### 4/5 — almost perfect…

*2026-05-17, version 1.11.4*

this is a really good cubing app and it is very much worth the money, however the only thing I would really like to change is the layout. As I upgraded to the iPhone 17 pro this year, the setting tools at the top of the screen has been overlapping with the time and battery on my phone… aside from this minor flaw, I love this app very much

### 4/5 — Great

*2025-11-01, version 1.11.4*

This app is great for practicing speed cubing. My only wish is that it showed the expected end result of the scramble sequence to also aid in correct reading of cube move notation.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work properly on iPhone 15 Pro Max

*2023-11-10*

I can’t tap the buttons at the top because the buttons are at the same height as the dynamic island on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, making it so the parts of the screen where you swipe down for notification center and control center cover up the buttons. Otherwise a good app, I used it on my old iPhone 13 Pro and it worked great

### 4/5 — Best mobile timer

*2022-09-01*

I love this timer, one issue however, there is not 3x3 OH. Please fix this devs. Your app is perfect otherwise. I love it.

### 4/5 — Would be perfect if...

*2022-02-10*

When ChaoTimer disappeared from the app store, I started looking for an alternative. I noticed Cameron from SpeedCubeShop used FiveTimer, so I decided to spend $2 to give it a try. I'm glad I did! It has every feature I need... except one. If it showed the date/time for each solve, it would be a perfect 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 4/5 — Good but missing some things

*2020-11-01, version 1.9.9*

It's great and does what it needs to but i wish there were new features especially for a paid app. It would be greater if there was a stock session for OH.
It would also be better if users could add custom notation for custom puzzles.
Another thing which i think is needed is a preview scramble option on stock puzzles

### 5/5 — New features

*2018-11-20*

You should add a feature that generates the drawing of what the scramble looks like. Aside from that, solid this is a app

### 5/5 — By far the best cube timer out there

*2017-01-27*

I switched to this from ChaoTimer, and I love it. It maintains a minimalistic look while offering amazing features like hardware keyboard shortcuts and controls. I love it, and it was well worth the purchase.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2016-12-30, version 1.7.2*

It may cost 2 dollars (USD) but it is so worth it. I used to use "ChaoTimer" but this obliterates it. It has a material design and a user friendly interface there is a session for EVERY WCA event that auto saves your times to that session. GET IT!

### 4/5 — Keyboard compatibility

*2015-09-21, version 1.6.8*

I recently just bought an iPad keyboard which is very useful for the spacebar use for the timer, although, I have noticed that after using the spacebar, when I try to tap any of the other buttons like "Delete last" or "Penalty", it starts the timer again which means I would have to stop it again and delete the time to be able to add a penalty or change scramble type. It can get quite annoying after a while. Hope this gets fixed soon.

### 5/5 — Great Timer

*2015-01-06, version 1.6.5*

This is the best timer on iOS. The drop to stop feature, in my experience, does not work while the feature for hiding the solve time is used. Please fix this. Great job

### 5/5 — Best iOS timer made

*2014-12-02, version 1.6.2*

This is my personal favourite timer. I really recommend this to everyone who has enough to but this.

Thanks Thrawst for making an amazing app!

### 4/5 — PLEASE FIX!!!!!!

*2014-10-25, version 1.6.1*

Every time I click on best avg it crashes and it won't let me click on it. Fix!!!

### 1/5 — Some major problems

*2020-12-15*

While the concept it nice, there are some huge problems that make the timer not worth getting.

The first is that it is very easy to reset your session, and I have many times accidentally reset all my solves. If they made the reset button in settings instead of on the timer, it would be better.

Second, the settings take forever to load. At first it is fine, but after I hit 2000 solves I started noticing some significant delays from when I press the stats button to it loading. Now I am at 7000, and I plan on getting much more, and I will press the stats button, go do something else and come back so I don’t have to wait for it to load.

Some other features that it should have would be showing you your PBS on the timer, format customization, and a way to back up your times.

Don’t get this timer until these will be fixed, it is a waste of money

**Developer response:** Sorry you're having trouble.
There is a prompt that is displayed asking "are you sure?" before resetting a session. You can also hide this button.

The timer was not intended for sessions of that magnitude (few timers are). Work is being done to support larger sessions.

### 1/5 — Problematic

*2020-10-20*

I downloaded this app on my new phone to try it out bc I’ve heard it’s good. Almost all of the time if I try to start a solve before I have less than 10 secs of inspection left it just won’t let me start the timer and gives me a DNF. Also sometimes when I’m solving the timer will just stop when I wasn’t anywhere near my phone. The data this app gives is great but the app isn’t very well put together

**Developer response:** Early timer stopping sounds like you have drop-to-stop on with a very high sensitivity. Try turning that down, at it's highest sensitivity gusts of air can trigger it.
The timer not starting sounds like you may be using two fingers to inadvertently cancel the inspection. If it persists send some feedback through the settings page and it will be looked into.

### 1/5 — Poor quality five timer

*2019-10-29*

The app does not solve the cube I wish fore more modes like cross f2l and many others I feel that there are to many apps that are for cube timers most of them actually don’t mark and it’s a waste of 2 dollar I feel you should make an app worth the cost not more than what is does so I feel bad for this app for not letting you choose what your cube looks like

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2014-11-02, version 1.6.2*

Keeps displaying dnf instead of timing properly even with drop to stop turned off

### 2/5 — Why???

*2014-09-19, version 1.6*

Dont update this app!!! After the update, when you touch the screen it wont stop as well as before.. and the drop to stop does not stop as well as before. I am disappointed by the update. fix that please.

### 2/5 — Deal Breaker

*2013-05-11*

Any time I tab out of the program I run the risk of the program refusing to tab back in. The only way I've found to reopen it is to delete the app and redownload it. This problem has already caused me to lose several session with a total of over a 100 recorded times. I would have given this program at least 4 stars, if not a 5, if it werent for this major issue. It happens in both the ipad and ipod versions.

### 2/5 — Crashes every time, needs update

*2013-03-17, version 1.3*

Crashes upon opening. Please update this.

### 3/5 — Great before - but not as much now

*2026-06-27*

Used for years and loved it! Just upgraded to an iPhone 17 and it appears that this application and the screen display are not compatible with each other. There are some bordering issues that I can’t seem to resolve that makes it impossible for me to switch sessions.

### 3/5 — Starting to show its age.

*2026-02-08, version 1.11.4*

This app is great for practicing speed cubing I wish that it showed the expected end result of the scramble sequence to also aid in correct reading of cube move notation. Also it doesn’t work well with newer iPhones with Dynamic Island where the top control bar overlaps the system status bar rendering some functions useless.

### 3/5 — Wonderful app...before the iPhone 15.

*2023-12-17*

This app is absolutely wonderful! Every functionality is really well thought out, and the user experience is very fluid. HOWEVER, On iPhones with Dynamic Island (14 Pro/Max, 15/Plus, 15 Pro/Max), the top bar is inaccessible unless if you enter landscape mode. I never had this problem on my iPhone 12 mini which had a notch instead of the dynamic island. Otherwise, a perfect app!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great timer, wish it had FTO scrambles!

*2026-07-25*

I’ve been a FiveTimer user for like… 8 or 9 years. It’s more than paid for itself by now! I use it literally every day and have no complaints about the app itself. It’s easy to use with a nice UI, and the ability to customize shortcuts makes things even easier. No notes. It would be crazy to change the review from five stars for this alone, so I’m keeping it at 5 and throwing the suggestion in that I’d love if the timer implemented FTO scrambles for the new WCA event.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2024-07-12*

Has every feature that I need. Well worth the $2.

### 5/5 — Great cube timer!

*2023-03-03*

I highly recommend this cube timer. It’s very easy to use and it’s exactly what you need in a timer.

### 5/5 — Great App! Two requests…

*2022-04-01*

Fantastic app overall and the one I use. I love the reliable drop to stop feature. The interface is slick. I have two requests that would make it perfect. One is a date and time when you try to export session reports. The other is a scramble graphic included with the scrambles to make sure you get it right. If those are implemented at some point I would be so happy.

### 5/5 — My new favorite cube timer app!

*2022-01-21, version 1.10.1*

As a long time and devoted ChaoTimer user, I was super disappointed when I updated my phone and iOS and discovered it wasn’t available anymore. I searched the App Store for a comparable replacement and there’s nothing that does it all like ChaoTimer…except this cube timer app! FiveTimer is the best one I’ve found and it’s definitely well worth the small purchase price. It reminds me a lot of ChaoTimer, but there are many differences that could be considered a design improvement or an upgrade. Bottom line, I think this app is the best cube timer app available for iOS and the developers did an awesome job. Thanks in advance for keeping FiveTimer updated and available for others to enjoy!

### 5/5 — iPhone 12 compatibility issue (fixed!)

*2021-02-12*

The buttons on the top are obstructed by the notch and unpressable
Edit- it’s been fixed! Best mobile timer hands down!

### 5/5 — 5 star

*2020-03-17, version 1.9.7*

Great app well worth the price.

### 5/5 — It is a really good timer but there is a bug

*2019-08-20*

One time it didn’t let me in and when I reset my phone and it let me in and RESET ALL OF MY TIMES!

### 5/5 — Well worth the $2

*2019-05-01*

Most timers are free, so I was hesitant to spend money on one. But after using it, I'm very happy with the purchase! This timer has a very polished feeling, and it has almost every feature I want. I sent a feedback email containing a few requests (eg. random state clock scrambles) and the developer responded within two days, which is much faster than I would have expected! I replied to that email, and his next response came within two hours. Very pleased with the speedy replies, and also pleased with how he handled the requests/feedback! There are no issues with this amazing app that I can find, and I plan on using FiveTimer (and recommending it to others!) for likely years to come.

### 5/5 — One of the best timer apps

*2019-02-15, version 1.9.6*

Simply put, it’s one of the best. I only write this review because I reported a bug yesterday, and it was fixed today. Fantastic app, worth the money to support the devs
