### 4/5 — Very practical!

*2026-08-24*

Love the camera and ease of using, classic is a bit grainy in low light and I feel like flash doesn’t really do much unless very close to subject. What would be really great would be if you could select individual photos to save to camera roll rather than just the entire roll.

### 3/5 — Not what I imagined

*2026-05-12*

So honestly the app works ok. It connects, lets you get the photos, choose your film sim, but the issue is the camera itself.

V2 has lost the V1 magic and looks more like a bad early digicam which is not the purpose.
So much Chroma noise, a flash that blows out 90% of shots to be unusable and a team that is more bothered about posting TikTok’s every couple weeks rather than talking to their community in Discord.

### 2/5 — New update and V2 camera 👎🏼

*2026-05-10, version 1.20.0*

I love this camera. I’ve had V1 and V2. I prefer my V1 but I sold it when I got my V2. I wish I kept it as I would’ve sold my V2 instead. It’s longer to wind up and the click isn’t as “natural” as the V1. Honestly made me lose interest in the camera.

The new update annoys me. The photo lab is slow and takes up battery that it doesn’t need. The app just gets slower everytime they add “cooler” things.

I love this camera. And V1 I definitely used way more. I’ve lost interest in V2. And it sucks as I am an affiliate.

I miss the OG “starting” versions of it all. Just proves sometimes upgrades are actual downgrades.

### 3/5 — The app limits the camera quite a bit

*2026-01-29*

Even though there are four different filters, the filter on my Flashback V2 is stuck on the default one. The filter will not change no matter which I select. You also cannot see what filter is currently selected. There are occasional crashing issues too. I hope they keep updating the app because the camera is fully dependent on how functional the app is.

### 4/5 — It’s got a few bugs!

*2026-01-18*

I can’t use it if the text size is too large and I can’t change the filter, there is no way to confirm it,

### 2/5 — Photos Black

*2026-01-04*

My photos came back black and when I emailed them they just sent back a stock answer.

### 3/5 — I love my camera but…

*2025-12-25, version 1.16.0*

I recently bought the V2 and it’s defective as well as the other 3 I purchased. I’ve connected support with no response. Over 3x.

My V1 was so fun and amazing. No issues. But I recently sold it to a friend and now they can’t connect it to their app. Says it’s linked to mine. There used to be an unlink option now there isn’t. He has to log into my account to upload his pics.

The app has come a long way tho.

### 2/5 — App Crashes, slow development, v2 losing magic of V1.

*2025-12-14*

The app crashes a lot. You have to manually wait for the photos to develop from your “film” and if the app closes it stops developing it. If the app crashes you have to start all over again. The app also kills battery when on and trying to develop these photos.

Secondly I bought this camera as a family member had the V1 and I loved the vibe. Unfortunately the V2 has completely lost the magic that the V1 had and now looks like a phone camera instead of the film vibe that V1 delivered. A real shame unfortunately.

### 2/5 — Can’t run processing images in background

*2025-12-14*

App is so slow, view photos .. can’t view full screen photos ughhhh. May as well go back to a traditional film camera the,
10minutors to load photos then another 20mins , close app then it restarts upload and viewing takes Nother 20minuotes .
Cute idea poorly executed, even with a shark tank investor

This is a Waste of moneys.z
Get the app right,
Then work on 2.0.

App need serious speed increase .
Loading photos once their processes in lab takes ages , should be heaps faster please work on speed and Performace updates. Thanks

### 2/5 — Dark photos and annoying development time

*2025-08-17*

I don’t love this at all. The development time is so dumb, I don’t even care about the photos after I’ve had to wait 24 hours. I think maybe 5 hours would be good so that it’s not immediate but you don’t have to wait a whole 24. I’ve also never loved any pics this camera has ever taken. If you’re not right on top of someone while using the flash the pics come out too dark to see.

### 2/5 — Connection problems

*2025-06-05*

I love the camera and the photos but my app has the hardest time connecting to the wifi and my camera. It takes so many tries to get my photos unloaded. It’s very frustrating.

### 3/5 — Love it but needs work

*2025-04-14*

We love this product and the fact that it’s a sustainable way to get our photos to have the developed feel. However, having to wait 24 hours, after taking forever to upload into the app has caused us to look at other options. We got real photos developed quicker than this. 2-5 hours is a great sweet spot!

### 4/5 — 1 Year with Camera

*2025-04-02*

I love the idea it is amazing, so portable and gets some many compliments with the photos.
Downsides though…
-photos are inconsistent, find myself not using the camera as much coz of it :(
-camera flash been playing up (does not activate all the time) so Iv’e wasted a photo
-feel like the button malfunctions a lot which affects camera usage
-connection of transferring photos is TOO slow. I wanna be able to do it quick so I can take more photos. Find myself only using it 1x a day coz it wont connect to transfer

When I do get photos I love it, but the original camera needs work please so its more fun to use than a hassle. Saw you coming out with new cameras so I thought to write this review before then

### 3/5 — Love the photos, the app needs improvement

*2025-02-03*

Love this concept! And I don’t mind the 24 hour wait time, the anticipation makes it all a bit more fun.

However, the app is very buggy. I’d say “developing” process only works without issues 30% of the time. Otherwise there are all kinds of bugs that stop it mid-way through, and you can’t access your photos.

For example, I just waited 24 hours to “develop” my film, only for the app to free when I got to the end of the timer and tried to see my photos. I had to close and open the app multiple times for my photos to finally load — but once they did, the app crashed and I had to start my 24 hours over!

I know this is a start up company, so I’m just really hoping they can get more resources and support to build out the app soon.

### 3/5 — It’s okay.

*2025-01-27*

The film often comes back and it’s WAY over exposed.
The camera also doesn’t always connect to the app which means you have to press the reset button - erasing any photos you’ve taken.
The upload process sometimes glitches too - doesn’t finish uploading and the app needs to be reloaded.
The “feedback” prompt is a bit pointless if you can’t write anything.
When it works it’s great but there a lot of room for improvement!

### 3/5 — Would be 3.5 if I could

*2025-01-26*

To cut straight to it: the processing time is egregious. That’s the most glaring con, personally. I do enjoy the outcome (the emulations are spot on, specifically with the flash), but having to wait a full 24hrs and not a minute sooner to see how your shots turned out is wild- even by film standards. Drop that time down to 2 or 3 hours and it becomes.. respectable.

The overall premise is good, but you can be present and in-the-moment without having to wait nearly 36* hours to see the photos (*if you’re like me and forget that the processing doesn’t start automatically, and is in fact a totally separate action from ‘unloading’ the film, lol).

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Issues out of the box

*2026-01-14*

Straight from the box there are issues with camera not connecting. After taking full roll of photos cannot unload photos and camera will not reset back to 27. Website has no instructions or troubleshooting

### 1/5 — Great concept - but the camera lets it down

*2025-11-16*

I really wanted to like this camera, but the photos are such bad quality - even after using the “tips” sent through by Flashback.. Always blurry and overexposed..

### 1/5 — No Flash-back

*2025-08-27*

Flashback is not what the camera gives. A camera that came faulty and Flashback are unable to provide a new one within a reasonable time frame. They have asked multiple times for proof of a reset which I have done and no further action taken. No above and beyond action taken either.
Lovely camera and concept but terrible service and slow response.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work !!!

*2025-05-24, version 1.8.0*

Seriously, brought this camera and I haven’t even been able to upload a single photo cause of connection bugs fix the damn app or give me a refund on my camera

### 1/5 — Blown out

*2025-04-30, version 1.8.0*

Used it during the day and it always blown out photos definitely not the vibe

### 1/5 — Great camera, horrible app

*2025-02-02*

Love the concept, but why does it take 10 minutes to upload photos to my phone, then another 10 minutes to upload my photos to the server to get processed, all the while I can’t do anything else on my phone and have to “keep the app open”. why can this photo processing simply not be done on my phone? And what privacy guarantees does the developer give me for my photos while on their server?

Saving photos to my phone isn’t intuitive. Photos are often over exposed, I get its cheap when it comes to a camera, but I’ve gotten a lot better quality from disposables over the years.

Save your money and wait for them to fix the app, not worth it currently.

### 1/5 — Such poor quality photos

*2025-01-23*

Really good concept and idea, however execution is terrible. The photos always come out so over exposed, blurry and really zoomed in. There is no option for you to adjust the camera settings to just your desired photos. I was initially really exited but have become extremely disappointed with this product

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-01-07, version 1.6.16*

Sending back!

### 1/5 — Camera glitch

*2025-01-01, version 1.6.16*

Took 14 photos on New Year’s Eve. Lost them all because the camera glitched and would not let me download the photos or take any more.

### 1/5 — App and photos

*2024-12-28*

Just to download the photos to be able to start developing takes hours
Most photos come out either white or completely black. Tried taking photos both with flash and without in well lit room but still comes out either too exposed or not enough

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best gift for yourself or a friend

*2026-08-01*

I’ve absolutely loved my flashback since the day I’ve got it! So far I only have the one for myself but it’s going to be my go to gift for my family and friends because it’s just that good!! Great price, great product, great team. Everything rocks🤟🏼

### 5/5 — Camera Button

*2026-06-17*

I love my flashback camera, however after less than 2 years, the button has stopped functioning… I can now only take pictures with the timer function via the app. I tried all tips on forums to fix it but nothing’s worked.

### 5/5 — Love the concept

*2026-05-26*

Currently writing this review from my laptop as I got thorough my latest roll on my v2 camera. Love the concept and the execution have been getting better and better. Keep up the good work! Also, buy/shoot a film roll occasionally (note to self)

### 5/5 — Edit: iPad app is broken

*2026-05-11*

I loaded my photos on my iPad since they weren’t working with my phone, but the iPad app doesn’t actually have a visible button for the lab. So they’re just stuck on my iPad, no way to develop them

Edit: nvm got the photos back and the app is dope. Still a bit of problems with the iPad app (can’t change the rendering mode) but photos are sick. Rn it’d be 4 and a half stars, but since that’s not an option I’m rounding up to 5

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-12-25*

This product is absolutely amazing. I have received it as a Christmas present and I’ve taken it everywhere with me since you can make it 24 hours to return a roll of film or you can make it instant so you can have instant gratification or the process of waiting it is a must have

### 5/5 — Brilliant product

*2025-04-04*

Does exactly what me and my platform are looking for. Very happy with the camera and would recommend

### 5/5 — So much fun!!!

*2025-01-26*

So much fun! So much fun!!!!! Stress free photography! No worried about costs/charging/ memory space….. absolutely fantastic!!!!

### 5/5 — Room for growth!

*2024-11-11*

The UI is pretty good and intuitive, but overall the developing process could use some help in regard to the volume it can take. Outside of that the app is pretty good.

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2024-02-21*

The idea behind Flashback is genius and the photos don’t disappoint. The app works so good, I only wish we could develop multiple rolls at a time and that there were alerts when the rolls are done! But even without these, this app and the camera is incredible!!!!

### 5/5 — Delayed gratification is a game changer

*2024-02-07*

Flashback is the ultimate blend or analogue and digital coming together. My kids love it!
