If you want to operate within the top 25% of players you will be needing to spend £100 per week on packs. If you want to compete with the top 10% then I would suggest you would be spending £300 per week. You can try and play for free, but your fun will end very quickly. If you do have this money to spend, then crack on. It is a good game with a fabulous community of players to help. The customer support is mainly automated, so don’t expect any real helpful feedback. The worrying development I speak of is regarding the sale of the most recent packs. You select the pack to buy, buy it, and then discover that items are missing. This is clearly fraudulent, and purely done to encourage you to buy further packs. When complaints are logged, you are faced with automatic responses that offer no helpful feedback. It’s a real shame as I’ve had a lot of fun playing this game. ### 2/5 — Love and hate this game *2021-01-05, version 6.1.6.199* I have been playing since the top level citadel was 20. I really enjoy the basics of the game, building my army’s and empire and meeting new players from all over the world. That being said the game has become so complicated with the boosts being in the trillions and so many heroes. The new releases weekly are too much to keep up with. I have thousands of dollars into my account and have to spend $400 a week (at least) if I wanted to be and stay on top. Your purchases from last week are now useless and you will burn if you don’t spend that kind of money to stay strong! Some aspects of the game are import and totally get left behind. For example the ability to save an astral in your march preset...I don’t have it and can never get it now. I have emailed the developers and they just blow me off with scripted messages back. Many people do not have the steal enemy expansions option and have no way to get it anymore. I still play and spend because I feel it is important to stay strong and help keep my guild strong. I don’t want to let my guild down. I enjoy the people I play with and friends I have made over the years. I have spent too much money to let my account get left behind..... ### 3/5 — Review *2020-12-26* In order to keep up with everything you need to buy packs all the time, which are ridiculously overpriced. Otherwise your having to catch up which will take forever and even then you can’t catch up 100% as you can’t get the necessary items without buying. If your in a good guild, that’s what keeps you playing without breaking the bank account. Good guild members is what makes you stick around, not the game itself. ### 1/5 — What a waste!! *2020-08-19* This is actually a fun game to play and quite addictive however, and it’s a big ‘however’ The game as others state, is over priced, glitchy and the customer support is so bad, that so many people have just given up and quit because of it. At the end of the day, this game is just a money spinner for epic action and mz. They don’t fix issues, and their customer service seems like an automated system which is set to frustrate and confuse mode. The rate at which you need to purchase expensive packs to remain competitive would send a lot of people bankrupt. So a word of advice, avoid this game! ### 1/5 — WASTE OF TIME & MONEY! *2020-05-03* The game starts out fun, you might even be lulled into a false idea that you can play this game for free. Please be warned that you categorically can NOT maintain your empire on a level playing field with others unless you chuck 100s even 1000s into the game. Packs start our reasonably priced & you may be tempted to part with 4.99.. but you will soon find yourself with packs priced at £99 a pop! If you do try and free play then be prepared to invest up to 12 hours of your day every day and still not manage to hit tier without a pack purchase. Events are now based on spending money to get the best results.. and when events are here the prizes are barely worth a moment of your time let alone hours! Then you have their customer service.. which is by far the most appalling you may ever encounter. Generic canned responses that don’t answer your query, a real lack of will to help you, a different agent for each reply with no real logic in response or an actual resolution. You feel a piece of your soul die with every email response you get from them. The only 1 positive in this game is your guild mates. Although I am significantly poorer, If it wasn’t for them I’d have quit a long time ago!! ### 2/5 — Great game/Worthless customer service *2020-02-15, version 5.0.12.179* I’ve been playing this game for a couple of years. As someone who spends almost no money on games like this I expect to grow very slowly. However, because of the support of the people in my guild, I’ve done ok. A few weeks ago we went through a realm merge and the idiot developers put about 5 realms together but didn’t expand the realm to fit so things are very crowded and the monsters became unkillable. They made the game impossible for the smaller players. Now my guild has decided to move to another realm, one that our guild can continue to grow in. Unfortunately, many don’t have the type of teleport they need to move. They are not being offered in packs for purchase. When we contact customer service about this, they give responses like “to many people transferring realms will throw off the balance of the game”. To late, they already did that. Other responses include, just keep watching the packs for sale, there will be one eventually. This game can be a lot of fun and I’ve met some really great people. That being said, it’s not a free to play as it is advertised. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR YOU TO START PLAYING THIS GAME NOW. ### 2/5 — Fraudulent Advertising and Horrible Support *2020-01-01, version 5.0.12.179* I have played this game for over 6 months. The positive, I have met some great people and it occupied my time. The negative, there are so many... their sales practices are completely misleading. They purposely leave off disclaimers and misidentify what you will or will not receive. Contacting support is completely useless. They have a policy of no refunds even when they are entirely in the wrong. Also apple does nothing about it either despite the numerous complaints. If you go down the path of playing this game never buy more than a $5 pack. You will never be the top player but you can socialize with others. The reviews about BOGO offers and the get one having half the items is completely accurate. Also the canned email replies with useless support is accurate. In the realm I play, they have progressed it so fast that we have hardly any players left and you can’t even win a fight or defend anymore unless you have spent thousands of dollars buy every single pack multiple times. The game is super glitchy and the programming is always broken in some way or another. Also as an added bonus you have to deal with perverts. Do yourselves a favor and find another game! ### 1/5 — Read this before playing this game *2019-12-13, version 5.0.12.179* Do not try to play it. This game causes stress, depression and anxiety .This is a game for millionaires. A game without rules or limits. Only people who can pay a lot of money can reach high levels and without limits they can destroy your Empire. The game reaches a level that if you don't have money you can't advance. When you think you can play, you will never be able to play against the most powerful players (people who pay packages of 100 dollars). 100 dollar packages have resources and advantages for your empire but you need to buy more than 10 packages to defend yourself from other players. It would be more than 1,000 dollars. There are no limits of attacks on your empire. Higher levels will destroy your Empire until you lose everything. It is a game where the highest levels use rude words against people by E-mail and chat rooms. The game has no complaint options. The game is a single server for all countries. While you sleep your Empire will be destroyed by other players. It’s a real time game There are no protection options when you are inactive. It is an addicted game that leads you to spend a lot of money and lose it too. I hope it helps. Play games that only your skills, strategies, knowledge are your goals, not money can show that you can do something. Not the money. ### 3/5 — Biggest wallet wins *2019-11-29, version 5.0.12.179* 5 star for game design, event ideas, 1 star for performance issues consistently and no control of bullies inside realms! I have to say as a minor spender of games this is one that requires tons of money to stay on top, even as a free to play game it is fun to do events and attack realm bosses but as far as any war aspects the ones who spends the most money will be on top and this game has soo many bullies in it too! There are of course soo many very nice and friendly people as well which is mostly the reason I’ve stayed with ffxv 15 but there is such a divide with the free to play players VS the big spenders, if your not spending $200 USD per week then you will have to stay in protective bubbles 24/7You also must have a minimum of iPhone 7 or androids equivalent for this game to even work now! I’ve been playing on an iPhone 6 for a couple years and it has steadily gotten worse by being glitchy and crashing 50 times per hour now to the point I can’t even get the game loaded up anymore at all! As many gripes I have with the game I do love to play it and conversations with friends are always sincere, I really wish it would work on my phone again!😩😭 I cant afford to upgrade to a better device for a few more months and by the time I do I fear I will have lost interest and friends I had built up for 2 years! ### 1/5 — Terrible excuse for a “game” *2019-11-25, version 4.5.18.170* It could be really great. It COULD be really fun. Instead, you get “support” that just doesn’t care about anything wrong with the game or the fact that it’s really nothing more than a great breeding ground for online bullying, which they don’t do anything about. It started out with at least the ability to use some strategy to be able to push forward then the developers decided to see how badly they could screw it up. Now it has become nothing more than a spending money contest. The funny thing is that those who spend ridiculous amounts of money can’t even hurt each other so all they do is make sure that smaller players who don’t blow hundreds of dollars a week on a game can’t even play or enjoy the game. It’s seriously a joke, and not even a funny one at that. I have had to watch hundreds of good people quit playing a game they used to enjoy because it’s no longer a game. There is no strategy that can help you, other than spending hundreds of dollars a week. It’s really sad and pathetic that these developers think they’re doing a good job, and even more sad that iTunes even allows a “game” like this to stay in the app store. Save yourself a lot of wasted time and headache and find a different game to play. One that is actually a game and not just a scam to Line MZ’s pockets. I would have given negative stars if the rating system allowed me. ### 1/5 — Game crashes wont load *2019-11-12* I will be rating this game 1 star from now on a game that I love to play but no longer can due to never loading I will refuse to buy any more packs and will ask for all players to stop buying packs due to not being able to play and the game developers to never fix it or care for those who only have a iPhone to play on as I’m sure this game does not care 1 bit about loyal players who been playing for yrs and yet no matter how many times you complain about a issue it never gets resolved at all ### 1/5 — Worst customer support ever *2019-11-11, version 4.5.18.170* Don’t bother writing tickets.. No one in their customer support actually bothers to read them. You will get a generic response typically to an unrelated issue . You will go back and forth at least a dozen times, wasting hours of your time and energy for the first 6 responses to be generic nonsense.. the next 2 responses will be repeats of one of the 6, none of which solves the issue and at this point no one had even bothered to address the correct issue.. you are now 8 emails in and if you are lucky, they have given you some useless token of the appreciation.. typically some tiny amount of Noctis medals.. but your Noctis is over 200 and they give you like 50 of the the ones you use when you are less than level 100. But they don’t care, that would actually have required them to make an effort to look at your account.. look into the issue.. no one ever does.. it’s a money pit where every support rep must be trained to ignore the first 5 responses because it happens every time.. Flint, Charlie, Regina , ivy, Susie, Leroy, aurrez.. just a few of the names you will see over and over who never read your ticket .. just blow you off and ignore system issues, broken events , game glitches, etc ### 1/5 — Price gouging, as well as, bait and switch tactics *2019-10-17, version 4.5.18.170* I initially enjoyed this game quite a bit. Unfortunately, the devs are more concerned about making money than they are about their players. To progress in the game you have to by packs. There is no way around it. If that’s not bad enough as soon as you buy a pack the prices immediately go up every time. This results in you paying $100 for a pack that someone else gets for $5. The exact same pack. Then you have to read what is offered on the pack closely. Many times you aren’t getting what you expected. ‘Lifetime’ boosts are only good for a limited time. Also, I bought a pack that specifically stated that it would give me an ‘additional’ 50% off of research and building costs. I never got the additional 50% off building costs and the research reduction lasted 7 days and stopped. This was a ‘lifetime’ booster. When I contacted customer service they tell me that there packs never stack even though it listed it as an additional reduction in costs. Several emails later they still refuse to fix the problem and refuse to answer why it worked temporarily if stacks don’t happen. Again, they are only interested in making as much money as possible. Steer clear of this game. ### 1/5 — Game for deep pockets *2019-10-10* I’ve been playing this game for a number of years, as well as some players and to be honest the main reason we are still playing it’s because of the friendship bonds we’ve developed with on another. Saying that most players honest hope that game will revert to its old ways where players that work hard to develop can earn their way without spending a lot of Money however that is not the case. Like many reviews spending £100 per pack is not ideal and the sad part the customer service isn’t the best when you log your issue with the customer support team or try to avoid helping you etc etc... it’s a very well known fact with all players that the support team aren’t helpful and “apparently they don’t have a complaint department” strange right ? Yep everyone thinks so. Regardless there are players with very deep pockets and this does tilt the game stats and therefore more and more items are ONLY obtained by buying them. I really enjoyed playing this game because the rules were balanced between players and it made it very interesting to develop strategies however that is now lost, your best bet is to buy a protection bubble whereas in the past if you had a very strong defence then it would have taken a lot of effort to actually capture your hero and vice versa. I hope the developers have a serious rethink about the future of the game .. it’s a wonderful game if you have the money to spend weekly !!! ### 1/5 — Great game but not worth the time if you play for fun *2019-09-20, version 4.5.18.170* This game is very fun and interesting to play, but it seems like only the players that are able to spend $200-$300 per month are able to level up. You should not spend any money at all when you’re playing this game, because as soon as you buy any kind of material slowly clear up, another player that has spent more money than you will steal them all. If there were two sets of worlds, one for people who pay to play and another for people who are just playing for fun, it might be more fair. I played for three months and spent weeks saving up materials to build. Everything gets wiped out overnight as soon as you hit a level 20. Luckily I’ve only spent $4.99. I would play this game if it didn’t cost so much, but I am only playing for fun so it really isn’t worth it to do this. Another part that would make this game more fun to play or at least allow lower level people to grow, is prevents people from high levels from attacking people who are a fraction of their level. Level fives can be attacked by people that are level 60. It seems very difficult to level up, because people then playing longer than you take all of your materials. Also within a matter of minutes, the same player can hit you 10 to 20 times. There should be a limit that the same player can only hit you maybe three times in a 24 hour period. Otherwise you take a break for 10 minutes, and the same player has hit you 20 times. ### 1/5 — Lies, deceit and just not worth it! *2019-09-16, version 4.5.18.170* I have been playing for 7 months now and at first it was great. Now, it seems the devs have abandoned our realm and server. In 7 months we have lost more than 1/2 the players we started with because of how the pay to play set up is. If you spend more, you excel far faster than those that don’t spend. Those big spenders what to put their purchase to use which makes all the smaller, non-spenders a target so any growth from that non or smaller spender is gone. It really is discouraging. It’s a war game but the playing field is completely uneven. To top it all off though, the devs are blatantly lying to us. They say we will win prizes if we meet a goal then they don’t give us said prizes and lie about not meeting said goal. Currently, I am fighting with them over not being able to use an item out of one of my purchases, being told the feature is not released to my realm yet which is an absolute lie since i have purchased it and use it on my other pack, in the same realm. I have created a fraud ticket with them to the Apple store. The whole game is a scam! They trick you into buying things and blatantly lie to you about anything they don’t want to deal with. There are several other games out there more worthy of time and money. ### 1/5 — Slaughter fest *2019-08-25* Don’t think for one minute you have any chance to progress in this “game”. You will make just enough progression to get you hooked (and you will be hooked) then BLAM you will be attacked and attacked and attacked and robbed of billions of resources you need to grow by all the megalomaniac rich folk who pay to win. Add to this the developers change the rules so what you’ve built and bought is utterly useless and you have to do it all again, ignore any complaints or copy and paste a reply most of which is lazy rhetorical nonsense and addresses nothing of your complaint. Yes you will find a guild that is lovely supportive and helpful and this keeps you playing but then BLAM devs spring a surprise kill event at 3am and its all gone when you wake up. You have no defence as their is zero strategy and it’s all about the size of your wallet feeding a greedy developer and not the size of your army. The sooner this game dies a natural death the better. ### 1/5 — No idea what’s going on, but it’s definitely downhill *2019-07-26, version 4.3.13.159* Let me start by saying I used to love this app. I’ve met some great people and had some fun times. However this app has spiraled out of control and the app developers don’t care. MZ has moved on to its latest and greatest money making opportunity leaving what was once a great game in the crapper. In the older realms they’ve released the “dark world”. Which basically reset the entire game, flushing everyone’s hard earned and paid for progress down the toilet. When asked why, we received a generic response stating “IDK...because we can.” Newer realms are stuck in a constant loop of outdated unusable blogs and content meant for older realms. I play in Turbulent Battleground...and we’ve submitted several tickets and requests to the developers only to receive automated responses and fluff about broken WiFi and server connections. Light bulb MZ, everyone in the realm doesn’t have weak WiFi. Fix our realm!! Realm mergers, non caring responses to real issues and stagnant game play has taken it out of me. MZ should be sued for exploiting thousands of people and caring only about their pockets. Sad state what this game has turned into. But hey....that’s just my 2 cents. Wish other players would speak the truth not only about this but all MZ apps. They keep sending mass emails out how they are listening to the players on improving the experience. After a couple of bad experiences, will will soon find out, they are a just a bunch of lies. Dev responses to tickets do not reflect blog posts. Devs do not listen to players requests and concerns. They continue to show that their only concern is for a players wallet. AppLovin was supposed to be an improvement when they acquired game however it’s just more of the same crap just from a new company. It’s the people playing the game that keep me coming back, but I refuse to spend another cent on game until major changes occur. Including improved customer service, and truly displaying they hear the customers concerns. They recently created a player discord channel for select players to help with feedback however without consideration of the many playing styles available from paying to free play once again greed wins and the representation is for paying players. Once again free to play and mid level spenders are neglected. The devs have made it clear mid to low end and free players are the ugly red headed step children of game and only the golden child(aka big spenders) get a voice. So if you wanna a game where you can advance and have fun with the actual game part then this game is not for you. The game gives you a RSS page where items you buy are 100% safe unless you use more than you need and bring the resources into your empire for consumption. This game has a solid RPG character build system that makes it fun to grind that’s teamed with a flawless social interface. For those of us who spend money it takes simple reading, communication with advanced players and a bit of research to know how to get the best bang for your buck, if your into this type a game your here to do just that so jump in get your strategic mind set and have fun. There are so many components to the game it can keep you busy for hours. Addicted with my power and my rankings, love my guild and the people in it (Go Ishida Empire!!!). One of the only games where there is a sustainable way to grow “gems” (in this case gold coins) and you receive so many in the gameplay that I don’t even feel like I need to pay for packs. Also, at least in the beginning, upgrade times are short and they have a lovely upgradable “tap here to finish construction for free” button.
