### 5/5 — Artemis made me sad

*2025-12-20*

Finderkit made me happy!

### 5/5 — As good as it gets

*2025-12-20, version 1.14*

And better than similar apps!

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2025-06-02, version 1.9*

Love this - User interface is very intuitive, which has been a major source of frustration for me with other apps like this. Love the layout and functionality - This is allowing me to plan the shots for my film with extreme precision so I can be efficient on the day. Thank you for designing, I look forward to using much more!

### 5/5 — Latest version is buggy

*2025-03-22, version 1.8*

This app is a fantastic tool but the latest version has been buggy for me. First, I have been unable to export stills and videos that have been organized into projects. It keeps saying “file does not exist.” The work around has been to repair the library but then all the porjects are lost and the images are have to be re-organized.

Related to this, sometimes videos I have recorded will only appear as one black frame.

Last thing is the my saved camera and lens setups will sometimes disappear and I’ll have to remake it all.

Once these bugs are ironed out I’m happy to give this 5 stars because it really can be the best viewfinder app.

### 5/5 — Best viewfinder app by far

*2025-03-16, version 1.8*

All the features of other viewfinder apps but much easier to use!

### 5/5 — absolutely great for planning shots!

*2025-03-13, version 1.8*

I love this app! everything is well laid out and easy to access. You can create projects and its all really well set up! I have tried the Cadrage app because it was recommended to me and i had it refunded because i found that Finder's kit was more user friendly and i like that you can full screen the viewfinder and your phone litterally becomes a monitor wereas the Cadrage app always has a toolbar taking up space on the screen. Also i found that this app is way more accurate when i compare the field of view with what i see on my camera monitor. The other app was not matching at all even when i put all the correct lens/camera combo i was using.

### 5/5 — Love the Mac version

*2025-03-05*

Taking photos on the scout and then organizing at home on the Mac is so useful

### 5/5 — This saved my shoot!

*2024-02-23, version 1.1*

After struggling to lock the proper framing for a really pivotal scene, the finder kit worked to perfection. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great library of cameras and lenses!

*2023-12-13, version 1.0.1*

Love the extensive library of cameras and lenses that let you really dial in your perfect field of view. The library of anamorphic lenses is especially useful.

### 5/5 — Best available viewfinder app

*2023-12-01, version 1.0.1*

Very nice interface. Easy to use. Comprehensive. Fast. Nice organizational tools. Works great with CameraKit and LensKit. Will definitely be my go to!

### 5/5 — Easy

*2023-12-01, version 1.0.1*

This app is almost too easy to use.

### 5/5 — Intuitive, easy, clean yet robust

*2023-12-01, version 1.0.1*

A lot more intuitive than other such apps. Interface is super easy to navigate (points for the introductory tips along the way).

It has everything I need for a scout or rehearsal. Even helpful when I’m on set and wanna feel something out before getting the whole camera position, move, and lens up and running.

Nice to have this tool in the tool belt!

### 5/5 — Essential & Excellent Tool

*2023-11-28, version 1.0*

This app is a perfect companion to the CameraKit and LensKit apps, and works wonderfully in unison with them. This allows you to select your camera and lens on a scout at a location to plan out the shots. You can even have a stand-in and work out the blocking in advance. Take pictures or video with all the relevant data. It’s awesome! Then on set you can still use it to block the shot and record a video of the planned camera move and blocking to ensure your camera team has an idea of what the shot is and what the camera and lens combination will do when the camera is placed for real in scene. Such an essential and excellent tool for planning your film/video production.

### 5/5 — Easy choice

*2023-11-28, version 1.0*

FinderKit has approached the viewfinder experience from the perspective of us, day to day filmmakers, and not programmers. It’s intuitive. It’s fast. It’s not feature heavy until you need it to be.

Everything I need to do, I can do without interrupting my on set flow.

Great attention to detail I came to expect from CameraKit and LensKit now branching out into viewfinder world!

### 5/5 — Explore

*2023-11-27*

Intuitive design, a friendly interface, and a tremendous resource. I’d recommend it to all who are interested.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 2/5 — Lied on price

*2025-12-06, version 1.14*

Great app, but it said it was $29 for lifetime membership and I got charged $49!!! Liars!!!

### 2/5 — Good Potential

*2025-01-16, version 1.6*

Nice looking very usable interface and good selection of camera and lenses. Let down by unstable app that crashes consistently when metadata burn-in is disabled. Unusable at the moment. Will be unsubscribing.

Would also be good if 1.3x vs 2x anamorphic selection can be locked and saved rather than resetting to 1.3x every single time I open the app.

### 3/5 — Needs fixes and memory

*2025-05-09, version 1.9*

For one, would love to have the app default to the last camera / lens I had prior to closing the app. Would speed up my scouts incredibly.

Second, suddenly my entire media bin from my last scout has disappeared without a trace so now I have nothing to show from the last several hours

### 4/5 — The most user intuitive and cleanest viewfinder out there.

*2024-10-17, version 1.5*

I really do mean it when I say this is the best looking and intuitive viewfinder app out there. You can tell how much work and thought was put into it with just the UI alone.

This app is stable, fast, and simple to use. But that’s just the icing on the cake. What I really love about this app is the strong organization tools for saving shots and making them into projects. Other apps have this too sure but this app makes it way easier to do this and in less steps.

Another strong point for this app is the very detailed info for certain configurations. For example, if you choose the FX3 as your camera, you can then choose your frame rate and you will have the estimated bitrate when choosing certain resolutions, and codecs. Very nice!

If I can make any suggestions it would be to either integrate more lenses(for me Tamron) or give us the option to have hard limits for the focal ranges when choosing the Generic Zoom option. I don’t see a point in having an infinite range, yes it might be fast but I want to save detailed kits akin to what I have.

I wish the best for this Dev and am looking forward to use this app more and more!

### 5/5 — Excellent viewfinder!

Exactly what I needed! Very useful indeed.

### 5/5 — Everything you want and more

It continues to impress me

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best in the space imo

*2026-06-08, version 1.18*

Other apps like this have driven me crazy. Bad interfaces, stuff buried where you’d never find it. This one just works. Rare to feel like something was actually designed with the user in mind

### 5/5 — Artemis made me sad

*2026-06-03, version 1.17*

Finderkit made me happy

### 5/5 — Good stuff
