The downside is every chapter is largely identical in design and only the monsters really vary, and not by much. I like FF titles but I got bored and just stopped playing this one. Graphics are true to the originals, gameplay made a smooth transition to mobile and the music is renewed but reminiscent of the classics. Best of all you can try it for free in the prologue and grind away! However, this game is remarkably short and easy in comparison to other Final Fantasy titles. It reprocesses plot material from Final Fantasy 3 and 5, so if you’ve played those, you’ll figure out the plot of this game before you’re halfway through. It also incorporates the “job” feature from Final Fantasy 3, 5, and Tactics, putting it in my least favorite strain of Final Fantasy. I suspect this game was just an experiment for Square Enix to try out a new business model. ### 2/5 — Cloud Save Error *2024-06-02, version 1.1.5* The iPad app does not allow me to recover cloud save files my iPhone. Otherwise the gameplay is decent and captures the feeling of the older FF titles before FF7. ### 2/5 — Saved games *2024-04-10, version 1.1.5* When I close the game it does not seem to even save my games. I save often to save my progress but the opening screen of the game does not have saved game or load save game options. Like how could it not have controller support. ### 1/5 — Bad Design *2025-11-22, version 1.1.5* The game is designed badly from the story to the pricing of the game. It is predatory pricing. A lot of SquareEnix games have fixed upfront cost pricing, which is transparent. But this game charges per chapter and was probably intentionally designed that way to trick some people. Sad to see so many people who are so used to the current trend of predatory pricing, loot boxes, etc.. from AAA game studios that they actually defend this kind of pricing structure. ### 1/5 — A Less Good Copy of Zelda *2024-12-25, version 1.1.5* 10 min playing... I think ff6 was better. Looks pretty much like Zelda: A Link to the Past, but that game was way better. This has been one of the best games put out recently. I’m so sick of pay to play scam games. At least you can play the first chapter for free to see if you like it. This is one of my favorites with good replay value. I’d rather pay one price for a good game, with a good story, and great gameplay. I wish we had more like this. I hear final fantasy dimension 2 isnt as good. But I highly recommend this game. It plays like a successor to Final Fantasy 5, with its excellently crafted job system and two separate parties to add even more depth to character builds. The best part about this game is that it's the last thing somebody pictures when they think "mobile RPG", this is a title that just as easily could have been released on the GBA or SNES instead of cell phones, with none of the micro-transactions or years of grinding that have come to infest the genre. Some strongpoints that are consistent through the game is team switching. I love the job exclusives and the switching between chapters. Ya, about job classes… they’re the best part of the game. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. For not being a mainline, it’s consistent, and could definitely come across as one.
