### 4/5 — Got the app to use with Fjorden camera grip

*2026-07-17, version 2.6.2*

A bit of a shaky start but I’m happy with the grip and the app

The grip is well made, less bulky than its competitors and with easy to use controls. It integrates well with the app which is fairly intuitive after a bit of trial and error.

I have been using it for 4-5 days with no problems on iPhones 16 Pro.

The grip fits to a Fjorden iPhone MagSafe case which is provided, but it does not use a magnet to secure the grip . There are two studs on the grip which fit into locating holes on the case and a third push button stud into a third hole to secure it firmly.

I contacted Fjorden support for my setup problem and got a quick helpful response

I found that it is important to follow the installation instructions. A clear user guide booklet is provided. I made the mistake of powering on the grip before starting the app. This messed up the Bluetooth connection. When I reset everything and followed the instructions it works fine. The grip connects to the app when it is powered on.

The battery for the grip is a CR2032 coin type. The plastic holder is very tight and I found that the supplied plastic battery removal was useless. You need something like a small flat blade screw driver but even then it felt like I might break something.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2026-03-29, version 2.6.1*

It's really fantastic. One thing lacking is the "film" filters feature. Tapping it brings up some really unfortunate 2011 Instagram style filters.

Everything else about this app feels premium, but this one feature is a let down and stuck in the past

### 3/5 — Fjorden experience

*2026-03-02, version 2.6.1*

Being honest with you I really love the comfort and minimalist feel of the Fjorden, but I haven't yet enjoy the uses of it, and it started cracking and opening in two places with no falls or rough treatments, I'm wondering if I should replace it or seek other alternative, as I mention earlier I do love it, but replacing it is also quite expensive, I'm thinking, and take note of your material.

### 4/5 — Good pictures

*2026-02-06, version 2.6.0*

The best camera in your pocket

### 4/5 — No pair

*2026-02-03, version 2.6.0*

I can’t get this to pair with my iPhone 17

### 2/5 — Connection and control buttons problems

*2026-01-11, version 2.6.0*

Not connecting with my iphone 12 or my iphone 13 cannot use controls to take photos

### 2/5 — without the grip

*2025-12-19, version 2.6.0*

this is a great app and it really helps since my stock camera has issues. however, it’s a bit disappointing that it can’t be used without the grip 😭 i hope you’ll consider making it free to use even without the grip

### 5/5 — Wow

*2025-12-09, version 2.6.0*

Loving the simplicity and ease of use. So intuitive yet simple to operate with a comprehensive selection of settings to appease both the newbie and enthusiast…. brilliant idea 😎👍🏼

### 5/5 — Great app and camera back

*2025-12-06, version 2.6.0*

This isn’t just everything I had hoped it would be but so much more.

I used to be a film and then digital SLR user. Now the only thing I use is my iPhone ProMax with the Fjorden Back. Everything can be done one handed.

### 4/5 — Awesome choice! I was about to buy a $1500 point’n Shoot before I found this gadget!

*2025-11-25, version 2.6.0*

Like to post a pic I took this summer.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Developers don’t care

*2026-08-11, version 2.6.2*

This app and grip combined, could have been superb. However, since the lieca acquisition, users voices have been ignored. Just take a look at https://fjorden.notit.io, it’s clear what users want vs what features are actually developed. Take burst mode for example, it’s been requested for 5 years! Shame really, I was early adopter and still love the hardware, the software lets it down. My 3 stars reflect the fact that if you believe the story and buy in to the potential, despite all the promise of listening to users, I feel they’ve had my money and they don’t!

### 1/5 — A fragile product

*2026-07-30, version 2.6.2*

Technically very fragile with the hinged element breaking and making the entire unit useless.
However, top score to the service department for sending a new unit within days of raising the issue.
The only regret is that they sent the same product, ie it’s still a fragile product.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-05-10, version 2.6.1*

Forced to purchase some stupid grip to use.

### 1/5 — Over priced and unreliable

*2026-01-16, version 2.6.0*

This is a major rip off. No real value add and connectivity sucks. They claim it works with Leica Lux but only the camera button does inside the Alecia App. Film simulations are very limited - only 6. Don’t waste your money!

### 1/5 — Used to work

*2026-01-10, version 2.6.0*

First time writing a review. App worked great without the 250$ grip now you cant use the app without the 250$ grip. Only thing the app does is tell you to get the 250$ grip or get the Leica app(all it does is emulate what it would look like to use Leica lenses) heavily doubt any “real photographer” testimonies are genuine you could get a better overall camera for 250$ than using the app with the 250$ grip.

### 1/5 — Dishonest

*2025-12-29, version 2.6.0*

It’s only free if you purchase one of their overpriced bundles, which will cost you ~$300. They were purchased by Leica, changed the pricing model, and “neglected” to change the description of the app. You only get 30 days to try it, and if you don’t spend hundreds of dollars, the app stops working. Just based on this deception, I would never do business with your company.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2025-12-19, version 2.6.0*

So far so annoying can’t be any fiddler , certainly not built for larger hands

### 1/5 — Very bad

*2025-12-19, version 2.6.0*

Only expensive

### 1/5 — Frustrating!!

*2025-12-03, version 2.6.0*

I ve used this app for years but usually more so when traveling or doing specific photo projects. I like to shoot in 48 Mp jpeg but the app randomly switches to 12 Mp and I can’t figure out how to get it back to 48.. Yes, i’m in manual mode, yes I’m using the 1x camera.. I missed 30 minutes of scenery trying to figure it out yesterday and then it just worked agai, back to 48… this morning, I’ve changed nothing and I’m back to the same frustration

### 1/5 — No para aficionados

*2025-11-04, version 2.6.0*

Aplicación útil para quien tenga conocimientos de fotografía, si no posees ciertos conocimientos no vas a poder sacar rendimiento de la cámara, la app solo está en inglés ( si eres novato mejor la app del teléfono)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — What the hell?

*2026-07-20, version 2.6.2*

So after the most recent updated I only get to use this camera for 30 days
Ive had it for a long time now - its my to go to camera - I’ve used it without the grip and now all of a sudden I only get 30 day?

### 5/5 — Brilliant piece of kit

*2026-07-08, version 2.6.2*

High quality and easy to use. Whilst I may use the phone camera without engaging the grip, it is so good to have it available when I want to customise my shot. It absolutely does what it says on the box. Cannot fault it

### 5/5 — Simply Elegant

*2026-07-06, version 2.6.2*

The Fjorden Grip & Fjorden Camera app are simply elegant in design and execution. Kudos to Dr Victor Henning and all those at Fjorden. Brilliant work!

As a longtime DSLR photographer, the grip and app feel completely comfortable and intuitive.

The grip and app have vastly improved the quality and performance of my iPhone as a camera that can still fit easily in my pocket, always ready and at hand.

Fjorden has helped take my iPhone mobile photography to a whole new level. I keep the Fjorden Grip attached to my iPhone - always! I love it!

¡¡Thanks mucho!!

### 5/5 — Effective because the designers made all the right choices

*2026-07-04, version 2.6.2*

A brilliant design: within it’s wonderfully compact body, the FJORDEN incorporates the controls one most wants in a convenient easily used form. A wonderfully effective way to give the users the controls they most need to have the iPhone be as close to a real camera as one can imagine. BRILLIANT.

### 5/5 — What to say..

*2026-04-10, version 2.6.1*

People complain; I don't.

### 5/5 — Get The Fjorden Grip

*2026-04-08, version 2.6.1*

Incredibly powerful zoom and AI processing. The magsafe mount and controls are so much better than the stupid Apple stripe that leaves you fumbling exactly when you need control.

### 5/5 — Fabulous

*2026-03-14, version 2.6.1*

This is the best grip I have seen for the iPhone. It has so many usable features. The app allows for professional control of the iPhone camera.

### 5/5 — iPhone 17 Pro Max

*2026-03-06, version 2.6.1*

Great setup easy to use awesome product!

### 5/5 — Great step in

*2026-01-29, version 2.6.0*

I have used this for over a year and allows me to use my iPhone 14 ProMax as a daily street camera. Seriously this may be a niche product, but seriously good. I can see why Leica snapped it up. Long may it be supported.

### 5/5 — Almost perfect!

*2026-01-26, version 2.6.0*

Been using the app for two years in Iceland and America and Sweden. I love the Fjorden Grip. Has been through some harsh conditions and still works wonderfully. My only suggestion for the app is support for the camera button on newer iOS devices. Instagram is programmable for whatever reason but the best camera app in the App Store isn’t?? 😉
