### 4/5 — Love it!

*2026-03-31, version 0.8.6*

I really enjoy it, there’s no limit and it lets you do enough

Only downside is it doesn’t let me use a split screen with other apps/websites so it’s quite hard to type them out

Keep up the good work!

### 4/5 — Helpful flash cards

*2025-12-27, version 0.999.999999999992*

I have been using this app to learn the names and faces of the students in my upcoming classes of the last 2 years. It has been good. There are additional features I wish it had, like sorting the cards alphabetically or controlling where new cards are inserted, but overall I’m happy with the app.

### 4/5 — Four stars

*2025-10-20, version 0.8.6*

Suggestions: For purposes of language vocabulary study, it would help to be able to enter a list of ‘questions’ separately from ‘answers’, and vice versa, so that one does not have to repeatedly change the language setting in order to use dictation with a long list of words. Also, it would be nicer if the first letter of text did not default to uppercase.

### 4/5 — Solid No-Frills Flashcards

*2025-05-23, version 0.999.99999999990*

It’s a great no-nonsense, gets-the-job-done flashcard app.

### 4/5 — Great free app, one thing though

*2025-05-10, version 0.8.6*

Great all around, especially the progressive study options. However, DO NOT do a ctrl z to undo a font change. It will undo ALL of your font changes on that card with no option to redo. Haha 😭

### 4/5 — Amazing app except for one tiny thing

*2025-03-19, version 0.999.99999999989*

I absolutely LOVE this app except for one thing. I would love to be able to export the flashcards to make it easier to print, as I love studying on paper. Is there some sort of way I could do that? If not, totally okay, I still LOVE this app. Thx you for it being free as there are many flashcard apps out here that charge you so much. Thank you so much and I love this app. I’ll update this once I get an answer.

### 4/5 — Easy To Use, A Pain to Organize

*2025-02-22, version 0.999.99999999985*

The only issue I have with it is that it’s not easy to put the cards in proper sequence. You can only see one card at a time, so you have to write down the sequence number of each card each time you move one. Otherwise, it’s simple and fun to use.

### 5/5 — Great Study Aid

*2025-01-27, version 0.999.99999999983*

A simple, straightforward, functional app with no apparent bugs and no nonsense.

### 5/5 — Highly recommended

*2025-01-17, version 0.999.99999999979*

Very easy to use. Simple and direct.

### 5/5 — Luc-Shalom

*2024-12-06, version 0.999.99999999973*

Great and simple tool for review

### 5/5 — Perfect for Studying

*2024-11-17, version 0.999.99999999967*

This app is the best i've found EVER, and the best part, its COMPLETELY FREE! I used this app for my tests and its super useful! Ive gotten over the roof results in my grades and you don't even need anyone to study with or help you study!
FIVE STARS!!!

### 5/5 — NH

*2024-11-07, version 0.999.99999999963*

Really simple i love it

### 4/5 — Great program!

*2024-11-02, version 0.999.9999999995*

Excellent and versatile! Would give one more star if the "hint" feature did not have the "x" in the top used for clearing (I thought it was for closing the window).
Overall a great program!

### 3/5 — Very basic but it's free!

*2024-10-30, version 0.999.9999999994*

Lacks the functionality of the paid-for apps but it certainly works if you're not fussed about bells and whistles.
To be able to format every flashcard in one stroke so that they all have the same appearance would be nice.
Full screen option would be nice too (though it sort of is on an iPhone - but not on my Mac).
The ability to export the data set would be nice too - I'm reluctant to add more flashcards in case I decide to move to a paid-for app - I don't want to have to retype everything.

### 3/5 — Lovely, but wonky

*2024-10-18, version 0.999.9999999992*

For free, it’s amazing, however, formatting is wonky, I don’t see how to make things properly default, and worse yet importing an exported deck from the desktop to the iOS version makes you pick a text size, and it reformats *everything* despite the fact that you can apply formatting to different parts of the card!

Simply put the iOS version is not totally compatible with the desktop version.

### 5/5 — Love it, need support

*2024-10-09, version 0.7.6*

I’ve been using this app for a couple years now and it’s been great. I’m trying to reach out to the developer to get support on a sharing issue with the iPad. Can someone reach out to me? I keep getting sent back to this page when I click support.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No idea why people love this app

*2024-11-22, version 0.999.99999999971*

If you are only using one computer, it may be great, but if you need the capability of going across iCloud, select another app. Even though everything about this SAYS you can use it across your devices, the SETTINGS section of Flashcard Max doesn’t even show up on the original MacBook Air where I downloaded the app. So hours and hours wasted and I will have to figure out how to download and transfer the information to Quilt…an application that actually works. Dear Apple: Please do a better job of screening applications on this platform. We used to be able to trust them and we can’t anymore. Creators are making a fortune off people that download and delete apps that don’t even come close to the description. I don’t even trust the reviews anymore because I’m convinced that most of them are fake.

### 1/5 — SUPER slow

*2024-07-16, version 0.999.9999999953*

Downloaded this and it was painfully slow. Could not get a second flashcard created.

### 1/5 — a bug that needed to be fix

*2024-02-19, version 0.999.99999983*

I've noticed that every different card I use, my words are ended up getting deleted or even copy off from the other slide and put it on the old slide. This is quite annoying!

### 1/5 — Deletes Information

*2021-02-02, version 0.999.97.2*

Spent over an hour creating flashcards for cellular biology only to discover the app had deleted information from several completed flashcards, either in part or in whole. What's the point of the app if can't even serve its basic function? Don't waste your time! Try another app.

### 1/5 — Very poor interface

*2020-12-11, version 0.7.1*

The app design is really poor and many features are missing as compared with Desktop. Just a waste of time to use this app.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2020-06-09, version .997.7*

It's great that this is free, and even better that it has a supporting iphone app however I can't find out how to sync the 2 (assuming this isn't possible) and the instructions to share are extremely vague. I was hoping to be able to update and add as I go but I think every time I change anything I would need to export and import.
Visually isn't the best either.

### 2/5 — Good except...

*2020-09-07, version 0.999.5*

It is alright. It deletes my words all of the time however, which makes it rather frustrating to use because I am always having to go back and retype my writing, sometimes two or three times on the same card.
In the same vein, it will also delete all of the words on a card, and I will find random blank cards scattered throughout my deck that I know at one point had words on it. This is often as well. I will have 60 cards and then 2 will be blank. I will delete them and come to my 58 card deck later with 3 more blank cards. Now I am down to 55 cards and I have lost 5 cards of information.

### 2/5 — Not good

*2020-03-03, version .997.2*

I thought this app was a life saver at first, but as I was studying, I noticed it deleted half of some of my flashcards. On top of that, the colored texts I used to differentiate definitions or important parts of texts were back to the original color, and every time i try to fix it, it just goes back. Terrible. You get what you pay for and in this case I paid nothing.

### 2/5 — The app unexpectedly closes

*2019-03-21, version .94*

So I downloaded this app this morning and did a couple cards and looked good. Now every time i try to open it, it gives me the message "Flashcard Max closed unexpectedly". I never had any problems with any other apps and restarted my laptop a couple times and it didn't make a difference. I would have rated 5 stars if it worked.

### 3/5 — Great free app, one thing though

*2025-06-08, version 0.8.6*

Mostly good for a free app, especially the progressive study options.

However;

-If you create cards on your computer and export them to the app keep in mind that edits made on the mobile version won’t always stick. Roughly 1 in 5 cards i edit don’t save when i open the app later. Very frustrating! If you experience this just delete that card and create a new one with the edited information.

-DO NOT do a ctrl z to undo a font/style change. It will undo ALL of your font changes on that card with no option to redo.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Super helpful!

*2026-03-27, version 0.999.9999999999976*

Getting used to it took a bit, but now that I have it is very easy and quick to produce detail flashcards! Thank you!

### 5/5 — I liked it

*2026-02-07, version 0.999.9999999999972*

Give it a try. It’s really good app.

### 5/5 — Incredible .

*2026-01-22, version 0.999.9999999999971*

I am a student and was in desperate need of a flashcard app where I can quickly make and use flashcards, this app is simplistic to use, but has all the features you need to make the flashcards you want. Please keep this app free as it is an amazing study tool and I will be using it until my studies end. The creator regularly updates the app too so it is always changing for the better, there are also no adverts so it is just flashcard making with no annoying distractions. THANK YOU MAX!!!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2026-01-20, version 0.999.9999999999971*

Perfect for language learning

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2025-12-22, version 0.999.999999999992*

This app is so powerful yet is really easy to use. I was up and running in no time. It was very easy to setup two folders and create multiple decks within each folder. I started using the Spaced Repetiion feature recently and it is such a time saver.

I asked Max if we could study using Spaced Repetition one deck at a time as my cards were getting intermingled. He added the functionality. Max is the best! Thank you Max.

### 5/5 — Not flashy, but it works great.

*2025-11-13, version 0.999.999999999992*

It works reasonably well and is free. No complaints. Good stuff.

### 5/5 — Pretty Great

*2025-09-14, version 0.999.999999999989*

Simple and easy to build and manage flashcard decks. Other apps have confusing interfaces, perhaps I’m a simpleton but I love this app because everything is intuitive.

### 5/5 — Flashcard Max is Great!!!!

*2025-05-21, version 0.999.99999999985*

This Free App is amazing. Its easy to use and works well if you need to make study cards. I would recomend this product

### 5/5 — Perfect for college

*2025-04-29, version 0.999.99999999990*

I needed a free flashcard app that I could add pictures to without having to pay for a monthly subscription. Theres no limit on the number of sets you can make and you can even block out words on diagrams to study them. Ive never had any glitches using this app and it has helped me alot. I also really like how you can change the font and color of the text, most flashcard apps dont have this option

### 5/5 — Fast bug fix!

*2025-03-31, version 0.999.99999999990*

I had an issue with moving flashcards - some bug that caused the program to close. I contacted the developer over the weekend and got a response that it was fixed the next day!

I am extremely pleased with the quality of this app and how it works.
