## What is Finale Keyboard?

Finale Keyboard is a gesture-based minimal keyboard loaded with smart features to help you type faster. Ever used Fleksy (R.I.P)? You'll feel right at home. A new, freshly renovated, modern home.

Finale Keyboard is not your typical keyboard. While you type characters as usual, most other actions - like inserting spaces, autocorrecting, adding punctuation, and more - are done using swipe gestures.

Gestures allow you to type much faster than traditional keyboards. While they may take a few days to get used to, once they become second nature, you won't want to type without them.

Finale Keyboard also has the smallest footprint of any keyboards available on iPhone. So, not only will you type faster, but you'll also reclaim valuable screen real estate.

-- Features --

- Smallest keyboard for the iPhone:
Save your screen real estate for what matters the most.

- Easy-to-master gestures that let you type faster:
Type blazingly fast with convenient gestures for your most important actions.

- Smart autocorrect:
Swipe right after typing a word to quickly autocorrect it and insert a space. Don't worry about typos - Finale will take care of misspellings for you.

- Learns your vocabulary:
Often use "gonna", "wanna", "yaaas", or have your own unique slang? Finale Keyboard will automatically learn words you type often and add them to its dictionary.

- Shortcuts
Add shortcuts to any key and trigger them with a downward swipe or a long-press. Insert emojis, contact information, perform cut / copy / paste, and more.

- Clipboard history
Access your clipboard history to quickly paste anything you copied before. Perfect for links, codes, addresses, numbers and other text you might need to reuse.

- Dynamic touch zones
Finale Keyboard predicts which characters you are most likely to type next and will dynamically increase their touch zones to help you be more accurate.

- Favorite Emojis: Create a personalized emoji layout so your most-used emojis are always exactly where you expect them.

### 1/5 — Awwww, someone reinvented Fleksy?

*2026-08-22*

Awwww, how cute..! You want £99.99? For a spacebar? For a button that has been standard on every keyboard since the 1870s?

Everyone, look! This little tiny indie dev can't monetise a to-do app without holding basic text input hostage. Isn't that adorable?

You couldn't learn basic paywall design? Shipping something people would actually pay for was too hard? Aw, of course — I should've known. You can't even be bothered to spell "debt", "toddler" or "button" correctly in your own 400-word essay about how stupid I am. Three typos in a screen whose entire premise is my incompetence.

And that gesture you're so smug about? Swipe-right-for-space was Fleksy, December 2012. Built for blind and partially sighted users. So you took a thirteen-year-old accessibility feature, implemented it worse, and now mock people for not having "the hand-eye coordination" to use it. Read that back to yourself slowly.

Then there's the £0.99 loot box for a spacebar, and the part where you ask users to email you an insult about themselves. Genuinely charming stuff.

One star. Ship a keyboard as good as the one you copied, then get cocky.

**Developer response:** AHAHAHAHAHAA

1/5 for using ChatGPT, but 5/5 for the concept

### 5/5 — Fleksy is back!

*2026-08-19*

This is just great in all ways. Please add some nice color choices like fleksy had? But hell yeah, all amazing. So much better than t9 and ready for 2026.

Okay I just learned the gesture for return!

Keep going thanks again

**Developer response:** Yay, glad to hear it! Explore the Gestures Guide inside the app to learn all available gestures!

### 5/5 — Top

*2026-08-14*

### 3/5 — Like Fleksy La Croix

*2026-07-22*

I sure wish I could do things like type "Well,” but it auto-corrects it to “We’ll,” and no amount of swiping fixes it. Heaven forbid there are two punctuation marks next to each other. 3? Forget about it. Only one punctuation mark allowed at a time. And do you wAnT to TyPe CrAZy sometimes? Too bad. Correct capitalization only.

In its current state, definitely don’t pay money for this, but it has potential if the developer could let us type as funny as he thinks he is.

**Developer response:** hOlD "sHiFt" to DiSaBLe aUtOcOrReCt wHeN yOu wAnT to TyPe CrAZy.

### 5/5 — Best keyboard

*2026-06-24*

So happy to have found this.. It's the best one I've used.. And the developer is great, very helpful. Highly recommend.

**Developer response:** So happy to have read this.. It's the best one I've seen today.. And the reviewer is great, very kind. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Best keyboard!

*2026-06-14*

Better alternative to native iOS keyboard and improvement over the depreciated Fleksy app. Having to pay for a keyboard and not knowing what you'll get for it is risky but Finale is worth it.

The gestures are well thought through, practical, and intuitive.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the risk ✊

### 5/5 — Wonderful keyboard

*2026-06-11*

Tried in Portuguese and Spanish, and is even better than fleksy!

**Developer response:** Yay, how lovely :)

### 4/5 — The keyboard I have been looking for

*2026-06-03*

This keyboard is really great, the best part of it is its gestures and shortcuts. Only issue people will have is to get used to gestures and type without the spacebar.

**Developer response:** You say issue - I say feature! Screw the space bar movement ✊🏿

### 5/5 — Great app to use

*2026-06-02*

Alternative to fleksy

**Developer response:** May I say BETTER than Fleksy?

### 5/5 — Still a good keyboard

*2026-05-27*

Update on my past review.

Still a good keyboard, could use one improvement imo.
If you swipe to the emoji screen there's no way to swipe back to the standard keyboard without selecting an emoji.

**Developer response:** Hi Kyle! There sure is: just swipe back down to get to the regular keyboard :)

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.12.1 — 2026-08-20

- One-handed mode, for all my handicapped users. Freaks.
- You can now move the keyboard up and down. Only if you are insane, of course.

Refer below for an overview of our exciting new old features from previous updates:

- Clipboard history, so I could steal all the passwords you copy-paste.
- UI improvements, because looking good is more important than typing good.

** Going older **

- Long-press shortcuts, the second coming of Jesus type of an idea.
- Full rewrite under the hood that you will never get to see, so f*** me I guess.
- Fixed previously intentionally added bugs, because apparently I was wrong and someone does use this keyboard.

** Going even older **

- Added spacebar for the ultra-rich.
- Did anyone know that force unwrapping optional values might crash the app? Well, that no longer happens!

** Going even even older **

- Did you know that rendering images is less memory intensive than text emojis? I sure didn't. At least now emojis consume less RAM, making the keyboard more efficient.
- Allegedly violated some Apple's patents.
- Added minor bugs, but who cares, no-one uses this keyboard anyway.

** Going even even even older **

- Shortcuts, an idea descended from god.
- Emoji skin tones, for all your inclusivity needs.
- ~S.m.o.o.t.h.e.r~ animations.
- Landscape mode, in case if you are one of those weirdos.
- Fed the keyboard my pain so it less hungry, which drastically reduced memory consumption.
