They prioritized JP version & allowed global to drown under JP! Instead of releasing the same u it’s, global would either be skipped or get nerfed versions on many occasions! JP would get tons of free currency more than Global! At times we had no new content while our counterpart got everything! JP version still running while global ends on October 30th 2024! Why not try again & this time put in capable developers who do not treat one better than the other. Game on global was mismanaged & destroyed. This game is popular, just that people got fed up with Scumi a name given to gumi from many of the players. Don’t end the game! Merge it will JP for all those who spent money & time! Back then finding friends was easy but after starting in 2023 it’s been next to impossible to find recent players with space for new friends. Tldr: love it but friend cap is frustrating Will give 5stars when recent players are shown and have space for friends. ### 4/5 — What happened to Brave Frontier tho? *2024-01-11* This looks exactly like my old favorite game called Brave Frontier that was deleted ### 4/5 — Fantastic Free Game *2023-01-26, version 7.9.0* This game is every bit as good as the Super Nintendo version I had as a kid, but instead of paying $50 for it, it’s completely free. Sure, you can spend money for the possibility of top tier characters, but there are still plenty of free chances to progress without spending cash. I easily completed the first two seasons without spending a dime, and I have some pretty cool characters. The storyline is very involved and many “trash” characters actually pop up in the cutscenes, making them far more valuable. There’s a decent array of weapons, armor, and spells, and you can craft some of each- but why bother? You find freebies along the way. I’ve also never had this game crash. I love this game and I can’t wait for the next chapter! Edit: Several years later… Season 3 was beyond terrible. Just a complete mess. Season 4 is great and has a decent cast of characters, but the game is now so bloated that it is impossible to maintain on a simple iPhone. Constant updates are needed. Also, many tasks now involve the same fight over and over again, just with varying intensity. Several key process have been changed as well, such as upgrading characters, isolating older players. I will likely uninstall after this season wraps up. ### 3/5 — What did you do to the UI *2022-09-22* ThebUI looked great in the last patch but in this update it looks so much cheaper and less appealing. READ FIRST!! *2022-08-26, version 7.4.5* So I have had this game ever since it came out(6-7 years) playing pretty religiously, and loved every minute of it. A definente 5 star game at the time. The thing that has recently killed every bit of love for this game is that within this last year or so they had added a “LIMITED BINDING ATTEMPTS” feature to Facebook, Email or your Apple account. that didn’t seem too harmless right?…so just as long as you keep the game downloaded, and keep playing every day like I was right?..WRONG!! Within this year 2022 between January and almost September my FFBE account was “unbinded” from Facebook repeatedly and now those “LIMITED BINDING ATTEMPTS” have been used and my account gone just like that.. I love everything Final Fantasy, this game was a beautiful collaboration of all things Final Fantasy with its own storyline as well. But I think they are just losing the momentum that they had, and due to that loss they are making people or OG’s like myself restart from the beginning to make money in the end. It’s fun and addicting but it’s rare to get the characters I want and I have to spend money to get more lapis(I have not spent money yet). My dad introduced me to this game a few years ago but I never got into it. So I started playing it a week ago. My dad has been playing since it first came out but quit 2 years ago. He quit because they kept coming out with revamped characters, he was max lvl and had all the good characters, and he maxed out everything, plus all the people he followed quit. It’s sad to see the FFBE community slowly dwindle down to a hollow shell. So ffbe makers if you read this can you pls make characters more rollable and can you make it overall more enjoyable for the old players who played the game and quit a long time ago. Thanks for this fun game and have a nice day ### 3/5 — Don’t Expect Help from Customer Service *2021-12-25, version 6.6.1* Make sure you save/write down your Player ID or Inquiry ID. I’ve played this game since 2018 and spent a lot of money on my account. I took some time away from Electronics and just deleted everything. Now that I came back, I realized that my account was linked to the FB I don’t have anymore. Under their “Help Tab” they say they can find it using several ways. Since I didn’t have my player ID I gave them as much of the information as I could. I even gave them transaction dates with amount and Order ID, which is something they literally ask for under the “help” section. Yeah…forget it…once you start talking to someone EVERYTHING on that tab gets thrown out and the only thing that matters to them is the player ID or Inquiry ID. You can have EVERYTHING they ask for but your Player ID and even give them specific transactions that you’d think would be linked to and identify the profile, but nope! They don’t care about all that, it gets ignored and ends up being about player ID. What’s the point of giving requirements if they don’t matter anyway? Maybe change the response to the “help” tab section for account recovery into “you want to come back? Well if you don’t have your player ID or Inquiry ID, we can’t help you”. There is literally no point in putting your “requirements” for the retrieval if you don’t care about actually using it. ### 4/5 — Great game ! But needs some changes *2021-05-25* I love this game and my account has been around for years, this game is a great title to the franchise. Great story and detail and the characters fit so well. My problem is the summon system, I understand loot draws are the main attractions when it comes to revenue and we all have bills to pay. But the sheer number of units in this game is enormous and awakening for the 5 star plus units isn’t easy sometimes if you don’t have the best “luck” when it comes to those draws. Additionally for some 5 star units, they have the ability to move to NV status and if you don’t have enough in game currency to help you get what you need to power out your units you rely on the summoning to get you there. The drop rates are not that bad , but the pool of units in which is comes from. TMR’s obtained by the trust value being maxed out are valuable even if they come from a lower level unit, but the odds of being to get the units you need are slim sometimes. I just think a change in the summon system to help you obtain the units you need would be a big helper/ getting duplicates of other level units. Other than that the rest of it is perfect. ### 3/5 — Grind lingers long after the fun goes. *2021-04-05* Don’t be fooled by the beautiful graphics and the breadth of things to do: this is a shameless pay-to-win gatcha game that desperately wants your money. There is a lot of enjoyment to be had out of beating end-game content with free units, and there is an amazing community to help with the harder bosses and quests, but the grind is relentless. If you enjoy collecting FF characters and the stories behind them; this game is for you. Otherwise I can guarantee from years of personal experience the grind will become a daily chore long after you realise it’s not fun anymore. The game has also become more unstable as they have added more content. ### 3/5 — Hear me out *2021-01-21, version 5.2.6* Been playing this game since the release of it I remember the grind and the heart strings this game pulled when I first played and watching the growth of lasswell and rain up until they became Kong’s has been one of the greatest adventures I’ve been on with a game and all in all it’s an amazing game I the story is amazing the development in characters and all it’s just outstandingly done now my only grip is the way the game devs have taken I remember when step up summons were actually genuinely step summons instead of starting from high and staying there it gets difficult to farm lapis unless there’s a constant event to give it or unless of course you buy it and even still the chances of getting better units compared to what they were have been died down entirely i won’t say it’s pay to play but it does feel like that’s the way this game is going and it’s not a good road from what it was I’m sad to see it as is maybe relook at things and go back to how they were make it the way that we as the players can feel the power spikes or if we use our lapis it be meaningful and all ### 3/5 — Was a nice little nostalgia trip *2020-10-05, version 5.1.0* I dunno about this season this I’ve enjoyed playing sense the global launch but this season...I’m not sure where they’re going. Season 3 story is a low point to me the supporting characters are far more interesting then Fina it’s like the writers dumped every trope into her. Uncertainty✔️ Friendship is Magic✔️ Whiny✔️ Damsel in Distress✔️ Power Outage✔️ Which all these wouldn’t be bad but they addressed this in season 1 &2 and just takes away from Fina as a character. Then there’s the Neo Visions you gotta have both of a character’s trust and super trust rewards to awaken then they allow you to pull a Neo Vision that doesn’t have trust master unlocked which breaks the conditions to get a Neo vision and not to mention you gotta pour 5 star units into the Neo Vision unit which have a low pull rate but I have had pretty good luck getting 5 stars but relying solely RNG to max out NV Unit is just stupid. Last thing is Dark Visions which is just roided out damage sponge espers with ridiculous stats that are meant to drain in unprepared players of your stocked piled lapis which takes away from any real effort, you can just stack your party with DPS and throw them at the boss until you run out of lapis. I really liked this game when it first came out the sprites reminded me of Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger but I’m not sure where they’re really going this season. Hope they figure it out. ### 4/5 — Great but an Installation Nightmare *2020-09-01, version 5.0.0* I played this game actively, obsessively from November 2016 until earlier this year in 2020. This game was a serious part of my life and for a long time I felt it deserved 5 stars. But the game becomes incredibly stale for gamers, every additional level. Also it becomes way overly complicated. But most importantly, my biggest dealbreaker is how often they’d update the game and I was forced to reinstall 2gigs of game many many many many times. The thing is that you MUST have the game open and watch a loading bar for 10-15 minutes. It breaks up your day, and i have gone multiple days not installing it because I’m just too tired or too busy to sit through a loading screen. The game simply got too big and it is a chore to maintain. There are SO many things in the game to try to check in on every day. At some point it feels like work. And the reinstallations were my dealbreaker. I actually reached a breaking point from it. It really helped me curb the addiction so ironically I think the game’s awful loading times helped free me from this obsession. That’s how bad it gets. And I just have zero interest in reinstalling. Thank you for the hundreds and hundreds of hours I got to waste away with small pleasures. RIPU (rest in peace uninstalled). ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Rates Poor and Sometimes Not as Advertised *2024-07-11* Update July 2024–Don’t download or play this game. Shameful and embarrassing is how I would describe its current state. Next to no content and the teeny bit of content requires each shiny new unit anyways to really compete and have fun. 8th anniversary was a disgrace with delayed “rewards” and the worst “rewards” in the 8 years. Brutal… below comments still apply. Bugs that favour players fixed within hours.. bugs that don’t, good luck. Gumi seems to have trouble with basic QA and their latest update is no exception. They prioritize new features designed to get players to spend more money and ignore long standing bugs. Don’t worry though, they’ll toss the game into emergency maintenance to iron out issues that benefit the players. This week’s news and update also says that some limited time units are not included in the Hyoh step up banner summoning pool but they are breaking the terms of the Apple Store gacha rates publishing. Even if you’re “lucky” you will still end up short, simply due to the fact that there is more to gather/enhance than you are realistically able to do- - - hence being invited to spend money to finish these “progressions”. This is what you call “predatory” and it is particularly bad on this title. Opera Omnia Dissidia is doing just FINE without having to resort to these same shenanigans, there’s no excuse. ### 1/5 — Great game but ads are a mess *2022-10-26, version 7.6.0* I love playing this game, but whatever ad method Gumi or its partner is using makes performing some functions the most annoying structure on the planet. Watching the occasional ad on the wheel or for energy is fine, because I chose to. But those ads have /no way/ to close them. There’s no X, and I’ve let them sit for hours. You sit through a 1-2 minute video, then it loads a splash screen. But instead an X, you get >>, which forcibly loads the App Store and in one case tries to download the app for you. Then when you close /that/ you can finally close the ad (provided it doesn’t load /another/ video or animation), then it finally provides an X. Knock that junk off. I don’t even mind the video, but this forced App Store nonsense is trash. Just give us an X, we already sat through the ad. And don’t buy ‘featured units’. It’s $12-$24 for a 1% chance to get the unit they’re featuring. Just play the game and collect tickets, and try to get them with a higher drop chance with the free lapis you get. Even whales should beware this one. ### 1/5 — Completely overwhelming and under challenging *2021-11-08, version 6.5.1* Ive wasted about 3 hours on this game. Hopefully this review heps you avoid that. The overwhelming: The main splash page has about 40 things to click on. Each of those brings you to a new page with about 20-40 more things to click on, with those bringing you to more pages of things to click on, etc. Half of these things are attempts to get you to pay money for something. Seriously...try to hide your greed a little bit. The tutorial teaches you what about 5 of these things do. Other than that, you just have to click on things and try to figure out what all is going on in this game. Good luck. Reading through all of this will take you days. The under challenging: The battles you can do in the first 3 hours offer 0 challenge whatsoever. They give you overpowered characters to start with, and even if they didn’t, they give you a spot to summon a companion, which can be a maxed out character that can do millions of damage to every enemy, every turn (they only have about 100 health each). I even tried summoning the weakest companions i could and there was still no challenge to win the battles. Im guessing later in the game there will will be some sort of challenging enemies, but after 3 hours of no challenge im not willing to seek that out. Basically the game offers no challenge and has menus that are filled with ridiculous amounts of crap, mostly which is just trying for a cash grab. Avoid this game like the plague. ### 1/5 — If I could give less than 1 star I would *2020-07-13* Game is designed to make money and take advantage of gambling mechanics. It’s horribly managed, the devs are actually the worst I’ve ever seen and they honestly insult the player base with the garbage they deliver. The saddest part? Instead they’ve taken famous nostalgic characters that we all love and butchered them with this horribly designed game and have thus tainted the legacy of Final Fantasy. ### 1/5 — Cannot Download *2020-05-24* i tried for around two hours to get the app to download content. it seemed to work fine at first, but stopped at 99% with only 100mb left to download. i've played this app in the past and i've never had that problem. after about 15-20 minutes waiting on 99% it'll come up with a message saying i have connection issues, and i've checked my wifi and router. everything is working fine and i can open and play much bigger files (such as high graphic mmo's) on the wifi with no issues. i uninstalled and reinstalled the app completely multiple times, tried to download the last 100mb on data instead of wifi, and checked all phone settings related to the game. the issue is with the game download. would be happy to give a higher score once the download issue is fixed. ### 1/5 — Crash trash by Enix? *2020-04-19* OK I would like to say that constant crash, constant download to abuse user data usage is a joke, enix did great for pc games but utterly fail in apps. I think I managed to play the game for about 30 seconds before all the downloads made me delete the app. I’m not even joking! Think the app was open for 30 mins I played for 30 seconds the rest was download after download and I have 1gb internet,(not that that matters in my phone I know) just an idea that my net is not garbage. It helped me alot with my depression. It also has such a great storyline. People complain for not getting what they want in a gatcha system. But this was the best gatcha game in my opinion as all the allies that you get were meaningful. The events were even getting better and so too was the system. The fact that no one is playing this and that its closing shows how much of a hidden gem this game really was. People don't like working hard. And thats why… i guess this game lost to the majority. Please it’s bugging me a lot lol. ### 5/5 — Great game *2023-03-23* I’ve played FFBE since launch way back in 2016, and it continues to be so much more than I thought a mobile gacha game could be. For people who like team building and taking on challenging bosses with a main story and plenty of Final Fantasy nostalgia baked in, this game is for you. They’ve done such a good job with character creation and development that some of the original characters can stand with the all time greats from the main series. And the story can be windy at times, but continues to hold your interest like a good fantasy novel. It’s really remarkable and fascinating how the game has evolved over the years, and somehow both the JP and Global dev teams continue to find new ways to keep the game interesting and fresh, with new mechanics opening up different strategies as the meta changes and evolves over time. Endless content for new players with all levels of difficulty so you can grow with your knowledge and skill and eventually catch up to the meta, and new end game challenges for veteran players to keep them engaged. Basically you can get enjoyment out of this game no matter how casual or serious of a player you are. ### 5/5 — PLEASE LET US INFUSE UNITS WITH 100% TRUST WITH OTHER UNITS THAT ALSO HAVE 100% TRUST *2021-08-22* So recently, I got the yeti of narhse umaro and I got two of them, one being maxed out with the exception of not having super trust leveled and another one that is brand new with only 100% trust. They are whining *2021-02-19* I’m F2P and the best units in the game are the NV (neo vision) units. A lot of the 5 stars have been updated and are able to awaken to NV. I have 26 NV units and 57, 5* base, never paid a dime. Lots of opportunity to earn in game currency from events and by simply playing the story and completing quests. These bad reviews are people whining. Just wait for a banner of the unit you want, the drop rates are higher, use the free in game currency you’ve earned and summon. Also, all the 3* and 4* units you get arent rubbish. Combine them together to get the trust master weapons, armour and abilities and then equip them on your good units. Also, actually read your inbox and see the upcoming events and cool side stories they are constantly releasing. This game is awesome. As some people might think when they play this game for the first week or so, it does sometimes seem like the game is a pay to play, but I find this not at all true. Obviously it may seem a bit slow when you first start playing, but a lot of games are like this. But when a special event takes place or a collaboration event happens they do make sure that all units/characters have higher drop rates... although it may seem like you never get the unit you spend your precious lapis on, therefore making it seem like a pay to play type game, it is up to RNG for you to get units. With this all said if you are an impatient person, this game is probably not for you. It takes time to understand strategy and to create a perfect team for yourself. One thing I wish this game did not have is the 1 and 2 star units. To me personally they do not serve any purpose other than filling up your unit inventory. If it has to download everytime I will remove the app I’m not happy ### 5/5 — Long time FF fan some issues *2020-04-16, version 4.1.5* The game is absolutely consuming, by far leveling up a 7 star team is the most strenuous part but once you do your power level explodes one character 7 stared character allows a player to go from noice to expert level bosses. Game is jam backed full of content with many quest, summons and “vortex” missions. The game is great my biggest gripe is the summon banners. Makes it very hard to summon characters you need/want and after a certain point summoning the same character multiple times becomes somewhat useless. But saving grace select summon tickets allowing you to pull a single character at the cost of 10 tickets and the new super trust moogle tickets allowing you to get the super trust master(STMR) for a character. Again great game just wish banners of old characters or banners of specific games would be promoted so there’s a greater chance of you locking down a 7 star team. ### 5/5 — fantastic final fantasy *2019-12-19, version 3.8.9* My first FF was 4 (what we called 2 here in US) when i was a child, i've been a life long fan since. but i haven't really liked any of the games past X and X2. this game finally gave me the old school traditional FF play that i remember from the old games. i truly think Brave Exvius is one i the best final fantasy games ever made, and by far the best in over 15 years. i have beloved characters from final fantasy 4, 6(my fav), 7, tactics, 9, and even X. it's like a dream team, and they keep making even more awesome characters. yes it can be very difficult at times to get characters you want, but there is plenty to keep you entertained day to day and before you know it you'll have some of your favs. plus you get to bring along a friend and they often have cool characters for you to use. because that's what the FF series has always been about, cool heroic characters. i've been playing for over two years now and i probably will for years to come. --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
