## What is FieldGlass?

FieldGlass is a professional viewfinder and location-scouting tool built for film photographers and filmmakers.
Open the camera, choose a format and lens, and see the real field of view of that format right on your phone — frame precisely before you ever pick up the heavy body.

SUPPORTED FORMATS
• Large format: 4×5, 5×7, 8×10 and more
• Medium format: 645, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9 and more
• Cinema cameras: mainstream ARRI, RED and Sony bodies, plus Super 16, Super 35 and 65mm IMAX

CORE VIEWFINDING
• Live framing simulation: field of view computed precisely from film size and focal length
• Switch focal lengths instantly to compare compositions
• Widescreen ratios: 1.33:1, 1.85:1, 2.39:1 matte previews, with dual framelines for simultaneous framing
• Depth of field: aperture, focus distance and hyperfocal at a glance
• Film simulation: real-time Kodachrome, Velvia, Portra, Tri-X and more, with adjustable strength and colour isolation
• False Color exposure check: monitor-grade exposure evaluation
• Reference overlay: match a storyboard or scouting photo to reset the camera position precisely
• Photo and video: save framing references with full shooting parameters and an exposure record; the info bar includes a heading compass
• Calibration: aim at a target of known size in the live preview to measure and correct the field of view for greater accuracy

• Built-in library: digital/film cinema cameras, still cameras, cine/large-format/photographic lenses and film formats — browse by category, search and view detailed specs
• Pick a specific body and lens: choose the exact camera model and lens while framing; the frame, info bar and shot record update to match
• Spec share cards: generate a branded spec card for any gear in one tap, easy to share and collect
• Custom cameras and lenses: add your own bodies and lenses, and export/import your whole kit

SHOOTING PLANNER

• Moon data: phase, moonrise/moonset times and directions

Plan, find, and hand off
• Save places you return to, and open them again in the Sun Planner.
• Search the gallery and browse by shooting day (in the zone you shot in).
• Hand a scouted frame to GroundGlass: photo, camera, lens, place, date and movements open a pre-filled new record.
• Reference library share cards redesigned — paper white, clearer type, and an optical schematic for large-format lenses.
• More large-format cameras and lenses in the library, with coverage figures cleaned up.

No new permissions beyond an App Group shared with GroundGlass (our companion app). Everything stays on device.

Plan the light anywhere
• Pick or search any location — the Sun Planner is no longer tied to where you're standing.
• Save and share a sunrise/sunset card with a compass dial and hour-by-hour weather.
• The sun and moon arc now runs warm above the horizon and cool below it.
• Optionally burn the sun path into a saved photo.

Bring your own gear
• Add custom cinema and film cameras and lenses; export your kit to a file and import it on another device.
• Library additions, including the newly released Sony FX5 and other recent cameras.

In the viewfinder
• Export an equipment package as a PDF.
• Added and updated several film looks and tools.
• Redesigned photo caption bar with a compass, in light or dark.
• Composition guide, centre mark and horizon line are now independent; the app reopens on the format, lens and kit you left.

No new permissions — everything runs on device; weather and place names use Apple's own services.
