It let me try one activity (I tried the free paint) and then required an account to set up. I don’t need yet another account just to use an app, so will shelf this for now. But it’s an interesting concept. ### 4/5 — Could be even better *2024-04-10* I really appreciate the concept of this app. After being in a creative rut/crisis of confidence/having creative blocks for a while, this has helped to get me back into the habit of creating and boosting my confidence. Although it is partly what you make of it, and the prompts are different enough that you can approach them in a variety of ways, there are a few things that could be adjusted to make this good app into a great one. As others have said, it gets rather repetitive. As a creativity researcher myself, I know there could be a lot more different kinds of prompts provided to add some more interest and variety to ensure it doesn’t feel so stale and samey. It is also a bit glitchy…several of my creations, after saving them to the gallery, subsequently disappeared. I now screenshot things I want to keep a record of myself as I don’t trust the app will necessarily keep it. The lack of chance to interact with other users at first frustrated me, but I think given the nature of the internet and how people can be to one another, perhaps that’s for the best. I do like seeing what others have created though. But they never update it (proof being the most recent update listed as 2 years ago), so you are basically doing the same activities/pictures/music, etc., over and over again. My guess is because there’s no money involved (they don’t charge or try to sell you new crap all the time like most other apps do), they don’t put much effort into maintaining it. Would be nice if they’d put some new stuff on it. ### 4/5 — Highly recommend to creatives, but… *2023-10-30* I have been using this app for a few years as a tool to inspire creativity within myself as I write songs. For this purpose, I think it is a very helpful and enjoyable app and highly recommend it to creatives looking for inspiration or anyone looking for a fun way to express themselves creatively. There is just one thing I think would really take it over the top, which is to post one of the music creation, one of the visual creation and one of the writing creation exercises daily. I think that would be super helpful and convenient for creatives of all types as it would equal the playing field. Unlike now, when someone could come on this app looking for melodic inspiration, specifically, and come out UNinspired because there wasn’t a musical creation exercise being offered that day (and yes, this has happened to me a few times, like the other day). Other than that, I do think this app is fun, enjoyable, easy to use and great for inspiration. I love that you can look at others’ creations, save your favorites in the “My Community Inspirations” tab and I like that you can choose to post your creations to the community or privately to your own account. I also really like the diversity in the types of creative exercises the app has to offer, I just wish we experienced its diversity DAILY 😁❤️👍. ### 5/5 — Smooth, sleek & tingles my creativity *2023-10-25, version 1.8.2* Finally, an app like this! I love Lumosity and Lumosity Mind and have had an annual subscription for years and use both daily. After a long absence from Figment I wanted to try again but the app won’t let me. I get a yellow screen with a “thinking” box in the top right hand corner and it never loads-EVER! I’ve removed it, deleted app, made sure iOS is updated, cleared cashe, restarted devices, repurchased app, downloaded app again…I’ve done this on my iPhone and iPad more than a dozen times over 6 weeks to no avail. I reached out to customer support through Lumosity and have been told Figment has no issues but they’re looking into it. After 3 or 4 days I get a “rate your satisfaction” survey. I am so frustrated. No one will help me or give me an answer or even say they’re sorry this is happening! It’s obvious there’s a bug and there hasn’t been an update in 9 months. What am I supposed to do if I can’t even get customer support to acknowledge there’s a problem. I’m left disappointed and very frustrated.
