This app does not help when you are fishing it lumps too many fish together.. example caught a Pompano and its called an Indian thredfish. It should give you the common name based on your location

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-08-01, version 2.7*

Used once to identify my new pet that I rescued. The common name and the scientific name of the fish it claimed to be did not match. Immediately deleted.

### 1/5 — Poor Scanner

*2026-04-30, version 2.6*

I have taken several pictures of fish that I am 100% sure of their species and name. They were African cichlids, specifically the sunshine peacock, the OB peacock, and the dragonblood peacock. Other than identifying them as cichlids, the app completely miss identified the type of cichlids referring to them as mbuna.

### 5/5 — Best app I’ve ever owned

*2021-08-15, version 1.0*

Easy to use. There was a particular reef fish I wanted clarification on and it immedially identified with a result. Highly recommend ‌‌   ‍‍

### 5/5 — Great fish identifier

*2021-08-02, version 1.0*

Awesome app for fish identification! It’s so easy to identify the fish with simple ticks, and every fish I have taken a picture has been the correct fish. If you are looking at identifying fish or an aquarium fish identifier then this is the best app. Also, the ability to browse and search encyclopedias for different fish species is great!

### 2/5 — Not accurate

*2023-04-08, version 1.0*

Not accurate

### 2/5 — Horrible

*2022-05-23, version 1.0*

YOU CAN ONLY IDENTIFY A FISH 3/5 TIMES IF YOU WANT UNLIMITED IDENTIFICATION YOU HAVE TO PAY $43 AND ITS A GOOD APP BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY TO MUCH I DONT RECOMMEND THIS
😡

### 2/5 — hmm.

*2021-08-23, version 1.0*

I can choose to submit the front, middle, or back of the long catfish picture. Not the whole thing. No matter which part of the fish I submit, it says something like European Perch. I'm not in Europe. And it's a catfish, not a perch. Mouth on the bottom, you know? Kinda long? Why do I want to read about a perch?
