### 3/5 — Does it’s own thing

*2024-11-01*

Since I turned on Pro, I can’t delete exercises i no longer use and have also deleted my routines so they are not in any and says I still can’t delete.. i want to clean up my workouts for my next 6 week phase. Why can’t I ?

**Developer response:** Exercises are used not only in routines (reusable training templates) - but also in workouts you record (what you see in the History tab). So, if you want to "clean up" exercises, remove them from performed workouts first.

### 2/5 — Simple and good app, just not worth a subscription

*2024-09-30, version 1.8.0*

This app is no longer “free and without ads.” It was awesome when it was because it’s just a simple tracker, nothing fancy. I might’ve paid a one time fee for it but definitely not a subscription. At the moment it doesn’t offer much more use than a piece of paper and a calculator does, so they really better introduce some new features in order to justify a monthly payment model. But personally, I’ll just be finding a new way to keep track of my routines.

### 3/5 — Long time users need to be grandfathered in!

*2024-08-24*

I understand that you’re getting greedy and want more revenue, but locking users out of data they’ve accumulated over years is insane. You’re going to lose a lot of goodwill and users

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! Access to training data is and will remain free after the PRO subscription appears - that is, you will always be able to see the history of your workouts in the History tab, regardless of whether you have a subscription.

### 2/5 — Update is not an improvement

*2024-08-24*

I loved this app and recommended it to others before the update. Now I’m on the hunt for a better one. Get rid of “update to pro” and bring back “copy workout as text”.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The "Copy As Text" was accidentally disabled and is now available again - please update to v.1.7.8

### 5/5 — Love it

*2023-12-30, version 1.5.4*

Love the app. Love that you can create your own exercises and that it is free

### 5/5 — Best Fitness tracker!

*2023-09-28, version 1.5.4*

Simple, Effective, Lightweight, and no obnoxious social features!

I discovered this app by purchasing the Physical logbook on Amazon and I have recommended it to everyone in my circle.

There are only a few additions that I can think of, one is that some workout variations don’t exist on the app, but they give you the ability to make your own so it’s ok. Another addition that would be cool would be the ability to label a specific workout to “volume” or “heavy” so your past data is compared to previous volume or heavy days.

### 2/5 — Love it but…

*2023-07-29*

Used this app for almost a year now. I love the app but about 4 months ago I started experiencing the app freezing on me not letting me log anything or change exercises/routines without swiping out of the app and restarting it. Been forced to move to a different app due to the freezing.

### 5/5 — Simply get the work done

*2023-01-17*

Unlike those bulky apps, this one is simple, easy to use and has plenty of exercise to choose from. Just exactly what I need to track my exercise.

### 5/5 — Great app, simple to get started.

*2023-01-10, version 1.4.6*

A few bugs need ironing out but otherwise a great app.

### 5/5 — Outstanding app

*2022-12-22, version 1.4.5*

A wonderfully thought out and brilliantly realised app.

I started callisthenics, but every (subscription) app out there is massively overpriced and does not allow me to configure it to my personal progression level. This app allows me to build my own programme (read r/bodyweightfitness for the best diy callisthenics programme) from either existing exercises where possible, or creating my own, which is a doddle. It might take some time to get all my custom exercises in, but once they’re in they’re always available.

The customisation is simplistic, but in an exceptionally good way. Exercise pairs and triples can be built into supersets, and you can predetermine reps, weights and configure rest periods between sets and exercises within and outwith those supersets.

Once a “routine” is built, press start and it literally guides you through your programme, with a timer popping up for your rest periods.

All this…in a completely free app. No sign up, no junk adds, all transparently free. Amazing work!

Only thing I would like to see is a field for adding links to tutorials on YouTube or other websites, but you can add them to the notes and copy and paste the link. I ain’t complaining.

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2022-11-03, version 1.4.1*

So far so good…. I’m able to setup workouts and send to my athletes who can import them into their
Apps. Saves on paper. It would be great if there was some way of setting up a group where u can share and see what athletes have done:

### 1/5 — Crashes Constantly

*2025-08-30*

This app used to be great. After the recent update (which added a paywall!) the app constantly crashes. Find something else

**Developer response:** Hello, and sorry for the late reply. Please update the app to version 2.0.8. In case of problems in the future, please feel free to write to the developer at alex@fitness-logbook.com (this will help to issue a patch much faster). Regarding the "paywall", it did appear in December 2024, and nothing has changed since then.

### 1/5 — Terrible upgrade!

*2024-12-04*

I loved this app for a while! My husband and I both used it. No issues, could make as many routines as I need, never cost a dime!! Now they upgraded it. You get 4 free routines, after that it’s $2.99/month. Nope, goodbye. Thanks for the good run, but I’m not paying $25/year to track my workouts. I’ll find another app or just go back to writing it down 👋🏼

### 1/5 — Loved it until today

*2024-11-05, version 1.8.1*

This app was amazing…..until today. Go to train and suddenly have to make an account however all I get is a error message.

### 1/5 — Shame

*2024-08-26*

FL went from the Best Free fitness app, to one of the bottom tier paid ones because Alex (the dev) sold out.

Why would anyone pay $2 a month for a mediocre app when there are so many better paid ones for the same price?

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, but you did not write the main thing - if I "sold out", where can I get my money? :) The app is still free. Yes, there will be some paid functions, but the core features - like recording workouts - are free whether you sign up for a PRO subscription (when it appears). -Alex

### 1/5 — Paid only now

*2024-08-21, version 1.7.6*

Stupid app went to a pro only model so you can’t log your workouts.

### 1/5 — Good when it was free

*2024-08-21, version 1.7.6*

It’s a shame developers got greedy. This was a good app until they went subscription based.

### 1/5 — Becoming paid

*2024-08-20*

Took away features I have been using for 1 1/2 years now, and will be putting them behind a pay wall. I loved this app, but now that I’ll have to pay to use features I had access too before for free, I will be looking for something else.

### 1/5 — I love the app but it doesn’t work

*2023-07-16*

The app used to be amazing. But now I can’t get the app to open without crashing. A workout with this app tracking takes twice as long due to the crashes. Please fix this, I love this app :,)

**Developer response:** Hi, unfortunately, I am not getting any info from Apple about these crashes (and all our telepaths are on vacation). Please email me at alex@fitness-logbook.com to help figure out what causes the problem and how to fix it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2023-02-15, version 1.4.9*

App will not work with iPhone 14 pro.

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2022-07-08, version 1.2.0*

App crashed in the middle of my workout and I can no longer open it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2026-07-22*

Fantastic app! So simple, yet so effective! As a beginner, I couldn’t find something that simply tracked my workouts, log them, and customize them. I didn’t feel overwhelmed like some of the other apps do. I’m still trying the free version, but I’ll see how it is in the long term and probably check out the PRO version later on :)

### 5/5 — Simplicity at its best

*2026-07-01, version 2.2.2*

Great workout logging app. It’s incredibly easy to set up and use, making it simple to track your gym workouts and monitor your progress.

The app really comes into its own once you start using the “Programs” feature. Being able to plan and organise an entire 12-month training programme is a huge advantage and makes it much easier to stay consistent.

One of my favourite aspects is the lack of social features. I’ve tried a lot of workout logging apps, and many seem to focus on social integration, which I personally have no interest in. This app stays focused on what matters—logging workouts efficiently.

I hope the developer continues to improve the app without losing its clean, simple, and uncluttered design, which is one of its biggest strengths.

There’s also a companion paper logbook available on Amazon, which is excellent. I use both the app and the paper logbook together. The app includes a feature to scan your paper logbook and import it, but unfortunately I’ve never managed to get that working successfully. Hopefully that’s something that can be improved in a future update.

Overall, this is one of the best workout logging apps I’ve used and one I’d happily recommend.

### 5/5 — Great for fitness tracking and training

*2026-06-19*

This is a go to app for fitness logging where I’m concerned !!!!

### 5/5 — Organized, easy, and functional

*2026-05-25*

I love this app. It’s been a breeze tracking my progress in lifting. I was weary, only because most of these apps are not as advertised. It’s simple, it works how it’s supposed to and it keeps track of my PR’s. I wish it incorporated more stability workouts but that’s me nitpicking because I’ve finally incorporated more. Oh, it also has Smith-machine on there, not just barbell. Great app.

### 5/5 — the best workout logger

*2025-11-12, version 2.1.4*

really simple and intuitive

### 5/5 — App Working Again

*2025-08-12*

Some features locked behind pro subscription but I guess everyone needs to make a living!

### 5/5 — Amazing Customer Service

*2024-12-10, version 1.8.6*

I’ve been using this app for quite some time now, I’ve used many many others and this one has by far been the absolute best for simplicity and progress .. I recently switched to pro and did have some issues and within hours after emailing support, bugs were fixed and update solved
I can honestly say keel up the amazing work cause I don’t want to lose this app 😊 Thanks Alex

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2024-10-09*

This app is really great in tracking your workouts and helping you set your personal goals! Highly suggest it.

### 5/5 — I stand corrected

*2024-08-27*

The features I was looking for have been included in the latest update. Best app I’ve found.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The "Copy As Text" was accidentally disabled and is now available again - please update to v.1.7.8

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2024-03-14*

Tracking your workouts and reflecting back to adjust/improve things is invaluable. This app makes it so convenient and easy to keep track of all variables. Love it.
