### 4/5 — Love it, but also needs to polish with more rich feature

*2018-11-13, version 1.3.5*

Not a scientist nor researcher, I use Findings as a notebook, rather than research tracking tool. I love how I can review my notes from mobile, but different kind of notes is now consider as experiment on mobile. Current stage doesn’t have ability to view all feature on the MacOS. I really hope developers can expend the horizon of what both MacOS and IOS app can do, and craft features that can be implemented for different field with the same scientific documentation techniques. Thank you for the good app.

### 4/5 — From experiments to literature

*2018-06-07, version 1.3.5*

I use the Findings App daily on my Laptop and now also on my iPhone. I can keep my files and experiments nicely organized with Findings.

My wish for upcoming versions: iCloud integration.

### 4/5 — Helpful ELN, please consider adding...

*2018-04-16, version 1.3.3*

I really like this app and find it to be very useful in organizing my experiments. I would just like to provide one suggestion—could you add a materials section to the protocol? It might be me, as I am still in the learning process of using the app, but I cannot seem to incorporate the materials required for any particular protocol.

### 4/5 — Overall is a must have app

*2017-10-02, version 1.3.3*

This is a must have app for lab researchers. Hope it can be even more good.

### 4/5 — Cannot sync [fixed]

*2017-06-19, version 1.3.2*

Cannot sync with Dropbox

Update: support is very helpful. Now the issue is fixed by a pretty complex way.

### 4/5 — Good, but not without flaws

*2017-06-08, version 1.3.2*

This app is pretty solid in terms of what you can track with it, and I haven't found anything better in a standalone app. However, , it has some issues with text formatting that interrupt the workflow somewhat. For example, when adding a new paragraph to an experiment, if text is selected and you press the "title" button to convert that text to a heading, the text is no longer selected, so you need to go back and delete it manually. Also, it's not possible to add separate paragraph styles at the same time--changing to a heading style will change all of the text on the edit paragraph screen, even if two would-be paragraphs are separated by a blank line.

That said, the app has improved dramatically in both features and stability over the past few years, and if you can get past the spots where the not-quite-intuitive workflows affect the user experience, it's definitely a worthwhile investment for a student or researcher looking for a digital lab notebook solution.

### 5/5 — Changed my grad school experience

*2017-02-09, version 1.3.2*

The app is great. So convenient and powerful. Made me so much more organized and improved my ability as a researcher. Tech support questions and feature requests are responded to quickly.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2016-12-28, version 1.3.2*

Very useful app, this was a very original idea, keep forward, thanks

### 5/5 — Great labbook software

*2016-12-22, version 1.3.2*

I am very happy with the Findings software. It has a nice set up for experiments and protocols. It is very intuitive and user-friendly. Plus the data can be stored locally which is a requirement in many research institutes.

### 5/5 — Great for lab and field work.

*2016-12-12, version 1.3.2*

I used Findings consistently throughout my masters program to track experiments and keep my notes, photos and data organized. When I started working, I thought it would be another beloved app that would never get opened again - but Findings has been AWESOME for field work in the same ways it was for lab work. No need to write which photo numbers correspond to which sites - just keep it all in an "experiment" in Findings. The best part is writing my nightly field reports - I just export my notebook to pdf and email to my project manager.

### 4/5 — Works ok

*2016-12-06*

Works ok, occasional issues with syncing.

### 5/5 — Super application!

*2016-12-06, version 1.3.2*

Cette application a complètement remplacée mon cahier de laboratoire ordinaire. Le petit plus : la combinaison Apple Watch et iPhone dans le labo permet de lancer des timers au bon moment et de ne rater aucune étape ! Continuez comme ça :)

### 5/5 — Great lab aid

*2016-11-23, version 1.3.2*

The perfect lab logbook: it organises your experiments by date, with definable recipes. Then you can add photos, notes, etc on the spot!

### 5/5 — 전자 실험노트로 쓰기에 매우 편함.

*2016-11-09, version 1.3.2*

### 5/5 — Perfect for Graduate Student Life Science Research

*2016-08-25, version 1.3.2*

Perfect light weight companion to the desktop app, which together are a great, simple electronic lab notebook for a grad student like myself.

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing!!!

*2020-01-15, version 1.3.5*

Ever since the os update, both the iPad and Mac versions of this app keep crashing! It makes it really hard in the lab to depend on this app if the protocol I’m using crashes after just a minute every time!!

Edit: iPad app still crashing!!!

I still have yet to hear back from the developer about the crashes, even though I see they’re active on the forum. Really frustrating as this is my main repository for all my data and it is crashing!!!!

### 1/5 — Nice idea....

*2017-03-13, version 1.3.2*

I find it pretty much a disaster. You can't use the Apple pencil to sketch in ideas....typing only.

The paragraphs format is too rigid, you can only move then around , sort of.

Photos land on top of paragraphs, blocking the paragraph. I don't think you can delete a photo once inserted...as it sits over your text. Trying to move a photo seems to create copies of the photo.

Can't find a decent lab notebook app, they all seem written by people never in a lab.

### 1/5 — It Keeps crashing!

*2016-03-26, version 1.3*

The iPad version does not even open! It just crushes. No problem with the MacBook version.

### 1/5 — crash!

*2016-02-29, version 1.3*

iOS 8.4.1 iphone6
Findings crashes! plz fix this.

### 2/5 — Plenty of improvements needed

*2016-02-17, version 1.3*

V1.2 - The app is great I love how protocols can be put together to create an experiment, this is how I work in lab.

Something I would like though is to be able to reset the timer in case I accidentally set it off early or need to repeat the step without deleting the timer and adding it again, you can do it on the Apple Watch so why not on the phone?

V1.3 - Now I can't add timers at all on protocols?

### 2/5 — Nice app but not yet fully usable

*2015-04-24, version 1.2*

Nice layout for protocols and experiments. However if you sync the app with findings for Mac and have sub or superscripts, then all the formatting goes out the window and you end up with something looking like html code instead.
Hope the developers will fix this soon.

### 3/5 — Good app but limitations.

*2019-01-24, version 1.3.5*

The iCloud sync option is must with the fact that this is a paid app. This shouldn’t be a big issue to sync through iCloud. Just like notes app of the apple but don’t know why is that it has been forever to get that essential feature. Otherwise it is very limited and not good enough to work with.

### 3/5 — Still to fulfil potential

*2018-04-17, version 1.3.3*

Good app for lab research but only that. The desktop app is much more versatile including research and meeting notes if the iOS app had that too I’d push this to 4 and maybe a 5 star rating.

Edited due to developer response.

### 3/5 — Some Issues

*2016-06-06, version 1.3.1*

I'll start off by saying I do enjoy this app. It's extremely convenient if I happen to misplace my lab notebook or want to take quick notes. My only issue (and this could be human error) would be when I try to upload my findings to Dropbox to share with my team, all my notes, and comments get deleted. The only thing that shows up on Dropbox are my photos themselves (unlabeled). My tabs and labels show up as a sequence of numbers and not their original labels. All my other work was deleted along with my folder titles (from the app) so I don't know what things are or where they are placed.

### 3/5 — Basic Features

*2015-06-03, version 1.2.1*

The idea of the app is great and there aren't any other apps like it on the AppStore.

Sync to Dropbox is a nice touch for backup, which is crucial.

The one thing I would like to see in a future update is the ability to export the protocols or experiments as a pdf or to email.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Please don’t let it die

*2020-08-04, version 1.3.5*

I’ve loved this app from the first moment I’ve started using it. It’s so handy to have it on my iPad and carry it everywhere, without losing information. I don’t understand why it hasn’t been updated anymore ☹️

### 5/5 — Excelente

*2020-01-22, version 1.3.5*

Bien pensada. Es única en su género. Como todo siempre puede mejorar.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2019-08-04, version 1.3.5*

I find this app along with the desktop version very helpful to organize and keep track of data. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Findings 2.0

*2019-07-27, version 1.3.5*

I really hope the update for suitable new findings 2 on Mac

### 5/5 — Sehr Gutes Laborbuch

*2018-11-20, version 1.3.5*

Hoffe aber das einige Funktionen der Mac-Version auch aufs iPad kommen. Vor allem das Erstellen von Tabellen fehlt mir derzeit in der iOS version.

### 5/5 — Returning user

*2018-09-17, version 1.3.5*

Used it on Mac and loved it. Have used it before on iPad but was not 100 percent sure it was completely usable. I will give it a second shot!

### 5/5 — better than other expensive ELN and friendly for Mac

*2017-09-20, version 1.3.3*

easy to save and search

### 5/5 — So good

*2017-04-24, version 1.3.2*

Would love to sharing options for Google Classroom or within the app itself to use in a classroom setting to share lab instructions!

### 5/5 — Good and intuitive

*2017-04-01, version 1.3.2*

Perfect as personal labbook. Compared to other programmes it is still possible to delete entries (in case you realize a typo or have added a table) which is nothing you're supposed to do with your data in a labbook. I have the mac version as well, but the Dropbox syncing is not working and unfortunately no other cloud choices are given (I have a local cloud I'd like to use). But still love it!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-03-20, version 1.3.2*

iPhone and desktop apps integrate nicely
