### 4/5 — Great Resource

*2016-03-02, version 2.3.3*

Great reference that facilitates aperture settings for accurate DOF range. No need for guessing or fumbling with a piece of paper. Would like to see flash contribution (ambient to flash ratio). I'll even contribute the simple formulas (Only 2 needed).

### 4/5 — Nice and clean

*2015-10-06, version 2.3.3*

I wish it also had numeric keypad entry for values and angle of view and it would be perfect!

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2013-12-09, version 2.3.3*

Simple, clean without ad application. Just what I need. Support multiple lens and cameras, easy to switch, thoughtful interface.

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2013-10-30, version 2.3.3*

Helpful to maximize depth if field!

### 4/5 — Great tool

*2013-10-02, version 2.3.3*

I use this VERY often. Although I usually know approx DOF for given set of conditions, this app makes the process precise, consistent and very useful. Comes in very handy for planned pics.

### 4/5 — Good Ap

Useful field tool.

### 5/5 — Great app

### 5/5 — Très pratique

*2012-10-23, version 2.3.3*

Vraiment une application excellente pour se familiariser avec les plans de netteté.

### 5/5 — Great!

### 5/5 — Super!!

*2012-10-19, version 2.3.3*

Macht was es soll und zwar sehr anschaulich. Voreistellungen für Kameras und Objektive möglich. Sehr coole App!!!

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2012-08-26, version 2.3.1*

Simple, usefull and easy to use.

### 4/5 — Much improved

*2012-08-13, version 2.3.1*

The old issues with precision are mostly gone and it's quite easy to use. The only big improvement I can see is the ability to group lenses by mount so when I am using one camera I don't see lenses that don't fit for it. This is probably not an issue for people who don't have so many cameras.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Inaccurate hyperfocal

*2020-11-30, version 3.1*

Hyperfocal calculation is inaccurate.

### 1/5 — Great tool but Useless unusable sliders

*2012-03-28, version 2.2*

This tool would be perfect if the distance to slider was actually accurate when used in feet & inches. It is virtually impossible to set the exact distance with the slider and therefore, for me unusable. This issue take a potential 5 star use all the time app to a 1 star wish I hadn't bothered rated app. Don't waste your time with this one unless they provide more control to allow EXACT setting of distance to slider in feet and inches. If nearly accurate is good enough for you though then go for it. Not for me thanks

### 1/5 — Aucun intérêt pas précis

*2011-01-14, version 2.1*

Ne donne pas le résultat en dessous de 10cm, aucun interet...

### 1/5 — misleading screenshots

*2009-12-14, version 0*

Terrible. The app does not even look like the screenshots shown in the app store. There is no "near+far" button, no "Lens" screen, and no "Settings" screen. The info button doesn't even respond half the time -- very frustrating. This app isn't free if you value your wasted time. Deleted.

### 1/5 — Great and free

*2009-03-02, version 0*

Nice app. Plenty of CCD, any lens. The really useful part would have been to include macrophotography. Maybee next upgrade. Anyway it is worth giving it a try.

### 1/5 — nice idea

*2009-03-01, version 0*

Nice idea, but it doesn't seem to work - the sliders rarely actually move (especially on the hyperfocal screen, the one people would likely use most often). Also, there's a screen shot on the web site that alludes that one can pick which camera is to be used - but nope, can't access it. Some form of instruction (any) might be nice as well.

### 2/5 — Good and easy app

*2020-12-04, version 3.1*

But why it is not possible to write the distance to subject on the keybord instead of using the slider to do it? The slider is really annoying.

### 2/5 — version 2.3.2 crashes

*2012-10-16, version 2.3.2*

This has been a GREAT tool for a number of years it worked great and was easy to use - until the update version 2.3.2. It crashes everytime when I try to change the camera & lens info. My itouch is on OS 4.3.5. Thanks for help in fixing the crashes.

### 2/5 — Has potential but has issues

*2012-03-04, version 2.2*

Nice app. nice clean interface, easy to use and to setup (unlike some others that are not very friendly either way), but…
1 - It does not display adequate precision - e.g. (my camera/lens) at 70m f2.8 1.4m focus distance displays the DOF as going from 1.4m to 1.4m in the app (rather than the 1.37m to 1.43m that it is - there is 6cm DOF where the app shows 0cm). I've found this on a lot of close and portrait setups, so it provides useless info.
2 - I set it up accurately for a professional Nikon Camera/lens setup, and found the info returned by the app to not agree with the DOF chart provided by Nikon, with enough of a difference as to be concerning and make me not use the app. To check I also setup a diff Nikon camera/lens, same issue, not agreeing e.g. app says 6.2m-24.7m, Nikon says 5.96m-33.24m.
3 - A number of minor bugs, and the occasional crash/shutdown.

### 2/5 — Limited use

*2009-10-17, version 0*

Good start but needs to get rid of sliders, remove limits (I want a F/L of 4.0 for example), and allow specification of coc (circumference of confusion = pixel size of imager).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2023-10-16, version 3.1.1*

Thank you. Excellent app that does what it says without all the unnecessary.

### 5/5 — Finally an app for 4x5

*2022-08-08*

There aren’t many depth of field apps for 4x5. Simple to use and easy to customise for my lens collection.

### 5/5 — Excellente application

*2020-03-08, version 3.1*

On peut mémoriser les liste de ses objectifs et de ses appareils.
Très simple, très clair: efficace !

### 5/5 — Thank you for this app

*2018-08-12, version 3.0.3*

VERY useful app and spot on. Use it very often. Very easy to use.

### 5/5 — Thank you for keeping the app updated

*2017-09-11, version 3.0.1*

I really like this app, it,s a very nice and handy tool to determine the depth of field, allowing to set your own set of cameras and lenses.

### 5/5 — Always useful, now attractive again!

*2017-09-07, version 3.0*

I've had this app since 2010, and have kept it through many generations of iPhones. Over the years the interface felt increasingly dated, but it was so useful I couldn't part with it. I fully expected it to become obsolete with iOS 11, but was surprised with an update today! What a treat to see a developer maintain their tools.

### 5/5 — Depth of field

*2016-05-04, version 2.3.3*

When I first switched to digital. All my new lenses lacked any DOF markings. A great handicap and after finding this. I can know what to preset my F stop, for a given DOF. Take the guesswork of of you DOF get this and you won't regret it!

### 5/5 — Ideal

*2016-02-24, version 2.3.3*

Great app, simple to set up and use, ideal for manual focus when out and about.

### 5/5 — Best dof calculator for iOS

*2016-01-19, version 2.3.3*

Better than any of the other dof calculators out there - simple interface, accurate calcs, and gives you everything you need.

### 5/5 — Clean and quick

*2015-11-08, version 2.3.3*

A nice clean interface that is very simple to use. Calculates on the fly, so it is very easy to change variables to experiment. I like it very much!
