If I’m paying $9.99 a month, I should have access to ALL issues. And then there’s the elephant in the room, where are the 2025 issues? I thought the promise was fore “more printed issues”? ### 2/5 — Keeps telling me to subscribe *2023-04-30* I have a valid subscription, and the app will not recognize it. I have restored multiple times and no luck. The last edition is from 2020. Where are the new magazines? ### 1/5 — I grew up with F&S but... *2021-03-24* An update. Do not pay to subscribe. The magazine is not being published and I have not received an issue since renewing in 2020. Bonnier sold the magazine to an equity group and reputable distributors are not selling subscriptions. Apple is happy to take our money and, to sure, they have taken mine and refuse to return it. RIP to a decent magazine and writers. Times change and lack of interest in the outdoors is taking its toll. The magazine is a good read but reducing issues per year from 12 to 9 to 6 and being inconsistent on release dates sort of arouses a “what’s the point” feeling in me. I’m kind of sorry I renewed in November and I’m certainly tired of checking to see if a new issue has come out. I’ve had this experience with other magazines and it’s not a good sign. And, no, I no longer subscribe to them or even read them. I just canceled my subscription because the app will not load the newest edition. In fact, it has caused problems when trying to access the last three editions. Just keeps saying “error opening issue.” Checked my subscription, and it doesn’t end until January 2021. I’m going to miss Petzal after years of reading everything he writes, but the lousy app isn’t worth the headache. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t a paid print subscription count for on-line access? *2020-02-18, version 7.0.1* I’m a print copy subscriber, created a log in to this app using my account number as instructed. When I try to open the current on-line version of the magazine it prompts me to buy it or subscribe. I can’t find any other way to access it. Well I’m not paying for the on-line version when I already have a paid subscription to the print version. You can have this app and your on/line access! ### 1/5 — Restore iTunes Subscription *2019-03-28, version 6.1* Can’t restore subscription ### 3/5 — About time... *2018-12-13* I took almost two years but they’ve finally updated the app and fixed a well known issue with access for print subscribers not being able to view issues. I had given up hope completely and uninstalled the app about a year ago. On a whim I decided to see if the app had been updated and much to my surprise it had. The app now has a menu from which print subscribers can actually use their F&S log in to access digital issues unlike before where attempting to “log in” only prompted you to change your password. When it works the app is my preferred way of reading F&S. When it’s reading time I almost always have my iPad handy but the same cannot be said of my print copy of the magazine. Reading the magazine on the app really is a pleasure with the HD images and the ability to zoom in and out without getting pixelated. ### 1/5 — No longer worth it *2018-11-23, version 6.1* After many years I cancelled my subs with almost 3 years left because the publisher wanted me to pay for a digital subs as well! Utter nonsense to pay twice for the same content when previously it was free. Field and stream is a store that I have always gone to for all of my hunting and shooting needs. I have always loved going in and enjoyed their fair priced items. I recently went to one of their stores and I could not buy a spring for my gun bc they completely sustained from selling anything that has to do with an ar-15 including parts. I am very sad to hear this therefore I will no longer be shopping at field and stream or dicks sporting goods. I am also canceling my subscriptions to their outdoor magazine. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2018-02-14, version 5.2.15* I have read this magazine for years and love it. I recently bought a few magazines on line so I could read at work, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get back to the library once I open a magazine on my phone. What a terrible app. Please fix it so I can read the magazines I purchased. Every time I launch it , it bombs. Can’t even get to start page. I am using iOS on iPad and iPhone. Doesn’t work on any of my devices (3). I can log on using browser but not by using app. ### 1/5 — Don’t bother *2024-02-20* Really wish I would’ve read the comments before subscribing and downloading this app. Was a big fan of the print magazine years ago and thought it’d be cool to have it again. Well, as you can see going back a decade, this app doesn’t work. apparently the owners must not care because the app still doesn’t work. I’ve messaged customer service and have never gotten a reply. I had tried for over 6 months to be able to read new issues, but it would never let me, even though my subscription was active at the time. After contacting apple several times and field and stream through the email on the website, we narrowed it down to the app itself. After 6 months with no change in accessibility, I just ended up giving up and canceling, so for the first time in 20 years I have nothing to read. Whoever owns and runs this app for them is seriously lacking in maintenance. It is easy to read and navigate and the photographs look fantastic. The previous version had small type and were like PDF's of the print version -- but difficult to read on an iPad because of the small type.
