## What is First Stride?

First Stride speaks your intervals, so you can keep your eyes up and your phone in your pocket.

If you've been meaning to get off the couch and train for a 5K, this is the plan to do it with.

At every transition it says "Run" and "Walk" out loud. At the midpoint of a run it says "Halfway there." You never have to watch the screen or count anything.

When a cue plays, First Stride briefly lowers whatever you're listening to, then brings it back. It works with Spotify, Apple Music, podcasts — anything. There's nothing to connect and nothing to set up.

The plan

Nine weeks, three runs a week, 27 workouts. Every run opens with a five-minute brisk-walk warm-up, then alternates running and walking. The run intervals stretch a little each week until you're running for 30 minutes straight. The walk breaks aren't a consolation prize — they're what makes the plan work.

On your wrist

There's a real native Apple Watch app, not a mirrored screen. Start a run on the Watch and leave your phone at home, or use both together — either device can start, and they stay in sync. The Watch shows heart rate, calories, distance, and pace, taps you at every interval change, and the Digital Crown adjusts the volume of whichever device is doing the talking.

Pick a voice

First Stride's own voice speaks your cues. You can switch to Coach Anabel or Coach Richard in Settings, and preview each one before you run.

What you get

- Spoken "Run" and "Walk" cues at every interval change
- "Halfway there." at the midpoint
- Your music or podcast dips for each cue, then comes back
- Native Apple Watch app — heart rate, calories, distance, pace
- A haptic tap on the Watch at every transition
- Start from either device; progress stays in sync
- Keeps running in the background with the screen off
- Saves every workout to Apple Health, toward your activity rings
- GPS route of outdoor runs, from iPhone or Apple Watch
- Run history with the detail of every session
- Your place in the plan follows you across your devices via iCloud
- Jump to any week and day to repeat a session
- Optional warm-up and cool-down, interval minutes on the ring, Light or Dark
- Works offline
- No account, no servers, no ads, no analytics, no tracking

Simple pricing

First Stride is free to download, with a 14-day free trial — everything unlocked. The trial clock starts on your first run, not on install, so you can look around first. After that, one purchase keeps the app yours forever. No subscription, nothing to cancel.

First Stride is a training plan, not medical advice. If you have a health condition or haven't exercised in a long while, talk to a doctor before you start.
