## What is First Whistle?

First Whistle is the operations platform for the people who keep community sports running — league managers, coaches, players, and the parents behind every player.

Schedules, rosters, RSVPs, venues, results, and family communication, all in one place.

FOR LEAGUE MANAGERS
• Manage divisions, teams, venues, officials, and game results
• Publish changes on the fly and keep coaches and teams in the know

FOR COACHES
• One clear calendar of practices and games for your team
• Track attendance with one-tap email RSVPs — parents don't even need to log in
• Message families without sharing personal contact info

FOR PARENTS & PLAYERS
• Always free for players and parents
• See where to be and when, with reminders before every event
• RSVP for your player in one tap, straight from your inbox

Youth and adult rec leagues alike — if a whistle starts the game, First Whistle runs the season.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.17 — 2026-09-15

Snack sign-up, right where the game is

The game card now links straight to the sign-up instead of hiding it — tap a game and it's there. Saying what you're bringing is optional, so you can put your name down now and decide later. Plans changed? One tap takes you back off the list.

A Volunteers tab for your team

Every upcoming game that still needs someone, in one list, with a dot on the tab while something is open — so you don't have to open each game to find out what's covered.

Both parents see the same RSVP

If you share a child with another parent, you now both see the current answer for that child instead of each guessing. And if your coach typed your email onto the roster before you signed up, your own RSVPs work properly now.

Team chat tells you when there's something to read

A post in your team's chat sends you one notification saying who posted — a push if you have the app, otherwise an email — and tapping it opens the chat. It never includes the message itself, and you won't be nudged again for that team until you've read it.

A new Help centre

Step-by-step guides for the things people ask about most: creating a team, finding your child's team, building a roster, and how scheduling works.

Sign in with Face ID or Touch ID

The app now locks with biometrics instead of signing you out when you've been away. Your session is protected without making you type your password at the field.

Also in this release

• Choose exactly who gets an invite when you add players, instead of emailing everyone on the roster
• A parent without a phone number no longer blocks the whole roster save
• More accurate baseball stats — plate appearances, RBIs and batting averages all count the way they should, and the app warns you when two people are scoring the same game
• League managers can rename teams, change colours and age groups, delete a season to start over, and message their coaches directly
• Double-elimination playoff brackets, including the grand-final reset
• Copyable links to a game, the opponent shown on away games, and shutouts you can actually save
• A tidier Messages inbox that scrolls properly and lets you filter when you're on several teams
• Fewer duplicate notifications, and same-day cancellations that actually go out same day

### 1.0.16 — 2026-09-05

Keeping score just got a lot better.

SCORING
• Score a whole game from one screen, with the pitch counter and the outcome buttons together in thumb reach.
• New outcomes: fielder's choice, stolen bases and caught stealing, and a one-tap double play.
• Pinch hitters and pinch runners, without leaving the scoring screen.
• Didn't see the play? "Don't know" now lets you record what you did see — the outs, who moved up, who scored — instead of guessing.
• Games end on their own at the regulation innings or a mercy rule, and you can call one early for time or darkness.
• You'll get a reminder when a pitcher reaches their pitch limit or their planned innings. It never blocks you — keep going if you want to.
• Lock plan now checks you've named a pitcher and a catcher for levels that require them.
• Published a game too early? Open it again, make your corrections, and re-publish. Season stats are corrected, never double-counted.

CALENDAR
• Synced games now show at the right time. They previously appeared shifted by your time zone.
• Adding the team calendar to Google Calendar is now one tap.

TEAM
• A second parent added to a player now gets an invite — before, only the first one did.
• Attendance counts a child once, even when both parents reply.
• Team schedules list upcoming games first, with past games most recent first.
• Fixes to sign-out and notifications.

### 1.0.15 — 2026-08-28

• League managers can now schedule games by picking both teams straight from the league — no more typing opponent names
• Fixed an issue that prevented coaches from editing games under certain conditions
• Standings now update automatically when scores are recorded or corrected
• Games added by hand are assigned to the correct season automatically
• More reliable saving for attendance, cancellations, and event changes
• Bug fixes and stability improvements
