What's New in Filmlog

2026.10

October 21, 2026

Ready for iPhone Duo — plus a round of improvements and fixes. NEW • Filmlog is ready for iPhone Duo. IMPROVED • Search — a film found only through its titles in other languages now says in how many languages it matched, and a title in another language shows a small tag with its language. • iPad — the poster page's actions sit on the page itself, centered next to the poster. • Apple TV — a poster you picked for a film now shows there too. FIXED • A poster you picked while adding a film only showed up everywhere after restarting the app. // Thanks Steffen • A poster picked on another device could stay blank on the film's page. • Releases sometimes showed a film's poster in another language than the rest of the app. • Someone you followed from Search only showed up in Releases after restarting the app. • A film added to the watchlist or marked as seen from its page, the Inbox included, only showed up in the list after restarting the app. • Switching to the Releases tab stalled the app for a moment. • The System appearance stayed dark instead of following your device's light or dark mode. • The search field floated far above the emoji keyboard. • On iPad, a long To Watch note pushed its last lines and the cursor under the keyboard. • Searching for people could show an error for people who exist only in the offline catalog. • Half-star ratings ignored how your language writes decimal numbers. • The screen title was unreadable on a film's age ratings and on its titles in other languages. • A crash at launch with the Saudi Arabia, Egypt or Iran region format. • On iPad in Arabic, the film poster sat under the action panel.

Recent update ruined the app

The new version of this app is so bad I’m going somewhere else. It’s complicated and un-intuitive, way harder to use for no good reason. Sad!

Response from developer

Hi Dhcieofnh89, oh, that is not good! I am not sure what caused this for you and would be very happy to hear the details about that: feedback@simonbraun.eu Best, Simon

Great except you can’t rate a movie!?!

Great for tracking movies you’ve watched. I just wish I could give ratings (1-5 stars)to what I’ve watched. Literally a deal breaker for this app. Otherwise it’s almost perfect.

Response from developer

Noted. Thank you for the feedback!

Only marginally more convenient than just googling

Doesn’t support adding or following studios, can’t easily find a director in movie search, is barely native ui look and feel, extremely thin metadata shown on movie search and view, and on top of all that claims to be worth money and randomly blocks certain actors or directors on the free version for some reason.

Developer clearly doesn’t understand that the pro tier of an app this scale should not gate core features, if you do not have enough in your pro tier to warrant an upgrade without gutting the core, then make it a paid app entirely or add more features for pro users.

Fantasic

A great idea, allowing you to track what you want to watch as well as what you have seen and when

Response from developer

Thank you for this awesome review! If you have feedback don‘t hesitate to get in touch: feedback@simonbraun.eu — Best, Simon

Prefer the older version

Older version of this app was much better and 5*. Now it’s barely a 2*.
I’d like to be able to open the app and the movies I’ve watched are right there on my screen, ready for me to add more. A simple app to log the films I have watched as the name suggests. In the past that’s how it was. The option to change something as simple as that is now behind a paywall. Greed at its finest on show right there. Very disappointed.

Response from developer

Hi Shadowxlb, I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the latest updates. I have decided to move forward and add new features to the app. I don't know how much my work and time is worth to you, but 10 years of updates is hard to find in the AppStore these days. I'm looking forward to the next ten years and hope you're on board.
