## What is FilmGrade?

FilmGrade — Shoot today, and it becomes a film

Shoot today, and it becomes a film.

Press the shutter and your photo already carries a real film look — no setup, no editing needed. Each day's frames quietly come together into a weekly Film Story, finished for you. Open ROLL to relive any week and share the frames you love. Nothing dramatic has to happen — an ordinary week, seen on film, somehow looks like something.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.15.0 — 2026-08-30

Local adjustments go further: paint exactly where you want with the new brush mask, or let the app find and mask the person in your photo. Every mask now carries tint and fade too. Perspective correction straightens converging buildings, noise reduction cleans up grainy night shots, and the film grain is finer. The editing screen is rebuilt — controls open over the photo so your image fills the screen, and every slider reads from a neutral 0 on a −100 to +100 scale.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-08-27

Deeper adjustments across the board. The new Vibrance slider lifts muted colors while leaving already-rich ones alone, and Straighten levels a tilted photo. Rotate and flip are here too — turn a mirrored selfie the right way around. The tone curve now comes in separate R, G and B channels, so you can push teal into the shadows or warm the highlights. Also fixed: masks can be dragged into place again, and the compare slider follows your finger.

### 1.13.0 — 2026-08-26

The editor now has pro tools. Draw your own tone curve (one-tap S, Punch, Matte, Fade), tap a gray in your photo to set white balance, and drag on the photo to adjust just that color. Pinch to zoom, spot clipped highlights and shadows on the histogram, and jump back to any step in the edit history. Plus a new Places category — 12 free looks, from Seoul hanok and Tokyo neon to Paris and Santorini. We also retuned similar-looking presets so every look earns its name.

### 1.12.1 — 2026-08-22

Saving photos is noticeably faster. Your work is safer too — if a gallery save fails, we keep it in ROLL and tell you why, and photo-strip shots now survive if the app closes mid-session. The interface feels more like film: a cleaner home header and category colors drawn from film tones. Screen-reader support got better as well.

### 1.12.0 — 2026-08-17

A more film-like FilmGrade. We redrew the app icon — a single film frame, now matching the app itself. ROLL became a real contact sheet: sprocket holes and frame numbers (1, 1A, 2…) on a film base, so your shots read like one roll of film. Home is calmer and clearer — today's pick takes the stage while everything else stays quiet. Type and corners refined throughout.
