The ability to use “older” characters is utterly broken. The inherit skills is basically worthless as new characters come perfectly stacked and old characters are too worthless to waste good skills on. Dragon flowers are not enough to make any characters worth anything that are old (and they are stupid rare for you to do so anyway), neither is merging. What hurts the most is after you build up a custom character, you get to see them get one shotted by the new banner characters at level 40. Don’t get me wrong, I still play this game and have since it started basically, but they have utterly broken a lot of the mechanics that involved much skill. Now it’s just “do I have the latest banner characters?” If you do, you’re good to go. There is some skill, but customization is pretty pointless as a mechanic now. Then to top it off, they put auto play behind the paywall. I subscribed for a while, but it’s pretty pointless in the long run. The gifted characters that have new art and outfits are neat, but they can’t be used seriously in any battle sense because they will fall to any new banner characters since they’re old. I still have fun with this game despite all that being said. I like the mechanics and have been playing it since the start. I’ve never stopped asking for the ability to have Japanese Audio in the US version. That would be amazing. It’s just sad to see all the mechanics become worthless and the old characters collect dust on my digital shelf of probably over 750 now. They broke this game. I don’t think they can fix it. ### 3/5 — Einfach totale abzocke geworden *2026-07-27* 3 Sterne weil das Spiel an sich eines der besten in diese Richtung ist. Ich spiele es seit Release und es wird immer gieriger. Man merkt das es von Nintendo kommt, die nur noch an Geld und Gier denken anstatt gute Arbeit zu leisten. An sich macht es Spaß, aber man bekommt einfach keine Sphären mehr ( Echt Geld Währung um Charaktere zu pullen ) man muss mehrere Monate sparen wenn man ein Char 2 mal bekommen möchte um zumindest die erste + Form zu bekommen die am meisten bringt, also ja pay 2 win ist es zu 100% auch noch. Ich hole mir nur noch selten den Monats pass wenn mindestens 2 Charaktere drin sind die mir gefallen. Im großen und Ganzen ein sehr gutes Spiel, es scheitert leider wieder nur an die schiere Gier eines Konzerns. Vlt. Boykottier ich Nintendo bald komplett und spiele auch dieses Spiel nicht mehr wenns so weiter geht. Fire Emblem Heroes ist momentan noch das einzige was ich von Nintendo spiele. I’ve been playing this game for 7 months now, and it’s been mostly good so far. Some of the only negatives so far is that the game keeps crashing sometimes whenever i open the app, and new chapters take too long (or im just impatient.) Other than that, I love the story, gameplay, everything! I used to be on the game 24/7 when I was in school I loved the game. I’ve been occupied as of late and decided to open up the game see how things are holding up. It was a lot to process honestly leaving me astonished on how crazy the new abilities are. Some of the builds I’ve seen are creative to say the least. The game still has a place in my heart but I don’t think I can invest anymore time in the game to keep up with the ever changing environment. To other returning players strap yourself in and prepare to read paragraphs upon paragraphs of abilities. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Power creep is out of control *2026-08-31, version 10.8.0* I was a long time player since launch, but I took about a year and a half gap due to the repetitive nature of it and the power creep of every new unit needing to completely outclass what came before. I just returned recently only to see the problem has gotten exponentially worse to the degree that even my most elite top tier investment team that was as maxed out as the units could be were being one shot by the level 30 variants of the new units in events. With zero way to play around it since there are infinitely stacking mechanics that you cannot avoid. This game was fun once upon a time but now it’s an endless loop of buy new units with your wallet or become irrelevant to the most extreme degree. It was always pay to win as everything with this structure is but it has become pay to play at this point and any hero you spend on will be worthless in two weeks when the next banner drops. Spending years on the game because chars may repeat every 3-4months or so. Or spend money on orbs besides the feh pass. You get 200-300 orba per month do the math. It is a waste of time! Well I guess this is the new era of mobile games lol ### 1/5 — Same characters keep getting alts *2026-07-06, version 10.6.0* I’ve been playing this game since it released, and more recently (like the past 3 years or so), the same characters have been getting alts on seasonal banners over and over again, mostly characters from Three Houses. I’m so sick of it. And even when its not a Three Houses character getting an alt, its the same characters from all the other games. Chrom, Lucina, Robin, and Tharja from Awakening, Corrin and Camilla from Fates, Lyn from Blazing Blade, Celine, Veyle, and Hortensia from Engage, and so on. I’m so over it! I’m not happy about it! You guys working on this game need to diversify the characters for these seasonal banners. Characters who either haven’t gotten a seasonal alt either at all or only 1 or 2 times should get one. Characters like Nowi, Jakob, Ares, and Citrinne need to get one! I’m so done with the same characters from each game getting all these seasonal alts. I’m sick of it! PLEASE fix your ways game developers. Still great game after all these years; however, this iteration is starting to turn into a regular gatcha game with the power creep every year. Never play with characters from the first couple seasons anymore as they are just so underpowered even completely maxed out. Nintendo should do more to fix this as many have played this game since day 1 and have quite a lot of unused characters now. Weapon refinements on old toons just aren’t up to par with new characters.
