## What is Finalist?

Inspired by paper planners, Finalist shows your calendar, tasks, notes, reminders and weather forecast in one beautiful timeline. It even pulls in your Journal Suggestions and Activity Rings to keep you inspired. Gorgeous themes make planning a joy, not a chore.

Finalist is built for people who finish things, no complex workflows or productivity theater.

NOTES, IN YOUR PLANNER
Your planner remembers what you wrote. A dedicated Notes tab gives you notebooks, tags and search. Keep native notes that sync over iCloud, or connect a folder of plain markdown files, including your Obsidian vault, and edit them in place. Tasks inside your markdown files become real Finalist tasks: dated, tagged and checkable anywhere in the app.

YOUR DAY, ON YOUR WRIST
The Apple Watch app puts your whole day one glance away: events, tasks, reminders and habits in one scrollable view, topped by a Now card that always knows what matters next. Check off pinned lists from the wrist, grocery list included, and add tasks by keyboard, scribble or dictation. Complications and a Smart Stack widget round it out. (Requires watchOS 26.)

DESIGN YOUR DAY
Choose between two Daily designs: Daybook, the classic stacked layout, or Broadsheet, a newsprint-inspired look that shines on iPad and Mac. Rearrange sections with the layout editor and save your own presets. On the rebuilt Timeline, drag tasks onto the grid to sketch your day in pencil, then commit when it's real.

"I've tried dozens of planning apps, this is the one that finally works." - Beta user

"The integration of Reminders and Lists reduces the apps I need daily and makes planning actually fun." - Beta user

Built with native Apple technologies: no accounts to create, syncs over iCloud, supports Family Sharing, and runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and Mac. Full database backup, export and import via JSON and OPML.

Finalist is a love letter to paper planners. Give it a try, it feels great :)

### 4/5 — iPhone app great. iPad app a mess. Doesn’t sync fully with each other

*2026-07-23*

Calendars don’t show up on iPad while they do show up on iPhone.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the report - can you let me know if 4.0 is having the same problems for you?

### 5/5 — The right combo for a Visual-Spatial Learner and Visionboard Goal Setter

*2026-06-22*

The main reason I found this app was for a habit streak tracker. But I’m so glad I found an app as functional and well-displayed as this one. I very much enjoy the view and interface of the main daily page. I also love being able to add photos and daily goals on top of habit tracking. I use the Apple heal to connect how many hours of sleep I got. It’s truly a nicely functional command center for a visual spatial person like myself, while being not too busy and not to overwhelming because you only see the parts you use. I love it.

### 5/5 — Beats Structured, TickTick, Things 3, and all other planner apps

*2026-06-19*

A firm believer in this app and its potential with future updates. The design language is clean, analog-almost, and feels like a digital extension of a physical planner, with the peace of mind of digital remembrance and continuity between your Apple devices.

The two-way seamless sync between this app and the native iOS Calendar and Reminders apps is a game changer. After taking a day to learn it, the investment in finding out about its workings and quirks makes daily planning so much more delightful as your time spent in the day becomes more meaningful. This app is going to change the way people value their time and how they plan their lives. Absolutely love it!

### 5/5 — The best I tried in 10 years

*2026-06-07*

If you have not tried it yet , get ready for a surprise. Finalist is the best available iOS iPadOS, and macOS task, an event manager in the App Store. The iPad version especially shines with a fantastic yearly planner (yes finally!) synced with a left panel with quick scrolling into the details of the days. Visual interface is a delight.

### 5/5 — Best planned app out there

*2026-06-06, version 3.7.3*

LOVE this app. By far the best planned app I’ve used. Everything all in one, looks appealing, love it!

### 5/5 — Calendar??

*2026-06-01*

I downloaded the app today and installed it. I have a big trip in August on the calendar but finalist doesn’t seem to see it. Also I can’t find an email address for te
Update I found it. And I updated the stars

But a support email would be helpful

### 5/5 — Awesome Daily planner

*2026-04-26*

This app has made organizing my day effortless. The interface is clean and intuitive, so adding tasks, setting reminders, and checking my day at a glance are stress-free. Now, I don’t feel overwhelmed with what to do and I can put my plans into perspective. Aside from that, the developer is responsive, so if any issues arise, just send a message and the dev will surely look into it. Worth to download and support!

### 5/5 — Why doesn’t mobile and desktop sync?

*2026-04-04, version 3.6.1*

I love this app and just bought the lifetime license. However I am very confused as to why my tasks and planner do not sync between my iphone and my Apple laptop. Can someone help me?

### 5/5 — Epic organiser for your life !

*2026-04-02, version 3.6.1*

Finalist is a brilliant app for getting yourself organised! With a very responsive developer, and gorgeous UI - finalist is jam packed with features to keep your personal and work lives organised. I thoroughly recommend this.

### 5/5 — Best in Class Daily Planner!

*2026-03-30*

I’ve explored quite a few calendar and planner apps, especially those with a classic calendar look. Lately, I’ve been drawn to agenda-style planners, so I was thrilled to check out Finalist. After a couple months of use it’s become my go to app. I can confidently say Finalist strikes the perfect balance. It’s an amazing app that offers a lot of flexibility to suit different needs.

Finalist draws inspiration from traditional paper planners and really embraces the Day Planner feel. Its standout feature is the Daily tab, which organizes all your calendar events and tasks. You can customize it to only show the information that matters most to you. The design is incredibly detailed, with great typography and color choices that help draw attention to the important stuff.

Plus, Finalist works well with Apple’s Reminders in addition to its own tasks function. Between the two, I’ve been able to manage my to-do list very well.

Finalist is so beautiful and thoughtfully designed that it makes me want to use it. It’s simplified my planning and made it easier to manage my day and get things done. Highly recommended!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.0.1 — 2026-08-09

Finalist 4.0 is the biggest release since launch: four months of open beta, 40 builds, and a planner that is now complete on every screen.

NOTES
A new Notes tab with notebooks, an Inbox, tags and global search. Keep native notes that sync over iCloud, or connect any folder of markdown files, including your Obsidian vault, and edit them in place. Markdown tasks become real Finalist tasks. Pin notes to Daily, date a note to surface it on the right day, or long-press the big PLUS to dictate one instantly.

APPLE WATCH (NEW)
Finalist comes to the wrist. A Now card answers the day's current question, from your first moves in the morning to an evening wrap-up with streaks to protect. Below it, one scrollable view of events, tasks, reminders and habits. Long-press a task for Done, Tomorrow, or In 10 Minutes. Pinned lists are checkable from the wrist, and complications plus a Smart Stack widget keep your day on the watch face. Requires watchOS 26.

YOUR DAY, REDESIGNED
Daily now has two looks: Daybook, the classic, and Broadsheet, a newsprint-inspired design for big screens. A new layout editor lets you rearrange sections, build multi-column spreads on iPad and Mac, and save presets. The Timeline is rebuilt from the ground up: free time compresses so busy stretches get the room, and you can drag tasks in to sketch your day in pencil, then tap Accept to make the times real.

ALSO IN 4.0
