Very similar to other kingdom defense games but with a FF twist. All the initial questing seems fun. Of course the progress is slow if you don’t spend anything. There was another FF XV kingdom defense game but it was so boring compared to this one. At least the graphics make me feel excited to keep progressing. Whenever I play games like this I just think about the time and money I put into the other similar games and I go, “Nice try, but too expensive too!” Is $5 really meaningful or just greedy? ### 2/5 — will be good after bugs and UI issues resolved *2023-05-16* Good story and I like how true it is to the Final Fantasy universe but it needs work. 1. It takes about 9-10 clicks to get in and out of selecting research. That’s 4-5 too many. Can’t request help for research until you are exited out of the university. That’s a toonnnn of tapping when you are doing beginning research that takes 1:30 (shorter with alliance helps) 2. Can’t equalize marches with one tap 3. The buttons that hover above buildings are too “busy.” There’s a spinning circle around each one and it just makes it feel overwhelming when you first log in. 4. Hammerhead Garage is level 1, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to upgrade it. Ami I missing something? 5. Whoever designed the animation after donating to guild research should be formally reprimanded. It’s bright, flashy, and fills my screen about 100 times a day. Completely unnecessary. I also don’t need laggy banner notifications for every successful guild research donation (for the uninitiated, you usually do 25 at a time so that’s 25 banner notifications). I’m sure there are other UI things that bother me but I’m forgetting. As for bugs, I’ve had to close the app and restart multiple times to make them go away. At first there is a lot of building and it goes fast then it gets slower and you may need to spend money to progress faster. Then the leveling up you hero’s is not easy at all it takes time and again money lots of money if you want to compete with the big guilds in which you can’t because they have spent BIG money to get there. The one thing is if you are in a good guild you will make friends and you laugh. So I’ll stick with it but I can’t pay the big money I’m retired on a fixed income. But again it’s a good game. All that I did then remains true. What has changed is the attitude of the company’s management. I have played in several realms and in multiple similar games and this game has gone the way of Game of War, if you are willingly to drop $1K do not bother playing. I play daily and can spend several hours doing so. I have been looking for a new realm to begin and checking multiple times each day for a new one. I found one and upon joining the top player has over 27M power and everyone the top 100 has multiple millions in power. Either hundreds of players jumped on the realm ready to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars or this “new” is not new and misleads players. The company is practicing deception and is taking advantage of players. I encourage players to be discriminating about your game choices and parents to be vigilant about the nature of the games, and the companies, that their children are playing. ### 1/5 — Final Fantasy XV: P2W edition *2023-04-02, version 11.3.7.69* Basically following the FF XV storyline with very little interaction. Collect, unlock, and rotate armies out for missions. It’s very lackluster on the gameplay side. It would do better with some more granular control of combat and missions that engage the player vs the current auto play and hope you win. The entire thing is geared towards you paying (way too much) for resources and power. $5 will get you nothing. $10 will get you half way to something. $20 and up will buy you a few wins. Daily freebies are minimal. This game was very fun and good from the beginning. However, throughout the weeks it has truly shown from the developers what they care about. That is the money in your pockets. Simple bugs like the guild help icon(visual bug) has gone for weeks without even being acknowledged as a bug. Troops in battles seem to have little to no consistency in power. Events are all money pack driven and only the people willing to dish out the money for an event will win and even when they win, they win peanuts. May change this update in the future, but for now this game should be getting a 0/5 stars. ### 3/5 — This game is a buggy mess *2023-03-17, version 11.2.4.67* I have spent more time fighting bugs than enjoying the game. Not really wanting to spend money on it now. Sometimes buildings won’t upgrade. It won’t allow you to upgrade them. Uninstalled and reinstalled game and it still wouldn’t work. Sometimes you can’t exit the VIP screen. You have to shut the game down and restart it again. Timers will go back and forth on times. It’ll show 5 seconds one time and then an hour and then back to 5 seconds. This game needs to be cooked a little longer. Rated it a 4 but lowered it to a 3. Will change if it’s ever fixed ### 1/5 — Typical Pay to Win *2023-03-15, version 11.2.4.67* The makers of this game excel at advertising how you should buy and pay to win. The ‘winners’ pay thousands and regular players who opt to not pay or or only buy s lottle become mining resources for the whales of this game. It’s a devolved game of zero skill, and instead how much and how fast you can spend. ### 1/5 — Hot garbage *2023-03-13, version 11.2.4.67* Maybe I’m just an old man who remembers too fondly the days when Final Fantasy involved some strategy and decision making. If you enjoy just watching automated battles and optionally tapping on a character portrait now and then with negligible effect, this may be the “game” for you. Oh and “building farms” while camped out for the night? Great implementation of the formula, guys. Why even bother trying to make things make sense? It’s as though it is run by disgruntled employees who want to get players to quit and the game to fail. For instance, there is an event where 2 realms compete. You might think that it would start at the same time in each realm, but you would be wrong. One realm starts on time; the other is delayed for over 2 hours. Guess which realm won? The one with a 2 hour head start. Rewards were awarded on that basis. Even though there were some restoration of resources and speedups, there was still a winner with a 2 hour advantage. The lack of consistency continues with the next event. Communication is different in each realm. Great graphics cannot make up for how poorly this game is run. Customer service is almost non existent. Often it takes days to get a response. Favorite response is… game is running as intended. Another is… could you send a video. If you like to play games competitively, I suggest you find another game. It should have a mature rating…. Not because of the game play, but because of the cruel human behavior that seems to be tolerated by the devs of this game. Everyday in realm chat you can witness cruel bullying behavior happening. It’s disgusting. For that alone I would love to give it zero stars. As for the game itself…..it’s enjoyable….but if you want to be any kind of contender in this game, you better be willing and able to pay a lot of money. There are players who have put thousands of dollars into this game. People spend a lot of time and money on this game and refusing to compensate players for a developer caused problem is absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable! Finally when it was finished my citadel is still at a lvl 24 and that’s impossible because I already had lvl 24 buildings before this construction was done I knew I was prepping for 25. I spend quite a bit on this game stretching multiple accounts and this is outrageous. Now I submitted to have my email changed because I don’t have access to the current email address but it tells me to check my new email for the verification email but it’s never there at all this has happened twice already. The art, the new voice lines were an utter delight. But now that the novelty is wearing off, the flaws are becoming more grating. In an active guild, the notifications fly in so quickly it’s easy to click on them unintentionally. Secondly, there’s a chance a panel will freeze open and remain up no matter what you click on for navigation. Just navigating around the map can result in the whole game crashing. Then there’s the almost constant sexist, racist, and homophobic comments in R37 realm chat. It’s like the Barrens chat all over again but, here, I can’t turn it off or avoid the zone. The entire set up is based on spending cash, everything is way overpriced and not enough content and way to slow if you don’t spend money. Game is not ready based on Final Fantasy it just has its characters, there is no customer service to speak of and what service there is never responds to any issues you are having unless it affects the entire realm. Unless you are rich or using your parents money I do not recommend as you will spend or watch everything you worked on go bye bye in 15 minutes.. That said, the game is glitchy as any that I have played…probably the worst. Activities hang up requiring you to reboot the game. Functions do not work and when the help is asked about this, the answers are vague, not informative, or incomplete. Another irksome feature is the lack of female avatars. The few that are there show the women as frivolous and lacking in character.
