### 3/5 — Could be amazing

*2026-07-23*

I love Graham and his recipes. Unfortunately I’m just using the app for recipes. It doesn’t automatically pull in my sleep or weight from the health app. If I miss a day I can add weight but sleep not logged. Seems pointless as you can’t see sleep history anyway. I am still using MyFitnessPal for food logging as I just can’t do it in this app it’s too difficult. Eg, I might drink 238g soya milk I want to log that in 1g increments not nearest 250g. I’m also dairy free. I use the recipes and adapt them but I’m clueless how to log it without doing everything individually. Pros you can choose own weight and macros + targets are sensible. I’m still paying for now in case improvements for logging are made. It’s not bad but could be brilliant

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks for your feedback. In the next couple of weeks we'll have sleep, activity and weight metrics directly available to sync from smart devices as well as steps. You can see your sleep history by tapping the analytics. In food logging, did you can enter a custom amount of grams for any food you wish? So instead of having to scroll through 1g increments on others apps you can simply type '238' in the box to log your soya milk to log it quickly and accurately on The Fitness Chef.

### 2/5 — Problem with recipe feature

*2026-05-22*

I just downloaded this app - very excited as I love the videos I’ve watched - so sane and funny. I put into settings that I’m pescatarian. The problem is that then it ONLY shows me recipes with fish. I wanted some breakfast options and clicked “porridge,” and there were no recipes (because thankfully, there are no porridge recipes with fish). I switched it to vegetarian, and then I got MANY nice breakfast options. Is there a way to fix this?

### 3/5 — It’s good but the images..

*2026-01-12, version 2.2.2*

I enjoy the app and the recipes…but the problem I have is all the images of the food is AI generated and it’s a little off putting…

### 3/5 — Only okay so far

*2025-11-24, version 2.0.1*

I’m on a trial with the app at the moment, and it’s mostly good. But the measurements are fairly restrictive. I wish we had the option to choose spoons or cups for things like sugar or syrup etc. as it’s only offered in grams which is more faff to measure.

Be nice if they just gave us all the measurements regardless of food category. The decimal thing is annoying.

It seems to link to my Fitbit but yet it doesn’t log the exercise I do at gym from my watch. So I then have to log everything individually, which is a pain. Who has time for that?!

So for me, it’s just not worth the money just yet. I’m sure it’ll get there

### 2/5 — Beware

*2025-11-09*

The app is good, but beware, you won’t be able to cancel your subscription, support won’t respond.

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Firstly, you will always be able to cancel your membership. If you sign up via the app store you can manage your subscription via your subscriptions in your device settings. If you sign up via the website all you need to do is log into your account on the website and manage your subscription. Thanks :)

### 3/5 — Purchases

*2025-08-20, version 1.32*

It’s a great app don’t get me wrong. But they should have some free things to access. It’s good. But is it $15 a month good?

### 2/5 — Ok but not great. Period tracker should be optional.

*2025-02-26*

Personally I found the app overly complicated and clunky to use. Apps like fitpal are easier to use and I find the tracking of your calories to be easier to use.

I also feel very strongly that the period tracking system should be an opt in/opt out system, rather than a blanket “Oh you’re a woman you need to track your period” what about trans women or women who do not have periods such as those who have gone through the menopause or hysterectomies. We don’t all want to track our monthly cycles.

I didn’t use it but I also couldn’t work out how to turn the period tracker off. I don’t think it really brings anything to the table for me personally.

**Developer response:** Hi there! You can remove the period tracker from your dashboard by editing your dashboard in settings :)

### 2/5 — Not as easy as other apps.

*2025-01-21, version 1.22*

Tried this app for 4 weeks and didn’t get on with it. Wasn’t as easy as other apps on the market. Didn’t cancel my subscription and have now been charged another £39.99! Gutted.

### 4/5 — Overall solid app

*2025-01-17*

I really like this app overall. Tracking is pretty easy once I got the hang of how it differed from the previous app I was using. My only small issue is with the recipes - since the app lets you choose between British or American food database, it would make sense to give an option in recipes to toggle between units of measurement (British vs American). It would be easier than having to convert things like grams of butter to tablespoons for each recipe (yes I wish America would just get on board with the rest of the world but that’s a different issue!).

### 3/5 — Was OK at first but…

*2024-11-06, version 1.18*

Decent instruction videos and looks visually appealing but the food database didn’t contain some items properly nor the scanner pick up things correctly. Very difficult to amend food entries such as moving them to different times of the day or it reset the weight amounts.

### 4/5 — Revised Review

*2024-10-09*

Coming back to revise my review…

The recipes. Phenomenal. SO good. Honestly, the recipes alone keep me coming back.

But alas, the food logging aspect of this app has not improved for my country. Rarely are things I scan in the database. You need to have user ability to scan and add barcodes, there’s no way I’m going to sit there sending emails to app creators repeatedly. If they’re willing to check all these emails and log the products, they should just have somebody check products as they’re uploaded by users instead.

I’ve returned to utilizing MFP, but using targets taken from this app, because they have every item I put in my mouth.

Recipes: 5/5
App functionality: 3/5

### 1/5 — Don’t fall for the marketing hype

*2024-05-04, version 1.13*

Not the easiet app to navigate- extremely poor support with any issues only interested in your money

### 2/5 — Not great for tracking calories, okay for recipe inspiration

*2024-04-27*

App is still new and I like the selection of recipes, most are all easy to follow and budget friendly. Unfortunately the ai generated photos really put me off the food.

For tracking calories I really don’t recommend the app I do find it combersome with the search that I can’t search my own recipes that I’ve added. I struggle with reading and personally I don’t love the search function it’s a bit hard to narrow down what I’m looking for and would be nice if there was a better visual of the list alternate background colours(better contrast)/ emojis/ photographs next to ingredients rather than just a line as there is a lot of information for each item. There’s a lot of basic ingredients that aren’t on the app that I would expect to be on. When adding in your own recipes would be good to add your own photograph and if you could just search for your own recipes, and even possibly the opportunity to make the recipe public to share with other users . When adding an item to the planner I wish you could edit the quantities and meal, without having to delete and re-add the item again. When it comes to recording weight, I have a smart scale that I use everyday and it’ll update the apple health app to track trends. Disappointing that the fitness chef app doesn’t use my weight measurements from the health app when they are already transferring data on my step count feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

Overall I don’t feel like the app is worth paying the subscription, plenty of apps out there that do a better job

**Developer response:** Hi Fiona. Thanks for your review. Last week we actually updated the design of the My Food and food search sections which resolve the issues you had above 🙏. We are also very close to releasing a version where each of the 1.5 million food items will have an image next to it 🙌.

Additionally, we are just about to add the ability to copy meals and food items to different days and also edit quantities of items you’ve already added to your planner! Perhaps give the app another try in a couple of weeks :)

### 3/5 — Not bad, but a few things would make it easier.

*2024-04-03*

I like this app, but it would be nice if there was an easier to add previous meals from a previous day instead of having to enter it in manually each time. Also, i wish there was a way to edit an entry. You have to delete an entry if you make an error and reenter it. I like the count down of calories and protein so you can see what you have left. Just wish it was easier to use.

**Developer response:** Hi there!

We are just about to release a new version which tackles both of these issues ✅. You’ll be able to copy items to various days and also edit items you’ve already added to your planner.

Additionally, you’ll be able to edit recipes you’ve already created too 🙏🙏

### 1/5 — No better than free apps

*2024-03-20, version 1.10*

Did a free trial of this but found it no better than my fitness pal which is free. Was then charged after first year. Thought I’d cancelled it so emailed 3 times to ask for support & to check if I had cancelled my subscription but nobody ever got back to me. Very disappointed as would have at least expected a reply. Even if it was to say I was mistaken.

### 1/5 — Nope

*2026-07-25*

You can’t even try it out without giving up your personal info for the “free trial” that will automatically renew for $19.99 a month. That’s a huge NOPE. I don’t care how good it is, I won’t be giving up my info before I have even seen the Home Screen.

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thanks for your input. Firstly, you get a 14-day free trial which enables you to experience premium features in the app to see fit it's a good fit for you. Secondly, in order for us to generate your personalised targets for your goal we need to gather information during onboarding. Thanks :)

### 1/5 — Nope

You can’t even try it out without giving up your personal info for the “free trial” that will automatically renew for $19.99 a month. That’s a huge NOPE. I don’t care how good it is, I won’t be giving up my info before I have even see the Home Screen.

### 1/5 — Wouldn’t let me log in

*2026-03-07*

I downloaded this 2 weeks ago and was getting familiar with it. Signed up for the free trial, which would have automatically renewed tomorrow, March 8th. Tried to get use the recipes on it today, got booted out and could not get re-logged in. Nothing worked. Reset my password, still couldn’t get
Logged in. Kept getting an error message to “check my credentials” with not guidance on where or what to check. Cancelled my subscription renewal and removed the app. Maybe it doesn’t work well in the US?

**Developer response:** We are sorry you're experiencing these issues. Please contact support@fitnesschef.uk

### 1/5 — Can’t even log in

*2026-01-18, version 2.2.2*

Downloaded the app and chose the 14 day free trial to be followed by a years membership option. Completed my profile set up five times now and I can’t get any further. I can’t cancel my free trial because it’s not coming up in my Apple subscriptions, I can’t access the app to get a customer service contact email address. Every time I access the app I have to redo my profile and it won’t let me go any further than the “restore purchase” page which, when I click on, says I have no purchase despite me having a confirmation email.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-09-18, version 1.36*

Got to input loads of stuff to get started then when you are ready BAM pay up or log out, how about putting the mandatory payment as first option.

### 1/5 — Biggest load of rubbish

*2025-08-08, version 1.30*

Wouldn’t bother. The app is slow and frequently doesn’t load.

### 1/5 — Take away

*2025-05-12, version 1.25*

I emailed them as there is no take away calories
I got a response to say use fake away????? I want calories for if I have an Indian but to be told look on another site and use that
Don’t waste you money I’m going back to nutracheck

### 1/5 — Do not subscribe!

*2025-01-21*

I downloaded this app last year having followed The Fitness Chef for some time on social media. Having used the app for several months on the subscription I found it over complicated and clunky. As it was a new app I hoped the developer would make changes and improvements but this didn’t happen. There are better health trackers for FREE. So don’t waste your money.

Unfortunately I didn’t realise the app was on an auto renew system and ended up paying for a second year by accident. I contacted customer support explaining my situation and requested a refund and got a smug reply from them stating I should have read the terms and conditions about their auto renew policy. They have refused to refund me and have now stopped responding to any messages. Terrible customer service all round. I’d warn all user not to engage with this app, if you have any issues, they won’t assist. It’s your money they’re interested in.

### 1/5 — Blocked

*2025-01-20, version 1.22*

Hi
I am unable to log to download the app and I think I deleted my acct but I have paid for the year, can you help as I was having issues but despite me emailing I have had no response

### 1/5 — Auto renew

*2025-01-18, version 1.22*

I didn’t get a notification that my subscription would be renewing and it automatically renewed. I emailed straight away to ask to cancel this and be refunded this as I haven’t been using the app and this was denied. I had to spend quite a while working out how to cancel the subscription after that. I thought it was a legal requirement to be informed that a contract was auto-renewing?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic and easy to use!

*2026-07-26*

After following The Fitness Chef for a while and loving his funny, honest and extremely helpful content, I didn’t hesitate to sign up to his new app!
It’s everything I was looking for and so much more. It’s really easy use (after a day or two of exploring how everything works) and is helping me greatly with tracking all of my calories and sticking to my goals.
The huge range of recipes are incredible too. I have made quite a few recipes in the last two weeks and so far the Tex-Mex Beef and Rice is my favourite. I cannot wait to try out more.
I had one small issue last week and the customer service emailed me back within hours and helped me solve the issue quickly.
The app is truly worth every penny, I love it.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for your incredible review!

### 5/5 — Worth It

*2026-07-23*

I appreciate this guy’s balanced approach to food. He has been a huge part of healing my own woundedness with a necessary human activity. So grateful the internet brings him across the ocean to me.

**Developer response:** That's very kind :)

### 5/5 — Love it

*2024-02-11*

I’ve been using the app for almost a month and love it, it’s very easy to use. The only thing I would change is making a favorite list from the custom food list and being able to modify quantities from the daily planner.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2024-02-08*

This app is so good, the recipes are amazing and simple to do. You can track your calories weekly or daily which is easy to follow. It’s a great app and has been made by an actual fitness professional . Give a go, you won’t regret it

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2024-02-08*

Thus is an excellent app. I loved the fitness chef for years. His common sense , science backed approached to food. It’s enlightening and refreshing. He de-stigmatizes food and diets in general. Long overdue.

### 5/5 — Jattwell

*2024-02-07, version 1.9*

Like the features 👍

### 5/5 — Fantastic app
