The desktop and screensaver both work very well and the user interface is clean and simple. The hot coals have a beautiful vivid red/orange glow that really does feel warming. The fire sounds are also soothing. Things I would like to see improved in future versions: - Better range of inhancements in the paid version (I found the free version is really just as good as the paid one); - I would like to see an addition of a video mode, where the fireplace video would keep the display awake so that you can enjoy it for longer without having to change system energy saver preferences (note that the system screensaver and display sleep over-ride the fireplace screensaver) - ideallly you could specify whether or not to keep the display/computer awake and for how long; - I would also like to see better grate and mantle designs and at least one more fire model to choose from in the paid version (current mantle designs look a bit fake) - The crackling sounds are a bit fake so could be improved (at the moment I just use the fire sounds and switch the crackle sounds off) ### 5/5 — Fireplace 3D is so beautiful! *2014-01-17, version 2.1.0* I have mine set as a Victorian fireplace and it is so beautiful. The fire sounds and looks very realistic. I always have this on when I’m in a quiet room. I am able to think better as I work on my assignments, because it the sound of the fire crackles helps reduce the disturbing ringing and buzzing in my ears. This 3D fireplace is worth having. It is so very soothing and visually beautiful! Just to let you know, it is compatible with iMac’s newest OS Mavericks. ### 5/5 — Now I Have a Fireplace in my Apartment *2013-12-20, version 2.1.0* I cannot be more pleased with this application. I live in a very small 200 square foot apartment, so there was no way the builders were going to install a fireplace here. It is excellent. In future versions though, I would recommend a greater variety of mantels and grates. Think of gothic, tudor, medieval (think of being able to hang pots over the fire/roast meat on a spit), ingle-nook, ultra-modern, stove, outdoors, georgian, log cabin etc. Would be cool. So I darkened the screen, set it to last an hour and a half, and went to bed. IT KNOCKS ME OUT COLD! My wife can't believe Im falling asleep before her. We hope you can include CRICKETS in future upgrades. However, (please excuse the pun here and this is not a joke) this is the first screensaver that has caused burn-in on my imac screen. I have used other Planesoft products for a few years with no issues. With darker shades of wallpaper you can see the outline of the fireplace and the logs. It took about a week to notice the burn-in. I will be contacting Apple to discuss a replacement screen. I love this app, it’s detailed, beautiful, realistic, I love the options for sound and visuals. Also love the option for screen saver mode. You wont regret paying for the full features if you love fireplaces.
