I predominantly use this app to read before bed & it is SO bright despite my phone being in dark mode. ### 4/5 — Text is too small *2026-01-23, version 3.33.1* The app works well overall, but the text is really tiny. My phone is set to use larger text but this app is not one that adjusts to that setting, and there is not a setting within the app to change the font size or zoom in either. ### 3/5 — Disappointed that it’s now restricted and requires sign up *2025-12-05, version 3.33.0* When I first got this app, I loved it. It was open access other than making comments or asking questions about a study. If you wanted feedback and discussion, you could sign up. I didn’t have to create an account to view the whole study, such that if I missed a day, I could go back and review what I missed, or I could go back to a day that I wanted to spend more time with. I could see previous studies, so I could do additional devotions on my own. I love having something short and concise that gets my day off to a good start. I am an extremely busy person with almost no sit down time during my typically 18-20 hour day. Now, they have restricted all access except to the current day of study. If you miss a day, and you want to see it, sorry, you have to give them your information and create an account and sign in. I won’t do it. I don’t want an account. I don’t want things coming to my inbox. I don’t want to have yet another password to deal with. I can’t recommend it anymore. ### 2/5 — Where is the font size? *2025-11-18, version 3.33.0* Before it was so good that this app is my favorite. Now I can’t font the bigger A option that makes the font larger. Come on, the writers are middle aged women and the readers are as well. Please consider our reading eye sight. We are in the last week of the 30 Bible Verses… Study and I get a blank screen when I try to open the app after the most recent update. I guess I won’t get to finish it with my study buddy unless she reads it all to me. I don’t understand why it’s not updating like it does on the phone. I would love to use this app with a dark mode setting (the glaringly bright white of the app hurts my eyes) so it’d be nice to have the option to change it to dark mode. Whenever I go into notifications and the. Read comments and responses I have to close the app because I can’t get out of the section (hard to explain). It’s been very helpful when I do my devotions in the evenings, but please made a dark mode. I love the ability to be able to save notes, to include my personal notes. However, within the last couple of months, one of the features that I love is not functioning properly. When i click on a verse(s) to save and then choose the graphic option, the graphic will quickly pop up and then disappear. So, unfortunately, I cannot add a graphic to the text as I was able to do so many times before, which made it so nice and easy to save and share. Doesn’t have to be the main page, bc I do like seeing other options and reading something else every now and then. But on the “My Plans” page, I’d like to customize it a bit. I’m trying to read through the Bible chronologically and this makes it difficult. Also, some of the plans are not listed correctly following the order of the Bible or just appear in a weird order, even if they’re not a topical study. I.e. Matthew appears listed in the middle of the Old Testament books… ### 4/5 — Need a “start plan” button *2025-01-29, version 3.32.3* I like the premise of the app, but not necessarily the day to day function of it. I LOVE that historical plans can be gone back through. However only the current plan shows up when opening the app. I’d rather have a “start plan” option and have whatever I select show up as the current plan instead of just opening to whatever plan P31 has selected for the time. Not every plan is the best fit for each person which is what makes having the historical plans so nice, just need to set up the app differently to allow for the best use of that. ### 3/5 — Great content - buggy app *2024-11-11, version 3.32.3* Recently been having issues opening the app first thing in the morning. All my other apps work fine on my phone except this one - I get an error message saying “no connection.” App is up to date as well. Been happening for the last 3-4 days. ### 4/5 — Update caused issues *2024-06-07, version 3.32.2* It seems an update may have caused a couple of technical issues. First, some paragraphs in a lesson are repeating as many as three times. Second, the highlight option has changed. I used to be able to just highlight one sentence at a time in a lesson but now almost a whole paragraph underlines to highlight. If I highlight that whole paragraph, the sentence I want to stand out, won’t stand out! Otherwise, I love this app and the lessons! ### 3/5 — I like the app, but it needs work. *2024-04-12, version 3.32.1* Aesthetically pleasing and calm vibes come from this app, but I have encountered a few issues and have some suggestions. I reached out to customer service and Angie clarified a few things - the 'current plan' is the one that will show upon opening the app and when clicking the 'First 5' button on the bottom toolbar, however wish that wasn't the case. I feel it would be more beneficial for the plan that shows upon app opening should be the one the user is currently following. The current plan isn't relative to me at this moment and feel that in order to keep the app as close to the heart as possible it should allow for more customization. The app also defaults to the ESV, but it would be a lot more user friendly if all throughout the app the version displayed would be the one selected in the options menu rather than the pre-selected one. Again, takes away from the customization feel of it all. Lastly, the app is glitchy! Sometimes I come to a white, blank screen and other times the app is far outstretched to where the wording is cut off. I have to force close and reopen that app to try and load it correctly; I shouldn't have to restart my entire device as suggested. So, it's safe to say that the app needs stabilization and am considering deleting and possibly redownloading at a later time. I genuinely enjoy the feel of the app and am hopeful for fixes, but it's too wonky at the moment. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t get past the first page *2025-06-05, version 3.32.4* I would love to give it any kind of a review, but there is this spinny wheel that keeps going around and around and won’t stop to allow me to move about the app. Please fix it so I can change my review. Now, with the latest update, the app will not work on my iPad. I contacted First 5 a couple of weeks ago. They said they were aware of the problem. It still is not working. Maybe they could just drop the previous update. The problem is, My Moments do not display in my own profile unless I am posting in the current study that the group, First Five, is doing. They are my moments, intimate moments with God that I can't review for my own growth. Is this the purpose of this app? Personally growth in my relationship with God? Or is it to just be doing the current study? There are so many good studies and it is a shame that what is personal ins not important just need to conform to what the works or First Five want you to do... This kind of goes against the premise of First Five, right? I love that I can get another breakdown of the scripture that I may have not absorbed. App is functional and savvy. I do have one suggestion though. For the hyperlinked verses, it would be nice if we could scroll in the pop up so that we can read the full scripture linked without leaving the page. This way we never lose our place. When you leave into the bible page and come back to the lesson of the day it starts back at the beginning of the page, causing you to have to search for where you were.
