## What is FitInsights?

FitInsights turns the data your iPhone and Apple Watch already collect into a daily training and recovery coach.

Every calculation runs on your device, using your Apple Health data: workouts, heart rate, HRV, sleep, resting heart rate, steps, VO2 max, and body composition. No account, no upload, no ads (there is a small amount of user-provided inputs that get shared across the devices on your account via iCloud).

The Three Main Views (How It Works)

Dashboard: your daily decision
- Morning Capacity (0–100): overnight recovery minus what you've already spent
- Today's Load vs. your target band, with a rolling training "Base"
- Effort guidance: recovery, easy, moderate, or hard (matched to how you actually slept and recovered)
- Recovery chips for sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep debt, and sleep regularity
- After-workout capacity, updated the moment you finish a session

Insights: the multi-week picture
- HR zone distribution and polarization, so you can see easy-vs-hard balance at a glance
- Load trend using short-term:long-term load ratio, shown as a trend
- HRV and resting heart rate against your own rolling baseline
- Sleep duration and regularity over time
- A wellness journal that sits alongside your objective data, without pretending the two always agree
- VO2 max and body composition trends, confidence-gated so noise doesn't masquerade as progress
- A metric library for anything else you want to chart and baseline from Apple Health data

Engine: is your fitness actually improving?
- Heart-rate recovery trend: how fast your heart rate drops after effort, a well-studied marker of aerobic fitness
- Aerobic efficiency trend: whether your heart rate is drifting less at the same pace over time
- A plain-language nudge on what (if anything) to add this week that always respects your current recovery
- An optional, opt-in monthly fitness check using a simple walk or run test; shown next to, never instead of, your Apple Watch VO2 max estimate

BUILT ON REAL SPORTS SCIENCE: training-impulse and acute:chronic workload methods, heart-rate-reserve zones, HRV baselining, and heart-rate-recovery research, instead of a black-box score.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN: reads from Apple Health, never writes anywhere else. No server, no login, and all calculations performed on-device.

FOR RUNNERS, CYCLISTS, AND EVERYDAY ATHLETES: built for recreational and endurance athletes who want to train smarter, not race-time prediction gimmicks or fake-precision scores.

FitInsights provides wellness and training guidance only. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns.

Requires an iPhone with Health app data. Apple Watch recommended but not required.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-08-22

This build is focused on visual tweaks to the capacity chart on the dashboard and correcting a minor bug with Watch Complication display and another minor bug with the training baseline marker when viewing historical data.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-19

New look for the Dashboard:
- All the same information you already expect, but a clearer estimate of daily capacity and recommendations now appears at the top of the Dashboard so that overall recommendations are more clear
- New capacity over time graph so you get an "at-a-glance' overview of how the day has gone

Engine Tab is now the Fitness Tab:
- At a glance view of your Apple Fitness information and VO2 Max Estimates are added in (if used)
- Graphs helping explain how your body is answering to load have been added, which is really what the purpose of the Engine Tab was meant to be (now we just explain it better), but you still get all the same data that was present before as well. It's the best of both worlds!

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-13

This version is solely focused on performance with regard to watch complications and Home Screen widgets, and trying to find the right balance between usefulness versus just opening the app every time anyway.

### 1.0.50 — 2026-07-29

Couple of minor bug fixes and performance improvements.

### 1.0.42 — 2026-07-28

No release notes.
