## What is Fingerboard Explorer?

An app for guitarists to help visualize patterns and relationships.

Skill Level: Intermediate and up.

Music is all about patterns and relationships. This app will help you explore those patterns and relationships.

It does not tell you where to put your fingers, it shows you what notes are available for the patterns you choose.

You can visualize:
The spelling of a chord or scale.
The intervals in the chord or scale.
Where the notes fall on the fingerboard.

Or if that is too much information, you can toggle off anything that is distracting your focus.

Move through a set of patterns, like arpeggios over chord changes, and see what changes.

You can also modify the open tuning and visualize the chords or scales with the new tuning.

## Key features

- Visualize chord and scale spellings
- Display intervals in chords/scales
- Note locations on fingerboard
- Customizable display options
- Explore arpeggios over chord changes
- Support for open tunings

### 5/5 — Great for intermediate guitarists putting theory into view

*2021-11-03, version 1.0*

I’m picking the guitar back up after a long stall in intermediate guitar limbo. But this app helped me put the mind-blowing theory I’ve been refocusing on into a view that helps it make sense. Has helped me put a lot of the concepts; scales, chords, modes and progressions, right on the fretboard, so I can see the relationships, where to play, how progressions change things- and I’m getting better. The interface isn’t as user friendly as more novice players might hope for, so this is really for when you know enough theory to be dangerous, then this really works to map things out.

**Developer response:** That makes me so happy to know that it helped you connect some dots. I've found that the more ways we can understand music, the deeper our relationship with music becomes. It's phisical, emotional, conceptual, and like everything else it's always about relationships.
