### 4/5 — Family Sharing

*2026-04-22, version 2.0.1*

Great app but subscription does not work with family sharing.

### 3/5 — Not yet impressed

*2026-04-13*

I’m a little sad that there is no option to track the initial tank cycle and that there isn’t a way (or at least not an obvious one) to keep track of plant species and health. The plants are possibly more important to the tank in some situations! I hope I like this app better once I have critters in the tank, but so far I’m not very impressed. I will update after I get to use this thing more.

**Developer response:** Hey John, we do have a large database of plant species (if you click the fish icon when viewing your tank, you can change it to plants/parameters/notes etc); If the features dont cover what you need however, please do use the contact us button in the settings so we can help build anything that our app doesnt cover the needs of! Thanks for your review - fishi team

### 2/5 — Review

*2026-04-02*

It’s a cool app. I would love an option where you could add a photo of the Individual fish

**Developer response:** Great idea, i'll see what can be done for our next update!

### 2/5 — Confused

*2026-02-24, version 1.9.7*

Seems like a nice app, but I can’t figure it out. Maybe I thought it could do things that it isn’t capable of.

### 3/5 — App is decent, but lacks multiuser capabilities.

*2026-02-13*

App is decent, compared to others, I felt the library of fish was better than others. Only thing it lacks for me is multiuser support. My wife and I want to be able to manage our tanks together. If that is an option I couldn’t find it, and support didn’t answer me so canceled before the trial ended. Other than that it’s a good app, if you don’t need multiuser give it a shot!

**Developer response:** Hey Onatscram, thanks for the feedback! Happy to hear you like our species library. For multi user support, totally get it, multiuser support isnt our strong point (it's a WIP). Regarding the support email, just guessing based on the dates of the review, if your intials are MS we did respond on the day explaining the feature (and we turned on an experimental feature for you+your wife to try!) so we think it might've gone into your junk mail.

Thanks a lot for the review! - fishi team

### 4/5 — Annoyed

*2026-01-22, version 1.9.5*

Every day there’s an update or the same update for this app. Not sure why. Annoyed

### 3/5 — 5 Minutes In

*2025-11-30, version 1.9.2*

Kinda hard to write a review 5 minutes in to opening the app.

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2025-09-09*

My only issue is that you have to pay to unlock nearly all the fish it’s very annoying

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your feedback! We understand that it can be frustrating when some features require payment. But honestly, the only way we've been able to keep the app running, pay our server costs, research costs, and continue development all these years, has been through our paid users; the app isnt free to run so at the end of the day we have to cover overhead. Your input is really valuable, and we’ll keep it in mind as we continue updating the app

### 3/5 — Great app-before update

*2025-08-14*

I loved this app. Had everything organized in a simple and straightforward manner. Then the update happened. Less functional and harder to navigate. Lost the ability to change date on events so if I log them on a later date I cannot correct it. Seems like there are less functions now

**Developer response:** Hi Fireblade30, thank you for sharing your feedback; we completely understand how disorienting it can feel when something familiar suddenly changes in software you've been using. We make UI changes only when absolutely necessary, as we know every change comes with a cognitive overhead for long-time users. Our hope is to bring your “loved” back into “actively love.” 💙

In this case, the tank detail views were getting increasingly complex (with six different add pages) and we needed the space for future features, so we unified them with a single floating “+” button in the bottom right. Before making the change, we tested it with a few thousand users — measuring how long it took to complete tasks like adding a fish, logging a parameter, or writing a note — and surveyed participants. The results were strongly in favor of the new approach, so we moved forward.

As for logging historical events, that should be working again by the time you read this. We temporarily disabled it to resolve a crash some users were experiencing, and it’s now available again on the main apps logging page via a new button near the tank selector. So all the functionality you would expect is back.

We hope this helps explain what we were aiming for: a faster, simpler, and more future-proof experience. If there are still ways we’ve missed the mark for you, please reach out through the contact button in the app’s settings — we’d love to hear your thoughts, and how we can make fishi as easy/painless as possible for you to use.

### 4/5 — Handy and Dandy

*2025-08-13*

Just started using this app for my 3 fish tanks, planning a fourth, and it seems awesome! Only thing I could think to suggest was a filter for the encyclopedia where you could pick multiple filters! Like beginner and intermediate and peaceful all at once to show you all the fish that fit in those three categories! A tag system that lets you narrow down your search without having to go through the whole encyclopedia each tag at a time.

**Developer response:** EDIT: This is now possible /// Original Response: Thank you for the great feedback! That’s a fantastic idea, and we’ll be adding it in version 1.8.1; Glad to hear you're loving the app, and good luck on the fourth tank - fishi team

### 2/5 — It’s “Okay”

*2025-08-05*

This does the job of recording key water levels, however the app is somewhat hard to understand. Also, considering that one has to pay a subscription rate (understandable), you think it would make universal the many species of fish that are readily available. This feature is rather generic. I am not totally dissatisfied, but would not recommend this app in consideration that one has to pay a $20 annual subscription fee.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand how important it is for the app to be easy to use and include the species you know. We cover over 99% of the freshwater fish trade, but many species have several local names, which can make them tricky to find. Searching by their scientific (Latin) name usually works best — in fact, most support requests end up being a fish already in Fishi but listed under a different name somewhere in the world. If you ever can’t find a species, just let us know and we can usually research and add it quickly. We appreciate your feedback and are always working to make the app clearer and more helpful.

### 4/5 — Love for most part

*2025-06-22, version 1.7.4*

I love this app. The only thing I don’t like is I can put what kind of filtration I have on the tanks. I bigger filters than what’s required for tanks and that makes a difference

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Small fish list

*2026-06-18, version 2.0.3*

Dowloaded app started to input my fish. I only have 2 fish in my tank so far and only one was in the darabase so app useless for me.

### 1/5 — Wipe my tanks

*2026-04-12, version 1.9.9*

Latest update wiped my tank data. Two years of data tracking, notes, etc, LOST!!!!!

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2026-04-05*

Typical ask to track your data and make you pay for it

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. The app offers optional paid features to support continued development, but the core aquarium tracking tools remain free.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2026-04-05*

Doesn’t have all fish species. Could only put half my tank in the fish list. Once added half of my fish, I was hit with a paywall. Don’t waste your time, rushed app with no real use

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. The app currently includes a database of 1,000+ fish species and has been actively updated for several years based on user feedback and feature requests.

Some features are part of an optional premium tier, which helps support the ongoing development and maintenance of the app. I’m always working to expand the species database, so if there’s a fish missing from your tank feel free to reach out and I can look at adding it in a future update.

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2026-03-04, version 1.9.7*

Pretty much everything useful for a aquarium manager app is behind a paywall

### 1/5 — Paying to add fish is crazy

*2025-11-05*

You have to pay for premium to add specific fish. If you’ve been in the hobby long enough you know how to keep your tanks and this app could potentially help you if you want to pay for it. Absolutely silly to make people pay to add fish to a tank. Adding multiple tanks? I get it cause we are in an age of pay for EVERYTHING, but seriously your app isn’t worth what you’re asking.

**Developer response:** Hi Brandon,
We totally understand where you’re coming from — paying to add fish can feel frustrating, especially for experienced aquarists who just want to log their setups quickly. That said, just under 10% of our species are part of the paid tier, meaning over 90% are completely free to use.
Those premium species help us cover the real costs behind the app — from research and species data to photography, hosting, and ongoing development. We’ve tried hard to keep the core experience free while still supporting the work that keeps the app growing and improving.
Your feedback is appreciated, and we’re actively reviewing how we balance free and premium features to make sure things stay fair and useful for everyone in the hobby.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts and for giving the app a try.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-10-28, version 1.9.0*

Save your time and money. Next to worthless. Pen and paper is a thousand times better than this app. So much potential, so little performance. Worst app I ever paid $.
An insult to iPhone apps.

### 1/5 — Annoyed

*2025-10-19, version 1.8.9*

Every day there’s an update or the same update for this app. Not sure why. Annoyed

### 1/5 — Useless unless paying

*2025-10-17*

Can’t even add the fish I have without paying. Better off and easier using Siri or Alexa as reminders. Waste of my time downloading this app.

**Developer response:** Hi desousa47,
We’re sorry to hear you didn’t have a great experience. Our goal is to make managing your aquarium simple and enjoyable for everyone. The free version lets you explore core features, while the premium upgrade unlocks advanced options like the full fish catalog. However entirely free - our swipe feed, logging, reminders, algae identification, calculators; we could go on - We really appreciate your feedback — it helps us improve. We’ll look into making it clearer what’s included for free versus paid.

But while it may not be obvious to an end user, the app is extremely expensive to run, photographers were paid, software engineers were paid, server costs are high, and paywalling features is the best way for this app to exist - if we incentivise too many users we wouldnt be able to afford our server costs and continue our consistent development that we've had for the last few years.

Thank you for giving the app a try!

### 1/5 — Have to pay to get any use out of it.

*2025-10-13*

Great concept for an app; unfortunately, to get any real use, you need to pay to unlock all the different fish. A better idea might be to have a basic program that you can use to monitor the tank, and perhaps a paid version that provides timed alerts and automated custom maintenance plans, with at least a manual version available for free.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback — we really appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas. We're glad you like the concept of the app!

We completely understand your point about accessibility and the desire for more free functionality. We've explored different models in the past, but due to the niche nature of the hobby and the costs involved in maintaining high-quality images and reliable servers, a more free version isn’t something we can sustainably offer. Like any business, we also want to fairly support the photographers, developers, and others who help bring the app to life.
That said, feedback like yours is incredibly valuable and helps us keep improving the experience for all aquarium enthusiasts. Thanks again for your support and for helping us make the app better.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 10/10 fish keeper app

*2026-05-03*

The $30 lifetime charge is worth it, it helps me track everything and reminds me when I need to do water changes and parameter checks. It’s practically 100% customizable for your needs!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind review! :) - fishi team

### 5/5 — Best

*2026-03-23, version 1.9.9*

Still the best app for aquarium enthusiasts with super support

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-03-15, version 1.9.8*

If you really love this hobby, you’ll really love this app!

### 5/5 — Good apppage

*2026-03-10*

Great app and very useful however could do with some minor adjustments. When adding equipment onto my fish tank if I swipe off the app and back on it removes all data that I’ve put in… very frustrating when trying to find out what wattages my items use etc.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the kind review - we're looking into this and will hopefully deploy a fix soon!

### 5/5 — Fishkeeper's Dream

*2026-03-07*

I never write reviews but this app has blown me away. It has a lot to expand on but just in the few months I have used Fishi there have been multiple updates to address things or add things I wished were there before. The dev clearly cares about this app and it shows. I'll be using this for as long as I can. 💜

### 5/5 — Great Tool For Data People Like Me

*2025-10-04*

I’ve tried several and they are either very expensive and buggy, lacking features, or seemingly abandoned. This one allows me to track what I want to, hide other parameters, add tanks, and even gives feedback on parameters given my livestock. Great for beginners and advanced fish keepers alike. The developers are also very responsive and listening. Very happy with the app and worth the price.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind review - fishi team!

### 5/5 — A necessary app for any fish keeper!

*2025-09-06*

Before I found this app, I was manually tracking everything in the notes app on my phone. Being able to monitor my parameters for my tanks is an amazing feature in and of itself, but having a resource to learn more about other fish and plants has made this a no brainer for me. If you’re having doubts, don’t. Download it, and make your life easier.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot for the review! glad to hear you're enjoying fishi :) - fishi team

### 5/5 — That was cool

*2025-08-17*

Already loved this app, made a suggestion for the filtering system on Wednesday and the suggestion was not only applied (so cool and so handy, thank you!!) but it was applied by Sunday. Won’t let me edit my original review to make it 5 stars so I’m definitely dropping one that does because a responsive and dedicated team that listens to its users deserves the praise on such a useful and honestly super good looking app.
Thank you, Fishi team! You guys rock!

**Developer response:** EDIT: This is now possible /// Original Response: Thank you for the great feedback! That’s a fantastic idea, and we’ll be adding it in version 1.8.1; Glad to hear you're loving the app, and good luck on the fourth tank - fishi team

### 5/5 — Tank guide 101

*2025-05-16*

Love the app and I have only used it for a couple of days. Helps me know which fish I can put in my tank. How many and precautions I should know about. Easily keep track of my water parameters and more. I am confused about the different subscription options and how they differ. So far I haven’t been able to find the breakdown of what’s included in each.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind review :) We hope you were able to figure it out, and we'll endevaour to make things as clear as possible for others! - Fishi Team

### 5/5 — The best fish tank app out there

*2025-04-17*

This is the best fish tank app available. We have a 75 gallon tank and it keeps track of all our fish, water parameters, notes about water changes/ filters and so much more. You can add new fish to database if they are not in there. Been using for almost a year and will keep using it till we don’t have a fish tank anymore

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind review! - Fishi team
