### 3/5 — Mostly good, with some major performance bugs

*2026-08-22, version 1.5.49*

Most of the workouts are good and seem to have helped with my running breath work. But since this app does not work with Garmin I have never been able to sync the hear rate feature (which is the metric used to measure progress) to it. It says it works with Garmin, but it have not ever once picked up my Fenix 8 or my hrm chest strap. I’d recommend finding free breath work on YouTube.

### 2/5 — I won’t give my payment info for a trial, deleted

*2026-08-14, version 1.5.48*

Would have liked to try this for a week or two. I don’t sign up for subscriptions that take payment info upfront and then start automatically charging unless I cancel immediately. So I did not try it.

### 3/5 — Very expensive and repetitive workouts

*2026-08-13, version 1.5.48*

I was inundated with ads for this app, but there was only a 3-day free trial and you can’t pay monthly for the subscription. So, paying almost $50 for a quarterly subscription seemed ridiculous. I ended up trying it on a whim after a run. 30 days was enough to see that this is not worth the money for me. The first 30 days was mostly repeating the same 3-4 workouts every day. By the end of the first week, I knew the script for each workout by heart. You definitely do not need anyone coaching you through these workouts and saying, “You got this, team!” It was the most expensive app I’ve ever purchased, and I learned my lesson.

### 2/5 — Too pricey for me

*2026-08-08, version 1.5.48*

I’d be very interested in using this for a month, maybe 6 weeks to see what it’s like. But the minimum subscription term is a quarter and it’s £40. That’s a pretty steep price for breathing classes, and the free trial is only 3 days so not even a full week.

I get the subscription era, to an extent. But consumers are being milked dry.

### 4/5 — Looks Good So Far with One Caveat

*2026-07-27, version 1.5.47*

I have been interested in breath work to improve my athletic performance for a while now. Most of the apps I’ve seen are little more than glorified meditation apps with maybe an exercise or two to increase endurance buried somewhere behind a bunch of menus.

I saw an ad for FivePointFive declaring it is a breath work app for athletes and I had to try it. So far, the breathing exercises I’ve done are unlike any of the ones I’ve seen in other apps and I am cautiously optimistic that they will help improve my performance. I also like that it built a personalized 90-day plan for me…I find it much easier to stick with something long term when I have a plan.

I do have one significant concern that prevents me from giving the app a perfect 5 stars though. The performance section which displays all of your data and progress only works if you have an Apple Watch. One of the major selling points of this app is that it uses your wearable to provide feedback. There is a workaround where you can broadcast your heart rate from your Garmin or other smartwatch and an AI coach will give you feedback on the class you just completed, but there is no way to view consolidated data along with long term trends. Garmin support is supposedly coming soon and I’ll be happy to amend my rating when that happens.

### 5/5 — Helpful guidance with a science-backed plan

*2026-06-30, version 1.5.43*

I had a coach point out to me that you can live for up to a couple weeks without food, days without water, but only minutes without air. Breathing well is critical not just for performance and growth but overall health.

So I’ve been interested in breath work for a while but it was hard to find a simple and clear process to follow to see actual results. Five Point Five has filled that void. I now have a plan to follow and the consistency is paying off. I just finished my 200th session and notice a difference in my runs as well as my rest and recovery. It takes daily commitment, but the commitment is worth the investment. If you’re looking to dial in your breathing and take your performance and health to the next level, commit to a 90-day session and do the work…you won’t regret it.

### 3/5 — Getting started

*2026-06-26, version 1.5.43*

There are seemingly too many questions to get started.

### 3/5 — Cool app, overpriced

*2026-06-26, version 1.5.43*

Can’t justify paying $90/year for this. Not enough variety, integrations with Garmin barely work, and frankly just not worth the price. Free trial was only 2 days.

### 3/5 — Too many questions before you sign up

*2026-06-21, version 1.5.41*

Honestly, I haven’t even been able to try out the app yet. But it asks you a million questions before you can even sign up.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-06-19, version 1.5.41*

Very happy with this app. I like having the workout plan to motivate me to use it consistently. I’d like to see more intermediate and advanced sessions.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Please give a longer free trial

*2026-08-14, version 1.5.48*

3 days is almost predatory before charging at least $50 for the program, especially where you often have to cancel 24 hours before to avoid the charge. I was excited to start but don’t want to risk only having 48 hours to get a feel for the program before deciding to commit or be on the hook for that charge. Please make it longer and I’d be happy to give it a shot.

### 1/5 — Charged $96 before 3-day trial expired

*2026-08-07, version 1.5.48*

Very predatory trial scheme.
I had a very disappointing experience with this app and its trial process.

To even access the app, you’re required to sign up for a subscription ($45 every three months or $90 annually), which is presented with a three-day free trial. I set a reminder on my phone if I wanted to cancel before the trial ended, but was charged BEFORE THE THREE-DAY TRIAL WAS OVER. I also never received the reminder notification that the app indicated I would receive before the trial expired.

The set up was frustrating from the beginning. The app requires an email verification code to log in, but I never received the code with my primary email address. I ultimately had to use a Gmail account just to access the app.

Even after getting in, I was only able to use the app for one, five minute session. I couldn’t get it to connect with my Apple Watch despite multiple attempts. Before I even had a fair chance to evaluate whether the app worked as advertised (or worked for me, personally), I was charged for the annual subscription—$96.

I’m currently waiting for Apple to process a refund because I should not have been charged before the trial period ended, especially given the technical issues that prevented me from properly using the app. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend it.

### 1/5 — Unusable without subscription

*2026-08-07, version 1.5.48*

In an age where every developer is forcing you to subscribe for even the most basic features, this app is no different. I shouldn’t be surprised, but I was hopeful to at least experience a taste of what the app has to offer without being forced to subscribe. Alas, you can’t even get to the home page without saying yes. Instantly deleted.

### 1/5 — One star

*2026-07-25, version 1.5.46*

Why would you ask for a review before I’ve even been able to download the app.

### 1/5 — Garbage app

*2026-07-24*

Garbage app by garbage company. Asking that many questions while implying its free, but having to sign up for a subscription is a scam business model too bad it works enough times people still use it. Did not subscribe deleted app

**Developer response:** Hi, we're sorry to hear this was your first impression.

We never want anyone to feel misled. FivePointFive is a subscription app, and all pricing, trial information (where applicable), and renewal terms are clearly displayed on the App Store and again by Apple before any subscription can be confirmed. No one can be charged without explicitly approving the purchase through Apple's secure checkout process.

If there was something about the sign-up process that wasn't clear, we'd genuinely appreciate the opportunity to help. Please feel free to contact us at support@fivepointfive.com and we'll do everything we can to assist.

### 1/5 — No free tier subscription

*2026-07-16*

Why can’t you provide free version?

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Rather than limiting features behind a free tier, we've chosen to invest everything into creating the best possible experience for our members and offer a free trial so people can explore the app before deciding whether it's right for them.

We really appreciate your feedback and hope you'll consider giving the trial a try in the future.

### 1/5 — Not upfront about pricing

*2026-07-15, version 1.5.44*

It feels pretty scummy that I can’t see the price upfront

Edit: the developer said that the price is displayed when activating the free trial, which is true. However, it does not change the fact that you basically only get a sales pitch and zero information about the thing itself without going through a long onboarding process and also agreeing to pay money for it (activating a trial).

### 1/5 — Pay to breathe

*2026-07-09*

Imagine having to pay to breathe, garmin can do the same for free lmao…

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

From your review, it appears you unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to experience the app, as FivePointFive is completely different. We offer a hyper-personalised performance breathwork platform that combines wearable biometrics, AI, and guided breathing protocols scientifically proven to improve endurance, recovery, sleep, stress resilience, and overall health.

While Garmin offers some basic guided breathing exercises, that's very different from the performance training that FivePointFive provides.

Today, tens of thousands of Garmin users have FivePointFive, making Garmin one of our largest wearable communities. If Garmin already provided the same experience, we simply wouldn't see that level of adoption from Garmin users.

We appreciate that our app won't be for everyone, but we hope this helps clarify the difference for anyone considering it.

### 1/5 — Subscription Garbage

*2026-06-30, version 1.5.43*

Literally everything is a subscription not. Keep your subscription garbage. I would’ve paid for a one time fee.

### 1/5 — Good classes; terrible app

*2026-06-24, version 1.5.42*

There is minimal buffering on the app, if any. I can’t practice my breathwork in the car or on my commute, because it keeps stopping. Every other app has no problem. For example, Calm downloads an entire 10 minute meditation in roughly the first 19 seconds and therefore no problem. They have a lot of work to do on the app, but the breathwork classes are good for beginners. Too easy for experts, IMO.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I had doubts but it’s awesome

*2026-08-26, version 1.5.50*

I’ve always had trouble “breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth” when running so decided to give this a try and I am amazed. After 6 weeks of doing the recommended program running is easier, my average HRV is up by 15+ points, and my average RHR is down several. I also use the sleep-related sessions to fall asleep faster and get back to sleep when I wake in the middle of the night. I really appreciate the practical focus on breathing separate from other issues or programs. Highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Great addition to my routine

*2026-08-18, version 1.5.48*

Loving the guided sessions! Just started and can already tell the impact it has on my sleep o & recovery

### 5/5 — Workout are becoming more easier

*2026-08-15, version 1.5.48*

Have been using app and see that able to recover faster and breathing right during the workouts. In turn workouts are getting easier .. highly recommend to serious athletes looking to step up their game

### 5/5 — Data backed gain— HRV, Sleep improvements

*2026-08-09, version 1.5.48*

I’ve been using the app for nearly three months fairly regularly, and I’ve followed the programme while choosing sessions that suit me. Over that time, my Whoop data shows a 45% increase in HRV.
The sleep programmes have also made a noticeable difference. My sleep quality has improved, and I’m much less likely to wake during the night. Even my 7-year-old enjoys the breathing exercises and sometimes uses them to fall asleep.
Overall, I’d recommend it. The data backs it up, the sessions are short, and they’re easy to fit in anywhere.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2026-07-30*

Love the vibe. Love the instructors.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review! 🙏

We're so pleased to hear you're enjoying the experience. Creating classes that are not only effective but also engaging and enjoyable has been a huge focus for us, so it's wonderful to hear you're loving both the vibe and the instructors.

We have some major new features and updates coming very soon, and we can't wait to get them into your hands.

Thanks again for being part of the FivePointFive community—we're excited to be part of your journey!

### 5/5 — Makes breathing fun!

*2026-07-24, version 1.5.46*

I had been struggling with breathing during SLOW jogging and this app has helped with structured exercises after reading the books Breath and Oxygen Advantage. Thought I would just take some classes and then practice on my own - but the animations, haptics, coaches, and progress tracker make it well worth the subscription!

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2026-07-22, version 1.5.46*

I rarely take the time to review apps, but this is one that deserves it! I’ve always had a bit of a weakness when it comes to breathing. Running was off the cards for a long time and I found other breath work formats boring.

This is so far from that! The plan and classes set out for you are great! Perfect length of time, great coaches and I’ve noticed a massive difference.

This is one app that I would highly recommend. Genuinely feel it’s made a difference in my sporting ability! Thank you 🙏🏼

### 5/5 — One month in beginner

*2026-07-21, version 1.5.44*

I’ve really enjoyed the quick breathing exercises to calm down, warm up, and fall asleep. I haven’t noticed a lower heart rate in workouts yet, but I know that’s affected by different factors and I’ve only been using the app for a month.

### 5/5 — The breath work app I needed

*2026-07-17, version 1.5.44*

As a 60 year-old woman, I didn’t think this app was for me the first time I saw the ad. The second time I paid more attention as it spoke about VO2. This is the number I use to motivate me! I’ve been using the app alongside another app called Bevel which helps me to focus on my recovery and my VO2 has increased 1.5 over the last 10 days. I don’t know if its the breath work or my exercise routine but I’m sold!

### 5/5 — I’m sticking to it!

*2026-07-04, version 1.5.44*

I love the short breathwork sessions and have finally found something I actually use regularly. Being able to do 4.5 minutes of practice allows me to build the habit and stay on track. Love the instructors and music and the app is easy to use.
