### 2/5 — Unlink devices

*2026-01-22, version 1.1.9*

Unable to unlink or remove a device that is no longer required

### 3/5 — Ok

*2025-12-09, version 1.1.9*

Not easy to setup.

Had to phone for clarity.

(If you don’t label and add the location as you setup each device, you will probably need to start again)

- Does seem to work ok on silicon Macs
- rather a pity it doesn’t work on Apple Watches too.

I can’t help wondering whether they need to collect that much personal data

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2025-05-25, version 1.1.6*

Bought fire angel alarms to replace my fantastic nest protect which are no longer approved in Scotland. Set up alarms with no issues and then connected them to the Alexa app. Found all alarms straight away and the test function seems to work first time of trying. We will find out if the cancel function works with first alarm.

### 1/5 — Hopeless

*2025-05-17, version 1.1.6*

Hangs on the register-an-account dialogue. Thankfully I tried this before purchasing any products that need it. Would give zero stars if that was possible

### 1/5 — App is almost useless

*2024-10-15, version 1.1.6*

Trouble setting up even with support on the phone talking through things.
The app doesn’t properly refresh when “un-learning” and needs a way to delete sensors that hang around even though reset.
Also needs a way to forcibly reset a gateway so that it can be reconfigured when the install goes wrong.
Overall a good idea but very poorly implemented and with no significant updates or improvement seemingly being made in the last year or two.
At this rate I will send all the units back to FireAngel and buy a different brand that is capable of working in a smart home environment properly.

### 3/5 — Is OK

*2024-08-07, version 1.1.6*

Since installing have had no issues with device or app. The other day our CO monitor went into test mode which triggered tests on all the other devices. This happened about every 10 minutes. Couldn't find a way in the app to disable the test mode or remove the device from the system.

Eventually had to resort to disassembling the CO sensor and cutting the internal battery connections to the main board and the connectivity board!

The app now says it has lost contact with the device but there is still no way to say forget about it or delete it. That is just daft. Does that mean when you eventually have to replace a unit all the dead ones remain on the system?

A worrying oversight that does make you question the rest of the system.

### 1/5 — Shocking and dangerous

*2024-07-17, version 1.1.6*

I have 5 smoke and heat detectors which worked fine before I installed the gateway and app. Since installing the app my alarm sounds constantly. The only way I can silence it is by disconnecting 60 % of the detectors from their bases. Thus reducing my fire protection considerably. Unless this is resolved totally via a support call tomorrow I will be looking to return my entire system and try an alternative product.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2024-04-04, version 1.1.6*

Why do you need to take so many personal details to set it up? If you don’t need it for a specific use you shouldn’t take it, otherwise it is in breach of GDPR. Address and phone number should be optional.

Setup was convoluted and not well explained. The red light on the gateway takes ages to light up. If you search for it before that, it says device not found. Then you have to start over and type the whole MAC address again. Even when it did turn red it still failed and had to start again. Maybe add a QR code or scan using the camera feature. Or at the very least, remember the last MAC code you typed! The YouTube videos are too long. Should be quick and to the point of the step you are at. Little circular network button on the devices needs an icon adding or something, it wasn’t very clear from the instructions.

Once finally connected there’s an option to add a location to a device but no way of telling them apart. You can’t make a sound or flash a light to locate the individual device (not that I’ve found anyway).

Doesn’t seem to be a way of removing an individual device. No battery level indicator.

Maybe you should invest in some user testing and make some UX improvements. The 5 second window is a strange decision. How about people with reduced mobility? A better option would be to hold to start mode and press again to cancel.

Had high hopes but very disappointing. Hopefully they work if and when they are needed but it’s not a great first impression. I have lots of smart devices and these are by far the least user friendly.

Bugs: 1) Updating the location on a device doesn’t update the location on the recent events. 2) When on some screens like test network and sound test, the home and navigation buttons don’t work.

Hopefully you can address some of these issues in an update and I will revise my rating

### 1/5 — Unable to register

*2024-02-21, version 1.1.6*

Tried to register but keeps asking to put password in after supposedly been registered and then doesn’t recognise it after email confirmation of registration.

### 2/5 — Useless Sound Testing

*2023-11-30, version 1.1.6*

I have installed this app on my iPad and it finds ALL my devices.

However, trying to have the system test activate the alarms and get them to produce a sound seems IMPOSSIBLE.

Every device on the system HAS been recognised by the app.

NONE of the actual alarms will produce a sound when requested to do so via the app. They only do so by pressing a physical button on each alarm or by activation via the remote control unit.

In my humble opinion the app IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE as you CANNOT initiate a sound test via it.

Also the GATEWAY is the UNLY device that’s status is transmitted via email. This only happens if the system loses power.

From a health and safety perspective, this app CANNOT test the whole installed system as it ONLY shows a list of the devices that are on the network.

I have been using this app since I installed my alarm system. I recently uninstalled, then re-downloaded and re-installed the app hoping that by doing this I could get the system to do a sound test. IT DIDN’T WORK.

I have alarms that are interlinked and are sounding a warning but no indication of what is causing the beeping is being shown on the app at all.

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish!

*2023-11-13, version 1.1.6*

Bought the Fireangel Gateway and Control Panel to connect to my alarms. I can’t even pass the registration page as the App doesn’t work. It doesn’t even work at that stage so why should I trust? Waste!

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2023-11-06, version 1.1.6*

Can’t login. Absolutely rubbish.

### 1/5 — Stuck

*2023-08-15, version 1.1.6*

The save button was dead, after divulging way more of my personal details than I wanted to. Why exactly do you need my 'phone number and full address for me to connect MY devices to MY network and control them from MY 'phone? If the app does what it says it does, I shouldn't need outside interference or oversight. But, as I say, the save button lights up when you tap it and nothing changes. So I didn't get to read the terribly boring legal agreement I was promised would come next.
In the old days, you used to install something and use it straight away. Nowadays you have to go through hoops and the company owns your soul. If you can get the app to work, that is.

### 2/5 — Unable to Register

*2023-07-25, version 1.1.6*

Unable to Register on the app. Email verified but can’t get any further than putting details in. A bit of a shame as in theory a good idea.

### 1/5 — Unable to register my account

*2023-03-19, version 1.1.5*

The app keeps freezing and no response after I enter all my details for my account registration. I can't even use it! Please fix it as soon as possible!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Most Rubbish App Ever

*2026-07-25, version 1.1.9*

Considering FireAngel are responsible for monitoring fire I can not believe how bad this App is. I can only get 1 alarm showing and you cannot delete it or add any others. Complete reboots, removing alarm etc - mind if it works. They seem to know it's rubbish in the support office. Do not buy the pro service.

### 1/5 — Terrible software, terrible hardware, terrible customer service.

*2026-03-21, version 1.1.9*

Devices lose connection regularly; devices don’t show in the app when they should; devices show in the app connected to AC power when they shouldn’t (when holding the device in my hand off-base it’ll show as connected to AC power); when testing the alarm the mute buttons don’t work so the alarm sounds forever until you physically pull them all off the base (I have multiple devices and I have to put the ladder up to remove each one); the only way to connect them is to sound the alarm, which causes the above problem each time; the alarm sounded once when I was out and didn’t turn off for 8 hours, disturbing my neighbours all day until got home and pulled them off the ceiling physically (every single one); I called customer service to ask for a solution and they just read the manual to me, then put me on hold when I said I’d followed the manual, then the line mysteriously cut out.

I shall be returning every device and asking for a refund.

### 1/5 — Poor service

*2026-03-05, version 1.1.9*

The app is not helpful as is FireAngel themselves. The app had worked ok but a recent problem hasn’t been resolved, the “help service” took nearly a week to get a very basic response. I tried to follow the limited advice but the app reinstall hasn’t helped and I still have the same issue. Not impressed.

### 1/5 — Lacks long term stability

*2026-02-10, version 1.1.9*

After installing and using for 1.5 years, all of a sudden the gateway is offline and can’t be fixed. It’s installed in a loft in a holiday home so the issue must be software update related or poor hardware. Either way if you need something for remote locations, this is not the solution

### 1/5 — What a heap of pooh

*2025-11-15, version 1.1.9*

Having spent a fortune on these products, the app is a joke - can’t even register the account without multiple glitches!

### 1/5 — Does not inspire confidence

*2025-09-11, version 1.1.9*

All effort seems to have gone into forcing the customer to enter as much contact information as possible (including bizarrely asking you to enter your email address twice - the second time after you’ve already had to confirm it via an email link) while attempting to disclaim away all possible liability in their ridiculously long terms and conditions as well as claiming that said personal data is “required” in order to operate their service - which is not true.

The data collection is even more concerning considering this company has been acquired by another company outside UK/Europe.

I’m forgiving of apps that are in need of improvement if there is evidence of an effort to actually improve them, but the broken link mentioned in a previous review is still there, the onerous and unnecessary collection of GDPR protected personal data is still there despite another comment about this a year ago and the newly added “delete account” button is described as “flagging your account for deletion” as soon as you click it, but actually it just pre-populates an email for you to manually send (in my case, in the wrong email app on my phone - basically meaning I couldn’t actually request deletion using that button).

There’s also the weird “Predict” feature that you can toggle on/off but there is no mention of what this actually does.

Like another commenter, I was about to invest in a number of FireAngel smoke/heat/CO alarms but thought I’d check the app first based on the other reviews. I’m not so sure I will now.

### 1/5 — I just know this isn’t gonna work out well

*2025-08-31, version 1.1.8*

Right from the beginning after downloading this app… it’s so clunky!!! Certainly does not live up to the reputation of the FireAngel device’s here in the UK. The apps registration form is not very mobile friendly. What’s really shocking is the link on the app, ‘Haven’t Got A Gateway?’, I presumed for further assistance, goes to a placeholder on GoDaddy! Yep, their domain is for sale and has no content!!!What a load of rubbish.

### 1/5 — Terrible app gives no impression that they should get all the data they ask for

*2025-07-05, version 1.1.7*

Not sure why it takes half an hour to get through a login process that comes from the 1990s, nor why they think they need a phone number and house address. Once you give them all this, the app crashes. This is antique IT and the whole product suite is decades out of date. A truly terrible experience. Once eventually, it all gets set up, the only way to tell which alarm is which is to take one off a base, which them floods your phone with alerts even long after the app has seen there is no longer an alert. Truly terrible.

### 1/5 — Seriously

*2025-06-03, version 1.1.6*

No option to change WiFi password or email address?

### 1/5 — Push notifications

*2025-05-22, version 1.1.6*

Not receiving push notifications on iPhone only email ones. Tried everything to fix it and waiting on a response from customer support

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Lacks long term stability

*2025-11-27, version 1.1.9*

After installing and using for 1.5 years, all of a sudden the gateway is offline and can’t be fixed. It’s installed in a loft in a holiday home so the issue must be software update related or poor hardware. Either way if you need something for remote locations, this is not the solution

### 5/5 — Sceptical at 1st but this is a really descent App and Part 6 UK interlinked Smoke alarm system.

*2025-10-08, version 1.1.9*

After seeing the single 1 star review I was sceptical & worried to begin with, I’m a Fire & Security engineer and I have set up one of the Fire Angel Pro Wi-Safe 2 systems for a residential customer with 7 devices connected to the Fire Angel Connected App, my best advice is to set up the ethernet / wi-safe 2 hub first, once you have set up an account and verified it & then subsequently logged in and inputted the MAC address of the hub it will link you to a very clear & well explained YouTube installation instructions video, do this 1st and follow the instructions and you will find that the entire installation, pairing and set up process will go a lot smoother, also as you add devices make sure to give them their description as they appear after you have added them (takes a few seconds to appear) rather than adding them all one after the other and then having to guess & then verify and then re edit which devices are which ? all in all I believe it is a very useful and functional system the remote test & hush button is also very useful for elderly people as one single button push tests all devices on the system simultaneously front one single test point, there is also good information from the App about system health, a detailed system log, notifications of device heads being removed from their bases, battery health etc etc
albeit that the reporting side is not a BS5839-1 approved communication path / system in the event of mains power failure on the broadband router side (a UPS installed at the broadband router could help to improve this somewhat) although it is not a critical path as we already know it clearly states this safety information within the instruction manual and video but it will still however function as a BS5839-6 interlinked smoke alarm system to alert persons within the property of smoke heat or CO detection depending on which devices are fitted.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2024-01-29, version 1.1.6*

So I bought a set of devices including Gateway in January 2024. Replacing my old fire angel set up which did not have any app connectivity et cetera.
I read the reviews before downloading the app, but I thought I would try anyway.
In short, I worked perfectly for me with the exact exception of my device not getting Internet connection which turned out to be my firewall. However, a quick call to customer services through the app number resolved this in about five minutes.

The app after a set up works perfectly well as well. My only comment would be that you need to have a little bit of understanding to go through and watch the YouTube video. The video does explain better than the instructions I feel.

### 5/5 — Good App once past sign-up screen

*2023-11-25, version 1.1.6*

I was concerned by the comments on the App so gave FireAngel a call on their support line to ensure that the App was still being supported. Call was queued and after 5 mins was answered by an UK agent. I was assured the App was still supported.
During the sign up, I did encounter the ‘Unable to save’ issue on the first screen - the App seems to be fussy about the postcode which I had to enter in lowercase with no spaces before I could proceed with the save. Once I was past that the rest went according to the setup video and was straightforward.
App does what I want: notifications on the phone when an alarm is detected and record of all events in a log.

### 5/5 — Good system

*2023-03-16, version 1.1.5*

Compelled to write a good review after seeing so many negative ones. I spent ~£300 on a gateway and 6 assorted alarms for our terraced house.

The set-up was seamless, just laid them out on the table and paired the lot in 5 minutes then screwed them onto the ceilings. Several months later the system is functioning fine.

We’ve had a a few power outages and the net has gone down a few times, but the system just picks itself up again after a warning email and a notification on the iPhone. I don’t understand why the other reviewers have had trouble getting the system to reconnect.

The only issue I had was that the app icon showed up twice on my iPad for some reason, so I just reinstalled it and it picked everything up again immediately. Easy.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2023-03-15, version 1.1.5*

I had to register with the app/service over the mobile network as I don’t think the app liked my firewall. Once that was done adding the alarms to the app was a breeze and it’s been working fine since.

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2022-05-02, version 1.1.3*

I'm not sure all the bad reviews are warranted. Maybe this have been improved on the app.

Once I found the YouTube video to follow I found it quite straightforward to set up the app and then name each device. I now know that if the alarms go off at my mum's place I'll be aware.

### 5/5 — Using it to monitor own home plus a parent’s house

*2022-03-14, version 1.1.3*

The previous reviewer must be doing something wrong. I found the setup simple, by following the printed instructions in the device boxes and then the instructions in the App setup. Took all of two hours to mount, connect wirelessly and then link to the app all the alarms in a four bed house. So excellent tech imho.

### 5/5 — Simple install

*2022-01-07, version 1.1.3*

Not sure why there’s so many negative reviews because I found the install process to be simple. Maybe the App has been updated recently?

I installed the gateway first and configured the App using the gateway MAC address as per the instructions. I then linked a smoke alarm with a heat alarm, and then linked the heat alarm with the gateway. All done by following the instructions in the App.

I gave each device a location before linking each further device one-by-one. Each device appeared in the App as soon as they were linked, and I made sure to give each a location before moving onto the next device (to avoid having multiple devices of the same type and not knowing which was which).

I installed 2 smoke alarms , 1 heat alarm and 3 CO alarms, and had them all linked and tested within a couple of hours.

### 5/5 — Works as expected.

*2021-10-21, version 1.1.2*

Using version 1.1.2. (37)

Created a new account.
Registered a gateway.
Added the gateway to my existing network of 4 smoke, 1 heat and 2 CO alarms.

No issues everything worked as expected.
