Asks you to restore purchase’s but does nothing. Cancelled my subscription. ### 1/5 — Why? *2020-03-23* I continually have to delete and reload to see my subscription. What is wrong with this a-p it gets stuck on the spinning wheel. I’m considering canceling this and my print subscription. I’ve been a subscriber to the print for decades and the online since it was available but this is getting ridiculous I t’s been going on for a long time. Please fix or refund. ### 1/5 — App does not work. *2019-11-27, version 7.0.3* Update 26Nov19: Well...back to the spinning wheel of death and the app does nothing. So nice to have lost 2.5 years worth of issues and some of the special issues as well. Kalmbach needs to fire their app developers and get their money back. Do not bother with this app. If you already have it, best of luck in getting Kalmbach Publishing to provide you with any assistance at all. FSM Staff will at least try and help you, but they are not the tech behind it. So we are all stuck waiting until enough of us complain that the current version of the app is not working properly. On my end, cancelling my subscription and loosing the last 2 months on my subscription at least gave me access to my archives. Would advise checking out FSM’s primary method of delivering e-copies and not using the Apple Stores App. Go directly to FineScale.com and subscribe through them directly. Can’t guarantee that that route will give you problem free reading, but at least you will have an easier time dealing with their customer support...I think. ### 1/5 — Completely nonfunctional *2019-11-18* Completely nonfunctional - would not restore purchases, several years of back issues no longer accessible and now will not get beyond start up splash screen. Customerservice link doesn’t work. Too many issues like this forced me to cancel my subscription today. Yes I still expect you to fix the app so that I can access the magazines I’ve paid for. After that I’ll look at re-subscribing. As others have said, can no longer access app on iPad Air 2. Icon just spins at title page with P 51 on it. After the update not only can’t I access those issues but any request for help goes unanswered. They just keep trying to sell you more subscriptions. So I lost my money to apple and fine scale modeler. No matter how you slice it this is bad business and just dishonest. They took my money, can’t get it back through apple or any of the other hoops! I’ve been an on again off again subscriber but I’m done with FSM for good now - too many better options for good info that are far less of a headache. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work and publisher claims nothing is wrong. *2019-10-01* Since the update I've not been able to do anything with the app. Removing and reinstalling does not work, restoring purchases does not work, login does not work. I can get as far as the loading screen (the P51 model) and watch a little spinning thing spin. I have been going back and forth with the publisher who has gone back and forth with the developer who claims nothing is broken. This will be my last subscription with Kalmbach. ### 1/5 — Latest update *2019-09-20* Will not recognize that I’m subscribed till November 2018. Wants me to buy the issues individually. Impossible to get help from Kalmbach and Apple help is a maze that I haven’t figured out. So they got my $39 and I have nothing in return. Oh and this very funny and I bet the idiots in IT are still laughing about this one but if you try to go APP Support you get the 404 Page not found message. Very funny Apple IT. Sept 2019 Again nothing works and I can’t access any of my past issues. They want me to log in with my email or user name. They will not recognize any of my email addresses as being valid. Still no help. Kalmbach still blames Apple and Apple has no support. A call to the Kalmbach actually asked me for my apple user name and password. That’s a sure way to get an account jacked! Canceled subscription renewal after 3 years of subscription. ### 1/5 — Vanished *2019-05-21* I as well have lost the last three years of magazines and special issues via this app. I have called and written for help, only to be told that there is nothing they can do but that my name is “on a list”. Great way to lose readers. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Here we go again *2023-12-28* Update: It is now 2 weeks after the last iOS version came out & surprise, surprise, I still can’t open Finescale Modeler or restore my purchases if I can get it to open from the app store. I don’t think the folks that are supposed to take care of these problems have a clue what’s happening. Once again an iOS update has caused Finescale Modeler to crash & burn. Now it seems that NOTHING will make it work. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the app several times without success. If I uninstall & reinstall, I have to use the app store to open the magazine. The issues are all locked. If I try to verify my purchases, it goes to the opening page & stalls. It’s obvious from the constant problems that whoever is responsible doesn’t care whether it works or not. ### 1/5 — Here we go again *2023-12-14* Once again an iOS update has caused Finescale Modeler to crash & burn. I’ve had this app for several years and have paid for many articles that are now completely inaccessible. It appears that the developer has no Interest in fixing it. I’ll chock up my losses and if I want to see builds of models or find modeling tips I guess I’ll just have to use the internet...for free. I don’t know what I’ll do without being spammed on every other page with advertisements. Which ironically is why I thought you “pay” for a subscription to begin with, so as to avoid all the ads. These guys want the best of both worlds, my dollars and advertising dollars. Then not to even support the app that I have to pay for every month???
