Was able to download the app but not able to create an account. Was told that our emails were already in the system (incorrect) but that Forgot My Password link did not do anything. Super frustrating because our friend raved about how great Findster was and the modules are still functional but we can’t use the app ### 1/5 — Unusable app *2023-03-27, version 2.6.8* Beginning to thing this brand/product is a scam. I’d give this app 0 stars if I could. No way to login. Tried to create an account and it says the email already exist - there is always an error when you say forgot password. App can’t connect to the other two options it gives (Apple login and Facebook login). No contact or help from customer service saying they’re outside of their working hours when it’s within the time they specify on their automatic response ### 1/5 — Dead app and company *2023-02-13, version 2.6.8* All methods of logging in are locked out. Can’t use the Findsters I have anymore due to this. What useless garbage! UPDATE 1: I contacted Findster at the email they provided and it was returned because the email doesn’t exist. What the heck? UPDATE 2: I contacted Findster at the next “correct” email they provided and never got a response. I also contacted them right from their website and nothing. Clearly some third party is still on the hook to respond to app reviews. ### 1/5 — Is Findster still in business?? *2023-01-20, version 2.6.8* I haven’t use my Duo+ in a while and when I tried to log in to my account just now on the app, it didn’t recognize me. So I opted to reset my password. Got the automated reset email, but encounter “Server Error 500” when submitting my new password. Can’t log in with Apple ID, either. Is the app just a ghost now?? ### 1/5 — Bad connection *2022-08-12, version 2.6.8* Looses connection all the time and can’t track my dog after he’s more than 100ft away. Has only gotten worse over time. It has been a tremendous help. Sometimes the charger doesnt charge reliably. May have connection issues. Otherwise love it! I am out of. My first one worked ok for a while but then it started giving me messages that it was disconnecting and reconnecting even when my dog had not moved and was in the same room. I purchased a second module and tracker. Soon after I activated it I received an unauthorized $3.99 charge on my credit card for a subscription that I never signed up for. This is an unacceptable business practice and reflects the ethics and integrity of the company. I suggest you avoid doing business with Findster. ### 1/5 — Wow *2021-12-23, version 2.6.8* I purchased this product over 3 years ago and returned it because it did not work. I gave it a poor review at that time. Now 3 years later I was contacted asking how they could make the product better. I politely replied that I never used the Findster because it didn’t work and to please remove me from their contact list. They said they’d remove me if I deleted my review…how convenient for THEM. I did remove it but decided to write a new one as I can’t believe a company support person would be so manipulative. I no longer feel polite… ### 2/5 — Nice idea but flawed *2021-08-31, version 2.6.8* I got the Findster Duo. It works decently, but there are some glaring flaws. First and foremost, the module does not fit well on many standard collars. The collar is expected to squeeze through a plastic slot and it’s just too narrow. By contrast, Whistle 3 uses rubber for this and it works better. Own goal here. Second, if you lose the Guardian module there’s no way to find it. At all. If you lose the tracker module, you can get GPS but that doesn’t really help within your house. It should have a beep or directional signal or SOMETHING. But, it is GPS without a monthly fee and that’s nice. ### 2/5 — Hidden fees *2021-08-18, version 2.6.8* I purchased this tracker specifically because it said it had no monthly fees. However you are required to purchase findster care when you purchase the tracker. My tracker came with no explanation of findster care or mention of it at all. The website does not explain findster care well and once you learn what it is you have to search to figure out how to opt out (send an email to them- there’s no place to opt out in the app and it is not listed as a subscription on your phone along with music/tv/etc). Because they hide it so well, I didn’t know I could opt out or that I was even paying for it. I thought it was just a part of the app I found annoying. I was relatively happy with the tracker (some problems with the magnetic charging port collecting mica causing the port not to work - cleaned with q-tip in alcohol and compressed air and tweezers). It was a lot of work but I appreciated the long range of the tracker. Now I’m just disgusted with the hidden subscription fees that have piled up and cleaning that port every time no longer seems worth it. ### 3/5 — Think about what you want it for.; *2021-07-15, version 2.6.8* I was using the Findster tracker religiously, it was really good to track my dog’s activity. Think of it more as a Fitbit type device for pets rather than a gps location tracker. However, like all activity trackers there are levels, badges, rewards, etc., the more activity you undertake. I found I was perpetually stuck on “level 1 - sloth” for a number of reasons, despite my dog being out for 1-2 hours a day: Firstly, one of the activities to achieve the next level is 2 x 3km walks. The device only seems to recognise “as the crow flies” distances, and won’t recognise a dog racing around within a small area such as a park, which is more active than a walk because they run miles within a small area. So because we live close to my local park, we never achieved the required distances. This becomes somewhat tiresome and the inability to progress makes you give up on the device/app. The other issue is that the goals are based on data you input about your dog. So it won’t recognise how active your dog was within a small area, or if they are more active for their breed. It makes assumptions about the level of activity required of your pet, etc. It’s all fairly generic. It’s good for tracking your pet, but the device requires a module attached to the dog and another Bluetooth module in your pocket. So if you’re looking for a device to track your pet if they get lost, I don’t think it will work unless you are within Bluetooth range. There is a big difference between a genuine GPS tracker and a Bluetooth tracker that uses GPS data. This is the latter. ### 1/5 — Absolute crap *2021-04-16, version 2.6.8* They keep releasing updates promising better GPS accuracy but it never gets better. The platform is built on cheap hardware and the GPS doesn’t update frequently enough to be useful. The “radar” feature is just a silly utility to guide you to a GPS point that hasn’t updated for hours so also useless unless you are atop a mountain with visibility for miles at which point you can see your dog... Garbage. Move on. Return the hardware if you bought it already. For the past TWO YEARS, I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription, and no one has bothered to respond or assist me in any way. The customer service is completely nonexistent. I have reached out multiple times, both via email and through their support system, and I’ve received nothing but silence. It's honestly baffling that a company can be so careless with their customers. Two years of endless attempts to resolve a simple issue and not even a single acknowledgment from their support team. I’m left paying for a service that doesn’t work, with absolutely no help in sight. If you’re considering using Findster, I strongly advise you to reconsider. You might find yourself stuck in a never-ending loop of frustration, with zero support when you need it the most. This company is now called ‘maven.pet’ so beware if you are considering any of their products. Even though it’s a disgraceful company. I monitor my dog’s location on hikes in the forest. He orbits me, out of site much of the time, but with Findster I always know where he is. A few whistles brings him back. Only thing is having to start it as a walk when u let him out and end it when he comes back. I thought it was a little too big for a cat maybe more suitable for a dog but he hasn’t complained or been bothered by it at all.
