The Fin App is the newest way to provide surfboard and SUP rentals. The Fin App acts as a key to unlock paddle boards and keep track of rental duration. Paddle boards can be located on Fin trailers which are designated on the map inside of the Fin App. Once a trailer is found with available boards simply create an account and add a credit card for payment. Once your information is on file press select a trailer and click start rental. Each board is locked up with a bluetooth padlock, upon entering the start rental view the Fin App will connect you to all the padlocks. Select the boards you wish to unlock from inside the start rental screen. To end the rental return the board and lock it up and select the trailer icon that you want to end the rental on and tap End Rental. Take a picture of the lock and board and then a rental charge will be calculated on the time of the rental and will be automatically charged to the card on file. It’s very cool and very convenient. The app is a bit slow to respond, so just be patient and it will work. I’m sure it will only get better as time goes on. It’s still a very new idea, but as a concept it’s an excellent way to rent a paddle board. The location was only one block away from the bay and the board is lightweight enough for one person to carry.
