both my iPhone 13 and my iPad. Managed to connect it to my mac once but even then it didn’t do anything and the remote app has also been crashing. There do not seem to be any settings to access, and the user Manual on the developer’s website gave little information. I am very pleased with the main Fidelia app so far but this is disappointing.

### 1/5 — Wow. Legitimately doesn't function

*2018-06-30*

The reviews said the search function was incredibly slow, but I didn't realize that meant waiting 15 minutes and still not a single song showing up. I assumed other bad reviews must have been user error. But this is literally a $10 brick of an app. It performs zero functional actions from what I can see. Downloaded an alternative. Definitely want a refund.

### 1/5 — Fidelia Remote & Hi-res Player

*2017-02-28*

Very disappointed! $40 & I can't even use it! Beware!

### 1/5 — What he said VVV

*2016-08-10, version 1.6.0*

Not getting much for a very expensive app. Would be nice at least have a shuffle option in the app. Also don't like how every time I'm scrolling through my music and pick a song it takes me to the play screen and I completely lose my place on my scroll search.

### 1/5 — Has never worked

*2016-03-24, version 1.6.0*

Purchased in Dec 2015, has not worked since then.
Contacted Audiofile support who acknowledged the issue but provide no update on when it will be resolved.
£8 and much time wasted.

### 1/5 — Definition of Amateur Hour

*2016-02-27, version 1.6.0*

Stay away from this expensive app. It's a complete pOS. Horrible UI and will not play songs in order.

Their desktop app has some glitches as well however for the most part is useable.

Keep your money. These guys are taking the mickey on this one.

### 1/5 — Doesn't Work

*2015-10-01*

This remote for Fidelia doesn't work running 10.10.5 and IOS 9.0.2. Useless, attempting to get a refund.

### 1/5 — NEEDS UPDATE!!!

*2012-11-14, version 1.1.0*

This app hasn't been updated for almost a year and a half! And for what it does is very expensive, there is no full screen iPad version and to make things even worse it doesn't works properly!. When dealing with long titles like in classical music it is almost impossible to select what you are looking for because everything is cut and shortened to fit in the screen. Once you are playing a song there is no way to go back to check the rest of the songs in the same album without starting all over again! There is no Album Art and many times the app freeze or crash. So I found myself almost 60% of the time having to change the tracks on my computer because this app is useless! What is the point of having a remote (and a very expensive one!!) if it doesn't work!

Fidelia is one of the best sounding applications that I've ever tried. Compared to other ones is very stable (except when having issues with the remote app) but this remote app for iOS devices is useless!.

### 1/5 — Not as positive as the other 2 reviews.

*2011-04-18*

I wish I could say this app was working well for me, but it isn't. It connects to my mac quickly, but:

1.) It loads up my fidelia library extremely slowly, if ever. As in, right now it's 64% done after 15 minutes. I think it's actually loaded the full library twice in maybe 40 attempts.

2.) Sometimes, the app actually manages to disconnect AND disable my wifi while trying to load the library! I have to manually go into the Settings to turn the wifi back on and try to get this app to work again.

3.) The slider doesn't really keep up with the song being played. It just kinda jumps to the general area that the song is in. It almost never shows the net track playing.

I have noted that if I don't try to load the library, it can do the basic functions correctly...but the library is something of a critical component.

So basically, it fails dramatically at doing the most important thing it's sold as being able to do. I'll try removing and reinstalling the app as a last-ditch effort...but I don't know what to say. It's baffling how bad this is compared to the excellent Fidelia music player itself. Here's hoping a future update or reinstall will fix these problems. Guess I shouldn't have jumped in without more than 2 reviews.

### 2/5 — Too much for too little.

*2015-11-19, version 1.6.0*

Overpriced for a remote that has minimal features. Doesn't work from lock screen. Basic controls. No options. No problems though.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Rarely do apps work as well as this...

*2022-02-06, version 1.6.1*

I've been using Fidelia for some years for playback into a high-end hi-if system (and other systems not so high-end). No application that I've found has such superb sound quality and huge flexibility in set up.

Using my MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro as the source machine, I had a quick Google to see whether I could control Fidelia from my iPhone. This came up immediately at the absurdly low price of £0.89!

Bought it, downloaded it, opened it. Instantaneously it found my MacBook playing. Exactly what one wants is on there and no flannel; artist name, song name, track progress slider bar, prev, next, volume, dim and mute.

Perfect!

I have a number of Macs all running Fidelia so this will be very useful.

### 5/5 — Solid, fast.

*2016-04-25, version 1.6.0*

Found my Mac which is running the Fidelia desktop app immediately, so I was up and running in a few seconds. The app itself is nice and snappy, and provides all the remote functions that I need. It's not cheap, but I'll take quality over price every time.

### 5/5 — works well for me ios9 & el capitain

*2015-11-13*

great no setting up just works

### 5/5 — Easy-peasy

*2014-03-19, version 1.5.1*

Brief instructions were very clear and the app found Fidelia quickly. Very easy to use as well. Excellent app.

### 5/5 — Where Random please make !

*2012-09-24*

!!!

### 5/5 — impressive

*2012-01-23*

While the host application still has some strange GUI quirks, the remote app is simply fabulous. Design is clear and simple, yet elegant. On a tech side, it took the app under three seconds to find a computer running Fidelia and required no configuring. The library loaded also in a matter of seconds. Getting Fidelia streaming 24bit / 192 kHz stereo via Airfoil to an AirPort Express took zero effort.

I am am not sure what is the nature of a problem described in Adrian Reynolds' review as he never specified what kind of WiFi network he is running. Most likely, library loading speed is a function of network bandwidth...

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2011-08-18*

I wish the Mac app could browse by artist and album. Was fast and functional for me. Now if they'd only publish the wire protocol, so I can make a "now playing" script for my IRC client.

### 5/5 — Big improvement

*2011-08-05, version 1.1.0*

This version is a big improvement over the first release. This is mainly because the library is downloaded to the remote pretty much instantly. Over all the remote seems to be very stable as well. It would be nice to see art work one of these days but it deserves 5 stars. Thanks guys. (and gals?)

### 5/5 — Lives up the the Price

*2011-03-27*

This is a fantastic app for those of us who DJ and sometimes get away from the computer. It's incredibly fast to connect and there is little to no lag with button presses.

### 5/5 — Great Remote for great program!

*2011-03-22*

After getting a number of different remotes and music playback programs, Fidelia is clearly the best. This remote is responsive, stylish and well designed. The other remote programs I use have occasional difficulty connecting to my MacBook Pro over my home network. The Fidelia remote connects every time. The only improvement I would want is a search function to the navigation. This is a great remote!!
