### 1/5 — Needs chromecast option

*2024-09-28, version 4.10.16*

App is fine but a chromecast option is essential or it’s not much use

### 1/5 — No Picture In Picture PiP

*2024-08-04, version 4.10.16*

My neighborhood just changed to Hotwire. All is really good except iOS and iPAD apps have no PIP so you can't do other things while watching. It makes zero sense. I guess they accept this epic fail. If they bring PIP, I change rating to 5 star. Oh, I'd rather they not have Amazon eero and Google integrated TV, but I can deal with that. No, PIP on mobile, I can't and will prob switch back to Comcast and pay out of pocket. Hotwire will lose my 1gb internet fees.

### 1/5 — Hotwire is not truthful

*2024-08-03, version 4.10.16*

You can not watch Hotwire Fision TV outside your home WiFi network. Don’t let your community subscribe to Hotwire.

They are not truthful.

### 1/5 — Picture in Picture

*2024-07-03*

Why do I have to watch the tv app on landscape. It won’t change to portrait so it forces me to watch and not be able to surf the web

### 1/5 — Even Hotwire says to avoid

*2024-07-01*

This app says it lets Hotwire Fision customers watch TV in their devices. It doesn’t. It let me login, but then said I don’t have an active TV account. Fision TVs are working fine. I finally called Hotwire Support. Technician had heard of the app but didn’t know anything about it. Said I should use individual network’s websites or apps instead. Technician looked up the requirements to use the app and said I met them, but couldn’t help other than to send a ticket to the app team. Feels like this is either a science project or an orphan app, not something Hotwire expects to be used.

### 1/5 — All but Useless

*2024-04-11, version 4.10.16*

Great, now I can watch TV on my smartphone - yippee! Who cares?

Until this app is available on streaming platforms like Roku, it's just a sales gimmick that Fision will use to make it appear like they're competing head-to-head with Spectrum. The Spectrum streaming app is what they need to copy, not a worthless mobile device wannabe.

Fail.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-02-22, version 4.10.16*

I would only use this to stream when I’m away from home which is not allowed on this app. So it’s totally useless.

### 1/5 — no streaming away from home

*2023-09-03, version 4.8.4*

crazy! the only reason I’ll stream to another device is because I’m away from home.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2023-08-14, version 4.8.4*

I have Fision plus and the app does not work

### 1/5 — Don’t need it.

*2023-07-01, version 4.8.4*

It is crazy that you can only stream on your home network. Almost all other providers let you stream out of your network. True you might not be able to stream all networks outside of home network but most providers let you stream quite a few channels.
Also don’t like that the app is not on the appletv. It is a much better streaming box than the one Hotwire gives you.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-05-20, version 4.8.4*

Can only use at home. I miss Xfinity but my dumb condo association wanted to line their pockets and forced this trash on us!

### 1/5 — Even Hotwire says to avoid

*2026-05-19, version 4.13.114*

(Update: Just received a developer response, nine months after posting review that the app doesn’t work. I’ve moved on.)
(2026 Update: Hotwire said they updated the app, so I tried again. The “new” app let me login, then said “No valid Fision+ account found”, same as always. My account is active, Fision works fine on my TV, but the app remains useless. If Hotwire is going to advertise and promise this feature they need to deliver.)

### 1/5 — Wow is this bad

*2026-02-24, version 4.13.114*

Inexplicably will only run on one of my two iPads

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2026-02-02, version 4.13.114*

Keeps saying I can download a compatible version which doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — I really don't know why

*2026-01-20, version 4.13.114*

I really don't know why such a concept that is so appealing can't be pulled off. It's a straightforward idea, stream cable through your provider..... and nothing.

### 1/5 — Junkware

*2025-10-11, version 4.13.114*

This app is a piece of junk. After entering my Hotwire account login information, it keeps returning to the login screen without acknowledging my Hotwire account which includes the highest TV service. It's not really surprising since the Hotwire service is also a piece of junk. I guess it's back to Xfinity for my household.

### 1/5 — What “To Do List”?

*2025-05-31, version 4.10.16*

As a previous longtime TiVo customer, we were looking forward to returning to that interface with our Hotwire box and this app. But for some bizarre reason, the To Do List is just a replica of my OnePass Manager. There is no listing of what shows will be recorded and when. There is no Recording History to see what shows were scheduled but didn’t record (and for what reason). I don’t understand how I’m supposed to see what will be recorded!

### 1/5 — Inexplicably the worst entertainment app in existence.

*2025-05-05, version 4.10.16*

I really am astounded that Hotwire is allowing this to even exist. It would be a sad app a country town funeral service, let alone a utility company operating in Los Angeles. Spectrum and DirectTV are so much better in every single imaginable way.

No, you cannot watch TV on this app. You can’t do anything really.

Also the app doesn’t fill the margins of your device!! Like who programmed this!?

### 1/5 — Even Hotwire says to avoid

*2025-04-04, version 4.10.16*

### 1/5 — Trash

*2025-01-20, version 4.10.16*

The app is slow and buggy.

### 1/5 — I wish I could go back to Xfinity

*2024-10-20*

My HOA switched to Hotwire. The cable service is nowhere near as good. Half the time I need to reboot the system to get it working.
Hotwire, for the love of all that is holy and good. Allow for Picture in Picture. How is it possible that in 2024, I can’t scroll and watch something at the same time. Literally every other streaming provider can have this technology but my cable provider can’t?
None of my services have been retained with my new login. Can’t get on the ESPN app. Can’t get on hbo max.
Let’s just say, I’m not a fan of Hotwire so far and this app needs work.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works well

*2026-05-26, version 4.13.114*

Easy to use. Great for traveling.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2025-02-26, version 4.10.16*

The app works well in an outside of your home network. I suggest to contact your heart wire customer service team if you have problems getting it to work outside of your area.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2024-12-18, version 4.10.16*

I enjoy using this app on my iPhone and iPad, it gives me alternative ways to watch TV when my family is hogging all the TVs.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-05-10, version 4.8.4*

Simple app and it has access to over 100 streaming channels I can access anywhere.

### 5/5 — Fits what I need

*2022-12-21, version 4.8.4*

New to Hotwire/Fision. So far, it has fulfilled all of our needs. As long as you are connected to stable internet, this app has worked perfectly so far.

### 4/5 — Major Help

*2025-05-01, version 4.10.16*

The development where I live in switched from Xfinity, which was super awesome, to Hotwire, which is more of a meh. Setting up the DVR was a nightmare on the TV. However, this app made it fast and easy to do. In a household of three we have a ton of shows that we watch. It’s only been a couple of days, but I’m still not used to the new Hotwire remote and TV interface, but this app is helping to ease the transition process and speed up searching for content.

### 3/5 — PIP - Finally!!

*2025-10-14, version 4.13.114*

One of the biggest issues was no Picture in Picture support. It’s there now so I am upgrading from 2 to 3 stars

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work outside of home area

*2025-07-04, version 4.10.16*

Works ok in home area, it worked for a while out of state, but soon quit, not as advertised. Had to sign up for youtube tv at additional cost. False advertising by Hotwire, Comcast is much better.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2024-10-14*

Only had this for a few days, so initial thoughts. Overall ok functionality. The most annoying thing is that that there is no Picture in Picture support. When watching something, your phone is taken over and you can’t do anything else. Easy update to add the toggle to go from full screen to PiP.

### 2/5 — App is below par needs a lot of work

*2024-09-10, version 4.10.16*

It works well within my own home however, reaming does not work well outside the home. I can only get it to work 10% of the time.

In addition, you cannot use any other app when streaming. Other streaming services have this figured out and it’s pretty important because if you have to take a call or read a message, then you have to click back in and start program.
