The most common cause of this is having your mute switch on. If your phone is muted it won’t play sounds even if your volume is up. There is no goal and no purpose. It would be more fun for me if this was some sort of clicker game with a monetary system and goals. Also, this app says there are backgrounds, but because there is no tutorial, I have no clue as to how to change it. Many people have found the simplicity of the app enjoyable, but I can understand that this did not meet your expectations.
