I'm so disappointed. $9.99 down the drain. When you put it on the iPad and enlarge it to fit the screen (as shown on the developers website in a video) the app gets very blurry and distorted. Additionally, it crashes A LOT. I'd really appreciate it if this developer would actually make it iPad friendly instead of falsely advertising it as being ok to use with the iPad. I feel deceived and cheated. The app is great on iPhone... So I guess I'll give it 3 stars for that. If they hadn't lied about it being ok with iPad I would have given it 5. ### 4/5 — First Then Visual Schedules *2011-08-05, version 1.1.5* This is a brilliant app. So easy to create and edit schedule when you have one spare minute or on the go. Fast personal feeling to pictures which is invaluable. Support prompt and specifically responsive. Good website with video tutorials. One star short as no print feature yet. Small charge well worth it. Well done! ### 5/5 — Simple and Intuitive! *2011-06-08, version 1.1.3* This app is very intuitive to use and simple enough for students to participate in constructing their schedules. The graphics are great, even in full-screen mode on the iPad, and the different ways of viewing the schedule will be very useful. The option to load pictures from the built-in library, stored photo library, or directly from Google makes it very easy to add picture support. The audio support is a great feature and simple enough for students to use. It's also nice to be able to check items as complete (in Settings). I found it a little difficult to locate the "full size" option which you have to select for adding pics directly from Google as the option only flashes for an instant in the upper right hand corner. I would like to add pictures and audio to items on the home screen so that my students could be even more independent, but I haven't discovered a way to do that on the iPad even though it shows pics on the home page in the screen shot above. But overall I like this app very much. My 7 year old son (with down syndrome) knows what is expected without my constant prompts. He is obviously feeling more independent using this app and as a result our lives are going much more smoothly. My typical 9 year old daughter thinks this is much better than a nagging mom too. Soooo recommend ### 3/5 — More editing abilities needed *2011-04-29* I like that you can use images from my personal computer as well as from the Internet, so there are many options for personalizing schedules. However, I am not able to rearrange the order of steps/activities once the schedule is created. I am a therapist and have a schedule for a few of my kiddos consisting of typical toys, activities, and equipment that we use in their sessions. I like to have flexibility as to in what order those activities occur in our sessions and give them say at the beginning of the session as to in what order we will do what. A quicker way to rearrange steps would make this app golden! ### 3/5 — Great Idea but needs a few changes!!! *2011-04-07, version 1.1.2* I have been using this app in my SPED classroom. My students don't have enough control to move the picture/schedule tasks one at a time - it rolls through the whole schedule. If they would change it so the picture would only one at a time with a swipe it would be fantastic and be a great assets to students with special needs. ### 5/5 — Fantastic *2011-04-04, version 1.1.2* I can't believe there are no reviews on here. This app and all of Good Karma apps are wonderful. This, My Choice Board, and especially Scene Speak are amazing. Awesome customer support as well. All definitely worth the buy. Kid I am using this with is well on his way to independence in getting ready for school and bed time. ### 4/5 — Great visual schedule app *2011-03-07, version 1.1* This app has been really great for use with children with ASD. It is a simple to use app...it takes about 15 minutes to set up a new schedule! I like having the option to change the view (so I could see either one, two or all the steps at once). It's also nice to be able to record sound to go with the steps! Additionally, the developer is wonderful to work with and very open to feedback! Finally, I've had no trouble using the app on my iPad by just hitting the 2X button at the bottom of the screen. ### 3/5 — On the right path *2011-02-03, version 1.1* I am a BCBA and I'm deciding on apps to use with my clients. I like the simplicity of this app, and would have given it 5 stars if it had these three improvements: A way to 'uncheck' a task if it was inadvertantly checked w/o having to exit the schedule. A way to embed video clips into the scheduler. A way to layer the icon so that selecting it takes you to a task analysis of the activity. (I.e. you select 'brush teeth' and the sequential steps for brushing teeth could be accessed, once all steps are complete, the app takes you back to the original schedule) Just a thought! However, for kids who are high-functioning and don't necessarily need the extra guidance, this is great! ***FYI I use this app on both my iPad and iPod Touch.*** ### 4/5 — If only it would schedule (set times) *2011-02-02, version 1.1* I thought this app was an actual scheduler, meaning that times could be set so that the prompts would start automatically. If I'm wrong about this please let me know. Other than that the fact that you can take actual pictures and add your on voice to it is a plus, it makes my son recognize the familar pictures more so than just general pictures. Add the functunality of setting times and this app would be Awesome. ### 3/5 — Would love a rewards feature *2011-01-25, version 1.1* The app is great for producing schedules and helping the child stay focused. It would be nice to have a feature which allows you to then track progress/give a reward (either a stock reward like a star or smiley, or one of your choosing). Like with the check marks, this feature could be turned on or off to suit the user's needs. Right now I have this app for routines, and another to keep track of progress in following them. A bit confusing for me and likely too confusing for my special needs son. I also wish the opening music could be disabled - it's kind of like a warning that I'm arriving with the list... ### 5/5 — Good app for beginners!! *2011-01-13, version 1.1* Great starter app for a non-techie mom. I just need to refine a few personal photos and get a little bit more comfortable, this app is really useful and practical. Such a bummer. ### 2/5 — Skip It for Your iPad *2011-05-26, version 1.1.3* While this app is compatible with an iPad, it is certainly NOT worth a $9.99 price point for your iPad. Visually, it's anticlimactic and difficult to use as a motivator when compared to other iPad apps. Enlarging the screen to more easily view the photos, etc. only makes them blurry and more difficult to recognize. If you're strictly working with a smaller iPhone or iTouch, you'll be more happy visually, but I'd still question the price point. The same review applies to the "My Choice Board" app. I think the concepts are outstanding and potentially great educational tools, but until they're designed to work at their full potential on an iPad, I'd spend my $10 elsewhere. ### 2/5 — Not for iPad *2011-01-24, version 1.1* Please update to make this app fully compatible with iPad. Please update. ### 3/5 — Works OK with some bugs on iPad 2 & on 3rd generation iTouch *2012-02-11, version 1.1.5* I designed a schedule for my daughter who is severly autistic. I did the design on my iPad and exported it to her iTouch. I had problems with the file sharing as you can not import a entire folder into the File Sharing on iTunes, so I had to import the individual files. It worked ok for the first round, but I dont know how future revisions will work out. I had problems with it creating multiple image and sound files. I wish it would use the text that accompanied the image. Also, it would be nice to be able to add a step in the middle of a routine. As it is now I had to replace the next step, then redo all of the steps in the file. So make sure you have everything organized before you start. I'll write down the schedule first, then develope it. I have reviewed the support, but the application did not function as shown. It did not show buttons in the edit screen to allow me to move the steps around. Also, it did not bring up the import screen, but just pulled in the schedule. I will probably end up deleting the app on the iTouch then reinstalling it and adding the new schedule each time from scatch to keep it from generating multiple copies of each step in the image and sound files. Also, if the check off feature is enabled, it turns off the sound bites and you have to uncheck each step the next time you look at it. It would be nice if you could keep the sound bites and there was a reset the checks button on the schedule to get the schedule ready for it's next use. Still it's a good app, but needs some tweeking by the developer. Perhaps just needs updating for the current iOS as I am using iOS 5. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great app! *2015-03-29, version 1.1.6* I just bought this app and already I simply love it! I'm an autism teacher and can make schedules on other software, but this app makes it so easy and quick to do. It interfaces with you photos and with Google images and allows you to record. Plus you can send a pdf file! I will use this both for my son and for my classroom! ### 5/5 — GREAT App For Everyday Use! *2013-03-13, version 1.1.6* I purchased this app to have a portable, multifunctional "First Then" tool for my 5 year old, who is impacted by Autism. This app met and exceeded my expectations, and the addition of the visual schedule makes difficult transitions in public settings far easier to endure. We've been able to ditch the cumbersome PECS now, and my little guy enjoys using the iPod to navigate through his daily activities. This app is almost unbelievably affordable too for the functionality and versatility it brings to the user (VERY user friendly!). The developer has answered my questions personally through email (I tend to be a little technically challenged, ha!) and is incredibly friendly when replying to my questions. Thank you, Good Karma, for yet another amazing app (I purchased My Choices previously with incredible success). I also like the choice if you do this then you get this. Our teacher at school has a pec card at school that says this same thing. No longer do we have to carry pecs we can make one on the iPod touch immediately! I'm using an iPad2 and we love this app more each time we find another use. I found it makes a wonderful visual shopping list for our children, one with ASD, to help keep them occupied while we shop. I'm always looking for new ways to use it. We got it when it first came out and it's the only app we've consistently used. I was thrilled to find out there was sound on it when we upgraded our iPod from 1st gen to 3rd gen and then to use it on our iPad has just been even better. Our photos aren't blurry and I haven't had it crash once. So far we use it for a schedule, first-then board, social stories and now a shopping list. I can't wait to see what else we can get out of this app. Aug 13, 2010 - I like it. More importantly, my son (3 yrs) will try and use it. He isn't into techie gadgets. I've been looking for something that loads quickly, does what you need and you can move on. Our special needs son doesn't have the patience to wait while we go through menus nor do we have the time afterwards. We needed something that simply showed him what he needed to do and was very easy to create a new list on the fly. It was also great to use as a social story creator about flying on an airplane for our trip. Definitely recommend to anyone who needs a reliable, easy-to-use app to help with transitioning or communication. ### 5/5 — Perfect for kids with special needs *2011-07-31, version 1.1.5* We just started using this app with our daughter (12) who has down syndrome, and it's been a huge hit already! We made schedules for the morning and night, and are planning to make schedules for her scholastic work too. She loves being in charge of her to do list, and the List Mode is the perfect combo of textual instructions she can read with pictures for visual cues. We use it with the check list so she can tick off what she's done. Previous reviews mentioned that you cannot change the order of the list items. This must have changed, because you can now change the order. When in Edit Mode, click the minus sign at the top, then move the bars on the right of each list item to sort. On the downside, the app crashes (though info is still saved) when you try to load pictures more than once or twice. And when you use the checklists, touching the picture removes the check, which makes it nearly impossible to use when in the Full Mode. But both of these are minor issues. It's a great app and we already realize this is going to be one of our most used applications! ### 5/5 — Upgrades are great! *2011-06-26, version 1.1.5* I love this program for my son with autism. I create routine schedules which he follows through out his day. For example his morning routine has getting dressed, brushing teeth etc. I can add audio clips from some of his faviorite cartoons that relate to what he is doing, so he is motivated to do the schedule. This has increased my son's independence and involvement considerably. I am looking foward to future programs. I highly recommend this program for children on the specturm that are motivated by electronics, like my son.
